RIP, Sean Connery. 1930-2020 This is the ultimate father and son story of the Indiana Jones film series. Before Sean Connery was cast as Henry Jones, Sir Laurence Olivier was considered for the part, but fell ill with Pneumonia. Gregory Peck (To Kill A Mockingbird) was even considered for the role. Olivier passed away in July 1989, 2 months after the films release.

Harrison Ford has been in a LOT of movies that are great choices. As far as action films go, he played Jack Ryan in two movies ("Patriot Games" & "Clear and Present Danger"), and was in "Air Force One", and "The Fugitive"; Dramas like "Witness", "Regarding Henry", and "42"; Comedies like "Six Days, Seven Nights", "Working Girl", and "Morning Glory"; and Sci-Fi movies like "Ender's Game", "Blade Runner", and "Blade Runner 2049".... just to name a few.

The only issue I have with this is that young Indy cares about the artefact going to a museum, yet in 'Temple of Doom' (which is set before 'Raiders) he is a treasure hunter that seems to care little about the cultural importance of artefacts. Sallah is in the first one, but the actor has been in a number of things. He was Gimli in 'Lord of the Rings) for example. Her name is Elsa, but she wouldn't 'Let it go'.

21:33 Captain's yacht. They (most likely) got it from Star Trek, though Star Trek had never actually used it before this film. George Lucas is an FX design scifi guy who makes lots of money from that; and there was a schematic manual of the D released in 1987 to promote the new show to die-hard fans of the original series, so he would probably have gotten one. The Captain's Yacht on the Enterprise-D is on the bottom of the blimplike saucer section, similarly positioned to this plane. And we can see it all clearly in the very first Saucer Separation from the Next Generation series pilot, "Encounter At Farpoint".

Some movies go way beyond being favorites for me, and they enter next level, which I call “events”, and this is one of them. This came out in summer of 89, 5 year old me couldn’t have been more excited. Here’s some trivia: *The tank sequence was the first thing shot in the movie. *Indy’s jump from the horse to the tank is one of my favorite stunts ever in a movie, it was done by Vic Armstrong, who was pretty much Harrison’s go-to stunt man in these movies. His autograph is framed on my Indy wall in my man cave. *Jeffrey Boam, the screenwriter, got this job because Steven had been so impressed with his script for a previous movie. Sadly Jeffrey passed away in 2000, but I’m good friends with his son and he signed an autograph for me. *As previously mentioned, I collect autographs and I have many from this movie; my wife and I are doing our house medieval/ castle themed, and the actor who played the butler just happened to be doing a signing a couple years back. His main line is about a castle and tapestries, so we had him sign that for us, validating our house as a “castle” 😂 *Alison Doody has said she will never do a convention, but she did a signing specifically for our Indy autograph group on Fb. *The soundstage where the interior of the grail temple was built, was made specifically for The Empire Strikes Back; sadly the site is now a Tesco Grocery Store next to Elstree Studios.

I've already reacted to hunt for Red October, but I need to get to some of the other Jack Ryan films. I know there's more than a couple. I didn't know the Harrison Ford is in them cuz he wasn't in Red October but the dad was.

Look for "The Frisco Kid," an underrated Western comedy starring Harrison Ford and Gene Wilder (Willy Wonka, Young Frankenstein).

I consider myself very wise and intelligent, and even I cannot figure out how you do not have all the subscribers on KZbin by now. It's just nuts.
