You guys probably don't care about this but my dad was the REAL concept designer for the ride, except he called it dragon's lair. My dad was an engineer student in the 80s and he wanted to intern as an imagineer at disney. He built a model of his ride idea, and the concept of a hydraulic ride which he got inspiration from ride simulators. He even designed how the dragon in it could work which disney was always trying to figure out and then disney used that in disney paris. He sent the design to disney and requested to intern so he can fulfill his dream of being an imagineer. Weeks later disney sent him a letter saying thank you for the ride design, they copyrighted it now and it is now disney property and they were no longer accepting new interns. This was like 1986 87 (around the time george lucas was in talks of making a new ride). We still have that letter. He then heard about the indiana jones ride and went on it in 1993 on opening day and cried because disney stole his work (i was two so i don't remember it). He quit engineering, even though he had very good ideas still, but didn't trust anyone to make them for him. I love disney and think they are great but I still think that was shady and told my dad he needs to sue for $2 grand (because bob iger is not gonna waste his time for $2k because he has better things to do than get sued and use his expensive lawyers to win it) and have disney admit that my dad is the true creator and inventor of the ride. Moral of the story is, if you ever send anything to disney, COPYRIGHT IT!

@@provostparkpass we have pictures of the designs he had too that he took because he was so proud of them as a young guy. Insane story but we have tons of proof. Again, still love disney but even I hurt when I ride that ride.
@GoldSteps182
@GoldSteps182 5 жыл бұрын
That’s actually insane, so your dad was the one who invented the concept of an EMV dark ride and never got the credit for it? And also, was he the one who designed the track layout of the ride?
@js5072
@js5072 5 жыл бұрын
@@GoldSteps182 yes, we have pictures of his designs and the pics of the diorama of his ride, the track is ridiculously similar too, especially the bridge scene, the place where the firey stone carving of the dude's face is where his dragon is suppose to go which you can tell could fit a large dragon animatronic on the ride. Where the snake that lashes at you is suppose to be a different jumpscare (i think bats) but is suppose to jewels and gold in that area.

Heyy Provost~!! In the room with the projection, if you ask the cast member(near the screen) to flash a light at the direction of the projection, you can see the original Eeyore parking sign. The Eeyore parking USED to be where the Indiana Jones ride before. The room after the projection room, there's a big map in a small caged office with a radio playing. That map was the original map used in the Indiana Jones movie. In the ride, right when you see Mara shoots laser at you and you make a sharp turn, you hear rumbling noises like rocks falling on you. There USED to be dry ice fall at front of you for that rock falling effect, but due to high maintenance and the dry ice melting, it was removed, but the sound effect is still there

Our record is 21 times in one day. This was in early December, 2010 when the park was really empty. We loved it when we got off on the right side and would go up the stairs to exit and could cross to the entry side at the elevators. No one was in line. In total so far have ridden 224 times.

My record for riding Indie is 6 times in a row. It was dead that day and my girlfriend at the time rode it 6 times in a row never leaving our seats. We just asked them, can you send us again because no one was in line. A few times, we were alone. That was romantic. Well, try being romantic while the hydraulics is bouncing you around, ha ha ha. Anyway, 6 times in a row. That same day, we probably rode it 10 times altogether. This was in 1999 I believe and was my, still is, my favorite ride of them all.
@twizshiz
@twizshiz 5 жыл бұрын
That same day, we rode Star Tours 3 times (the original movie). We had to exit and get back in line but the line was very short (like one minute wait) basically waiting for the previous guest to get off the ride. We rode Splash Mountain 3 times without exiting. Honey I Shrunk the Audience, we watched it twice without leaving (I miss Captain EO). Saw Lincoln twice. Pirates, four times, we had to leave and come back but the line was like 2 minute wait time. Space Mountain, twice without getting off. Because Disneyland was so not busy, during the day on a school day, that was an awesome day of riding our favorites with virtually no wait times. Remember Innoventions and that robot (animatronic) that greeted you upon entering, they allowed us to watch him three times in a row without pushing us into the building. I loved that animatronic. I wonder where he is now. They probably repurposed him. Fun days when I had the second best Annual Pass at the time costing about $150 a year. When you go to Disneyland almost every other day, even after work just to get a few hours of Disney, you begin to figure out the best times to go. We rarely went to Disneyland on the weekend. I used to work for Disney in 1999-2000 as the Parking Lot Tram Announcer. I loved doing the Lion King Tram which I believe is not in use anymore. I used to love making impressions of Disney characters; Simba as a child, Mickey, Goofy, and the tram guest loved it. Most of them came to the back of the tram and take pictures with me. Though the pay was only $8 an hour, it was the best job I've ever had. When I retire, I will work at Disneyland again. I do not care what it is as long as I am not cleaning toilets, I will do it.

