Performance has changed a lot for Very Ultra preset, perhaps something was bugged with launch version that was fixed, with previous version going from very ultra to low only gained 10fps, now difference is 36fps. Medium settings seems to have been untouched with the update while low gained 4% Cutscenes also seem to be locked to 60fps now. Game was restarted after every test. I tested it with path tracing and what can I say, it has problems. This is especially true for light, almost gray hair and yellowish eyebrows at the very beginning. In general, it does not work perfectly. The picture is nicer, of course, but there are drawbacks.

I set the game to 1440 medium dlss quality fps capped to 60, and use lossless scaling x2 🥳

Low settings seem to have improved, very ultra dropped, something might have been bugged with that preset before.

@@S2GamesBench Yeah, that's why i got confused. There is a "Improved performance on larger game levels if using an 8GB VRAM video-card." in patchnote, but i see perfomance drop... But maybe it's just for different levels/locations.

Something is up with this game's shadows. Ive spent 20min messing with the gfx settings,and noticed the shadow quality is nearly the same from medium to ultra,with lowest looking the worst. i have a 4070 ti Super. i avg 75fps @4K Ultra (no RT). if i turn shadows to lowest i bump up to 86fps. if i set it to medium it goes to 84fps, and looks almost identical to ultra. i have also noticed Global Illumination is one of the most fps taxing setting in the game. turning it to lowest brings me from 84 to 100ish Fps. with little to no difference in lighting. turning on DLSS - Quality also gives me an additional 30fps. so youre running a card thats not a 4070 or higher,i definitely recommend having Shadows set to medium,and G.I. set to low. everything else at max(except RT),and DLSS Quality. the game will still look amazing,as well as the resolution,and you should be well above 60fps

the shadow quality itself only changes from low to medium. High and ultra only make it so more objects can cast shadows, but the resolution of the shadows is the same as medium

You can still play and have decent framerate especially with DLSS, textures "medium" or manually set higher number in config file. Now you tell me if you can find any difference between low or high texture pool size in this game, cause I can't find any. There is a bookshelf in a castle in the beginning of the game, I can read book cover names on low. There is some detailed drawing on the walls there also, I have spend about half an hour looking for any differences and cant find any. May be there is visible difference on supreme vs low, but this is mid range few years old card... question is, if you can't see the difference, is there a difference really?

​@@xerxeslv Digital Foundry said that in this game the texture option does not work in the conventional way, you will get the same textures in low as in super ultra, the only difference is in loading times. The higher texture options store more textures in the vram than the lower one, so they load faster in theory, something that does not affect their quality, but in my experience with a 3060ti, the textures load quickly and do not I can distinguish the change, it will be microseconds, I don't find low textures when I look closely.

If they did change something with the Ultra settings, then I honestly can't tell the difference. At least when looking at the very compressed YT video. Even when watching it at 1440p. Maybe you saw something on your monitor. I see the same water reflection on the walkway in your video, and same looking light effects. So for me it just looks like we lost a lot of performance for nothing. Unless someone in the comments is a specialist that has the game, and can prove otherwise:D. You also got to love the stupid comments some ppl have about the technical aspects of this game. Like for example "RT" is not out yet, so it's not fair to tests it, something that i read on 2 different benchmark channels. Forgetting that the game has baked in software RT. That's always on. But now that PT is a thing, if you don't have it one, and at full settings. You are not using RT right. Just a bunch of morons. One thing that the developers should do for the PC crowd. Is to allow the usage of Xbox Series X specific graphical settings, That in some cases are lower than what you can go on a PC. It would help ppl with lower end hardware, and ppl with better hardware to get more performance. I never understood what's the point of forcing us to always use higher than console settings, if the lower ones are already made by the developers. For a great example, Red Dead Redemption 2 has console specific performance settings, that you can't replicate on PC. At least without modding it. Anyway, hope that they will fix that performance drop that we see here. It's like 20 fps in some scenes. So that def goes beyond just some bugs.

@@asahira7834 I didn't get any comments like that, probably because I also had game overlay on and it clearly shows that RT is on in all tests. People can just comment whatever comes to mind, I was watching testing games video on stalker 2 patch and performance didn't change with 4090, everyone was commenting why was video made when patch notes didn't mention anything for performance change, now patch notes are rarely complete, performance can easily change if devs fix 50 different bugs and devs may not mention it because difference is present on some GPUs or difference is low enough for them to mention it or may be they didn't even realise it. Yeah not putting xbox settings is odd decision, you have already done the work why not make the game more accessible.
