I was so engulfed and mezmerized with this doc. I put on my head phones and like my mind go on a journey outside of my apt. I had a fantastic time over seas. I traveled to many islands by boat. I met many different beautiful brown brothers and sisters. They babies were especially cute. I had a great time. Thanks.

Yes, another interesting video and filled with angry comments. The ship and the passengers aboard did not create nor likely condone the evils of slavery and the ugly legacy of its presence along the Indian Ocean. The Diego Suarez presented is in Malagasy Republic, not the island air base far out in the Indian Ocean as one person commented. Different place with the same name. Not all islands were originally occupied by Africans since the seafaring peoples of Asia arrived first. And if Europeans stop visiting Africa, the impact to many merchants, small local businesses will suffer. Finally, I have a problem with the word "discover" when used in the Christopher Columbus sense. Obviously he didn't discover anything, but made it known to his people and particular his bosses, the Spanish royals. Yet, in a broad sense, we all discover. Every day we embark on a new adventure for us, it is a discovery. For example, a New Yorker arriving in California has many new things to discover, even though California is already inhabited. In this sense, all these places are a discovery for those of us who have never been there. Maybe, a little lightening up and less criticism replaced with some new things maybe learned by watching. Maybe, even a little appreciation for making this video making a part of the world not well known by those who live on the other side of the planet a little bit known. For me, I am inspired to learn more about the Indian Ocean and its many islands.

@@mikenwpb84 What? Kingdoms such as Timbuktu, Mali, Kemet, and Nubia expanded across the North and South continent of Africa. There was no such thing as a "sub saharan" until colonialization made that disgusting ideology up and feed it to the nations of the world. .. bigotry people are so obsessed with what they call "black" people. And it is that obsession of needing someone to be at the "bottom" to make bigots feel better about themselves, which is sad.

@@00II0 Nick Stacey yes Africa is a continent and its separated by the Sierra desert the largest and most barren desert in the world. North Africa and sub saharan africa (geographical location). Having never developed the wheel, or farming, they would've never been able to make it across. so blacks just roamed around on foot and slept in the dirt. And still do.

When describing the history of the African slave trade I wish that there was more emphasis placed on the fact that many of these poor souls sold and doomed to either death on the torturous journey by ship to the Americas or a miserable life of whipping, rape, torture and hard work were disgustingly sold into slavery by their own people.

i love how all these people hate on the whites and the an clearly says the African chiefs sold these people not whites your own people sold you to other africans. Slavery was such a shity thing but its crazy how so many people get it twisted the blacks sold blacks to other blacks who then sold them to other blacks and whites. Let's all just skip that part and blame the white guy so crazy. The culture these people have managed to save out of all their hardship is awesome and something to be very proud of. Please people in the comments do some research or heck just watch this video get past the color thing cause in the end white, black, green, and yellow was all wrong not just one race PERIODE.
