All the Indian dealerships around me are multi-brand dealerships. One carries Indian, BMW, Ducati, and the Japanese. Another Indian, BMW, and the Japanese. The 3rd carries Indian, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, KTM, the Japanese, and several other smaller brands. They all had to provide a separate entrance into the showroom for Indian and mostly divided from the other brands, but you don't have to walk outside to get to the rest of the showroom(s). Of course all 3 carry ATVs and SxSs as well as trikes and at least one carries the slingshot car thing.
@Ridingfish3 жыл бұрын
Yea this is common.. but and as I have been in great dealerships that are multi lines I always appreciate single dealer experience
@shotgunscott3 жыл бұрын
Why they are closing is my biggest question and I know you're going to ask it. Throw some of the biggest fear if I'm going to buy an Indian. We only have two dealerships here in the salt lake City region, and apparently one of them isn't as good as the other in terms of service. The one that is supposedly better has already changed names twice, in 2 years. So I don't know if it's more of a national thing that Indian dealerships are struggling or if it's more localized? I was hoping that the dealership should be better supported financially from Polaris, to really "challenge" Harley.
@donrudeboyt18953 жыл бұрын
It’s to bad no group has come in and purchased this dealership. If it was doing well in sales, it would appeal to investors. Indian dealerships are very sparse and this definitely doesn’t help.

This is why a one brand power-sports business is a challenge to maintain. Had these guys had Polaris snow mobiles or other winter power sports equipment they’d been able to navigate better. That’s not addressing anything about other aspects of their business practices. Indian builds a great product and it’s customer service is commendable. But supply chain disruptions causing numerous businesses of all types to jettison. Best to all moving forward.

My biggest question would be, why? Is it the motorcycle market in general? Or is it more specifically the market for Indian now? Or is it for some other reason?
@jbradkilpatrick3 жыл бұрын
And I hope the answer to that is that it’s not because of Indian sales. My second closest dealer, Tallahassee, also closed in the past year. It’s where I bought my bike. Luckily, Panama City Beach is closer to me, and still open.
@danielstewart77323 жыл бұрын
I think the "market" is shifting, and has been. Here in Wisconsin, UTV sales are dwarfing high end cruiser motorcycles sales, The dealers literally can't keep a UTV on the sales floor. and they are back ordered 6-8 months. Our Indian dealer is a Polaris dealer, that sells UTV's, dirt bikes, and used motorcycles, as well as Yamaha's Royal Enfield's, and Triumphs. "Mono cultures" are generally a bad thing, and a dealership that only does Indian is a few bad months away from shutting down. The exception to this has (past tense) always been HD, even HD has shut down over 200 dealers in last couple years.
@Ridingfish3 жыл бұрын
Brad, this had nothing to do with current sells but more about forecasting what they believe the available NEW bikes will be.. Yea it's hard when you are a one brand dealer.. but in Bison house January and March have been great the last couple years

I see alot of dealers offer these lifetime warranties. Both car and motorcycle. They abruptly close or change ownership. Guess what? New dealership doesn't honor their warranty. To me it's a sham. Indian dealer in my town pulled out this year. Feel bad for the employees. Sign of the times I guess.
