In Calgary, Canada, a man named Dilpreet Singh has been arrested for allegedly attacking a radio journalist, Rishi Nagar. The Calgary Police Service confirmed that Dilpreet has been charged with one count of assault and is scheduled to appear in court on November 15.
The Incident:
Rishi Nagar, the news director of Red FM Calgary, was assaulted on September 29 after attending an election-related event in the northeast part of the city. As Rishi walked toward his car after the event, he was attacked without any warning. He suffered injuries, including damage to his left eye and his right leg.
The assault appears to be connected to a news story Rishi had reported earlier. The report was about an incident at the Gurdwara Dashmesh Cultural Centre in Calgary, where two men, Gursewak Singh and Sukhpreet Singh, were arrested on firearms-related charges. Rishi had also mentioned that one of the attackers’ associates contacted him for a meeting before the assault, raising suspicions that the attack might have been premeditated.
