Hi everyone, Hope you are doing well and you are getting ready for the weekend💗 Just thought I should quickly post an update saying I have read your comments to the previous episode and would have to say I agree with all of you. I did misinterpret the context regarding mainly Sansa. My thoughts were indeed towards Dany but at the same time I didn’t acknowledge that what Sansa was doing was for the north and after all that she has seen, it is only right for her to question everything for the betterment of her people. In the reaction I didn’t even think that the reason she told Tyrion the truth about Jon was only after she said “you are afraid of her”. I take it way out of context and for that I apologize. It was a little disappointing to see overall that Dany’s character is going downhill and is becoming exactly what she said she wouldn’t be. I will be mindful in the remaining 2 episodes about Sansa. One thing is for sure is that no matter how poorly I may have conveyed my feelings, I wasn’t biased because I love Dany! I was beyond happy when Sansa took charge and wanted to fight for her home I am all about women rising up but I just think because I’m just going into it without any reference I think I came across that I was too harsh about Sansa which looking back I kind off was. That being said, if all of you can just have a civil conversation please and I love reading comments but no need to attack anyone guys we all love the show and I think we are so passionate that it comes across a bit tough and we should all just appreciate everyone’s opinion/comment. In the end I love the Starks and the Targareyn💓 I appreciate everyone’s support and I am not ready for it to end😖 Other than that, I hope you have enjoyed the reactions so far and I shall see you in the next one♥️ Love, Aish

The thing in my mind, is if you are the strongest amongst a group and are able to get everyone under control - that doesn’t say much. It’s if everyone does not think anything of you and you manage to gain that respect among wolves- that will say more about your control and restraint. In Essos she married and became a khaleesi, she then got dragons and little by little her faith grew in herself while she went by with strength around people who really weren’t as cutthroat. And no one can oppose her. Here in Westeros there are people just as cunning and political even more so cutthroat so she can not gain that respect but loses her cool it shows she may not have the experience needed … strength doesn’t always equal to great rule i actually agree with that statement. Coming to a new country to conquer while not being a part of the culture or knowing how it works expecting something greater is already a marked failure. I’ve seen that coming actually.
@toomuchsauce55992 жыл бұрын
Those are valid points, however what I don’t understand is that by this point she had earned the North’s respect by defending Winterfell at the cost of losing so much of her strength. But that didn’t exactly happen, I’m not saying Sansa should’ve been on he knees for her but she should’ve been more grateful, she didn’t even want to give her credit for any of the help Dany provided during the war. Looking back on it, it was in complete contrast to how Cregan Stark acted with great loyalty during the Dance with Dragons, or how the North had been previously portrayed. Even Torren Stark, the last king of North, bent the knee, and did so to save his people. This what I LOVED about the Starks, brute and stern, yet loyal and very much unselfish. Granted Dany is who she is and becomes what she becomes, she hadn’t done anything up to this point, for them to harbor such disdain and mistrust her.