One year a long time ago, in a single day I rode the ride 28 times in a row! The cast members kept saying stuff to me like, “welcome back”, “my goodness, you’re really determined to get Indy out, aren’t ya?”, “there’s no one in line right now (10 min wait) head on in the main queue line”, or “gee, you must be a huge Indy and temple fan”. During Presidents Day last year in 2018, I got stuck in the chamber of snakes part for about an hour. Once they fixed it, we got stuck again multiple times with while the were on lights on. Another part we got stuck was where Indiana Jones is dangling with the boulder doing towards us. We were stuck there for 15ish minutes but it was freaky! At first, the lights were how they normally are, but out of nowhere, they turned off, along with the music. The only visible thing we were able to see was Indiana Jones and the boulder. All you can hear is Indy speaking. After a few minutes, the lights stayed off but the music started to play so loud, louder than usual. Then the lights turned on completely, and then back to normal. We proceeded with the ride afterwards and let us ride it again with no complications. That was a fun experience, especially since it was my first time going on that ride after so many years of coming to Disneyland.

Great video! One of my favorite rides as well. Don't think I'll ever beat Amanda's record of 17 rides in one day. As far as the lights flickering in the queue, I doubt they are controlled by the "rickety old generator". There are control modules (I've used one at home for my Halloween yard haunt years ago) which make the brightness of the lights go up and down.

I totally love Indiana Jones ride, so fun, adventurous, and sometimes dangerous with the beetles, snakes, traps, poison darts, and all, but the rest is great. The ride feels like your on an adventure, I didn't look into the eyes of Mara 'cause it'll curse me and I might think those dangerous things might get to me like the skulls, beetles, the bridge, snakes, poison darts, giant boulder heading towards me and all, but its fun when I use my imagination to think those thing are so real.

Indy CM here. Mara does indeed officially have no gender. Also, the snakes name isn't Frighto! There are two twin snakes at Indy that take turns in the ride. The fun one who moves a lot is named Fluffy, and the lazy one who doesn't move much is named Buffy. Since Buffy is lazy, we usually have Fluffy out :) A few more fun facts... There's a skeleton in the skeleton room named Bones who wears a Mickey ear hat. In the Chamber of Skulls, there's a teeny tiny Tinker Bell sitting on top of a candle! You can only really see her if you get an in-show exit or look it up on Google. We did start giving out brand new decoder cards again but I can't guarantee you'll be able to snag one on your next visit. Thanks for enjoying the ride!

4:45 - the reason the ceiling with spikes stopped working - was the cost of maintaining it. (When you shook the pole, the ceiling would lower a few inches.) -- and -- at time 5:30 -- the effect of pulling the rope -- is suppose to be - if you kept pulling the rope a few times, the guy would fall (you would hear him yell and fall with a thud)

@@KARYFLAGS No. It was 20 times in total. So 10 times each ride. We went on a slow day in January. All the fun rides were closed so my friends and I ended our day going back and forth between those two rides.

also in the queue, just before entering the film room...on the lower left there is a somewhat cracked elephant statue...this has one of the coolest hidden Mickey's...you have to view it at just the right angle, but there is a profile hidden Mickey made from the head area of the elephant.

"Same same" NICE. Yeah, we got walked out once (with the lights on), and on our most recent trip, there was a 45 minute stoppage because someone barfed. Still, a fun ride. Is there still a parking lot sign in the line? This was a reference to the fact that the ride was built in an area that was once a parking lot.

So have you ever noticed that right inside the entrance to the temple there is a notebook laying on a little bench/table. if you read through the notes, you will see that Indy has sketched the mural of Mara. There is a description next to the sketch that reads, "The mural of Mara, 'HE' is holding the three gifts". Based on that and based on the deepness of his voice, "you've looked into my eyes" (Which i always do too... haha) he sounds very masculine to me. Another detail that i love from this notebook in the entrance, is on the 2nd page there is a cross section of the temple, there is a middle chamber above the entrance chamber that has the mummies of the servants of Mara's grand priests, and then above that, a top chamber that details a small sculpture, with the description, "Small Sculpture identical design as mural, it (the sculpture) is now in my office pending shipment." Have you ever seen the sculpture?? :)

Could you check on this??? From the D23 site. 4. “Club Obi Wan” is a tribute to the Jedi Master. No, you aren’t seeing things. That famous Shanghai nightclub at the beginning of Temple of Doom really is named “Club Obi Wan” after the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Star Wars saga. The club exteriors were filmed on location in Macao, a region on the Chinese mainland near Hong Kong. Two signs were installed at the filming location, with one entrance reading “Club Obi Wan” and another neon marquee featuring the Chinese translation of the name. And, if you’re a keen-eyed Disneyland guest (aren’t we all?) you might notice a special callout to the Club in the queue for Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye.

In the queue, where is says don't step on the eye...there used to be another active bobby trap that worked. When you stepped on one of the eyes...one of the stone blocks in the ceiling would start to drop down and bend the 2x4 wood that was 'holding' it up in place. I believe if you look close enough you can see that one of the wood pieces is really rubber and not real wood...throw back to the original workings of the even cooler queue.