Missande, jorah, her family, tyrion is betraying her by trying to keep his family alive, Jon has betrayed her, varys is betraying her.. so she is losing her self. Minus the writers that everyone has mentioned but in regards to the story, if you lose all of this, this will change someone, losing all in the matter of moment.... But if you look back at the story, it's foreshadow that Danearys would lose her mind some like her father... its been sprinkled throughout the show. If the dragons were coming from behind. These conventions say it's time for the good guys to unite and that Sansa like a good and obedient little side character should automatically come to Dany's support. Missandei's last wish "Drakaris". Her friends are all dead. 2 of her children are dead. From the rest, she feels betrayed and/or mis-advised. "Be the dragon" advised her Orlena once. Dany's career and downfall has been foreseeable since she watched emotionless and cold her brother killed in Season 1. But this downfall was implemented very badly in the last episodes comprehensibly. Her downfall is much too fast to be credible. If you remember, her first impulse has always been violence. Those who do not follow will be killed. However, her advisors and friends were often able to prevent this. Sometimes not. Now she has no advisors and her friends are dead. What remains is the real Dany. Good intentions, violent solutions and a "Drakaris" from her last friend before she was beheaded. Another mistake that was made in the series in my opinion is not to let Dany attack immediately as a result of the beheading. That would have been more comprehensible. Instead, they allow even more time to pass before the attack starts. This would have been the perfect moment to make the attack on everyone comprehensible. They didn't do it and hardly anyone thinks of missandei's last words when it finally happens. Dany's Motivation after Kingslanding giving up is then no longer comprehensible. She should have attack now and directly. And in order to crown all the nonsense at the end, the authors decide in the end to making Dany an Adolf Hitler visually and linguistically, so that the enemy image is also conveyed to the last idiot. This is lazy writing.
@NovaLena222 жыл бұрын
I agree. Dany was always set to become a villain and Seasons 1-6 set the stage for that very well. You saw bits of it early on, and as the Seasons progressed, it became less subtle. But the writing in Seasons 7 and 8 was so bad, particularly because they dispensed with any and all subtlety and went for the raw and obvious version of Dany. It was a bad move, because to many of the Dany fans who missed the foreshadowing of her as a villain, it felt as if they completely changed her character. So for them, this felt like a total betrayal.
@hjalnelson95792 жыл бұрын
Dany "fell" too fast? As you said yourself, violence and death by burning was always her first impulse, ever since S1. All her moderating influences are now dead, or spurning her. Why is it "too fast" that she goes off the rails more or less immediately? That's who she always was.
@TomTomson812 жыл бұрын
@@hjalnelson9579 I'm also talking about the character drawing and not just the actions. Season 1-6 Dany has been softened drawn. 7-8 came an extremely hard cut and she was hardened drawn. Everyone recognizes where the authors want to go with this character and her characteristics, how she is introduced and maintained. If then a hard cut comes then this is simply noticeable and the charakter looks less believable. This means that more time must be invested in such a change than was done here. Retrospectively, everything can still be explained in a comprehensible way, but at the moment of seeing it is difficult to understand. Especially since her whole appearance is already changing. She is drawn harder and harder, nothing has happened yet to justify it (beginning season 7). So if you don't notice the significant difference, I can't help you either. The story is good, the implementation is bad. All too much driven. Dany is allowed to be the evil one, as I said, this was already recognizable since season 1, but there was still drawn in gray. From season 7 there was only black and white and that with a sledgehammer. And for that you also needed many more beloved characters to convince us viewers that Dany is now getting evil. Also poorly implemented. This is lazy writing. Or at least out of necessity, because not enough episodes could be made, because the series and actors became too expensive. Not my main language. I do my best.

The writers were unable to do a consistently good job once they moved past the books and as the plot progressed it got really worse. I honestly don't understand how so many people got this far into the series still thinking of Daenerys as the hero. I started seeing other possibilities for the character before Khal Drogo was even cold and she only became more and more ruthless and egocentric with each passing season. They even changed her look from long, wild tresses and flowing linen clothes to tight braids and black leather. Heck, she's practically mirroring Anakin Skywalker's journey to Darth Vader. Now she wants Jon to keep his identity a secret so she won't lose her claim to the throne. Wow. Still so much more to come.

Your reactions are very similar to the reactions we all had! Especially when it comes to Euron's fleet shooting Rhaegal out of the air. You were absolutely on point by saying she had a tactical advantage. Even if she didn't see the ships, her dragons would have and avoided anything coming at them, like a scorpion bolt. Regarding Varys, though: Yes, as you say, he had no problem with giving the orders to kill a little girl, but only because he also conspired to make sure that girl was safe from the assassins he appeared to send. Recall that Tyron realized this, and even stated as much to Daenerys. It is also why she and Viserys ended up in the house of Illyrio Mopatis, where she was sold to Khal Drogo. In the end, Varys only appeared to be fine with the Mad King and King Robert, but all throughout, he was conspiring with several people to replace these rulers with someone more fit for the kingdom and delaying or obstructing the more questionable orders.. Also, when you are done with the series, you should watch Ryan George's Pitch Meeting: Game of Thrones Season 8. You'll enjoy it, I am sure!

There are more than a few scenes in these later seasons that bug me, but Bronn waltzing into the keep of Winterfell like it's nothing, despite him never being there, is hilariously awful. That and his reasoning is utterly flawed. Why not assassinate Danerys, since she's in the next room? Why wouldn't Jamie and Tyrion alert the guards the second he leaves the room? Re-watching this scene is giving me PTSD. That and Euron's fleet having laser-guided accuracy...Dany not seeing the fleet despite being one of the only beings in the world that has aerial reconnaissance... I thought it was all a fever dream at the time. Oh god... the headaches are starting again... Edit: Oh... forgot about Jamie too... It just keeps coming in waves... AHHH Edit2: Oh... forgot about Danerys and Tyrion being utterly vulnerable outside King's Landing and Cersei not taking advantage... Edit3: You are right about Sansa.

Sansa’s comment about how she would’ve stayed a little bird without her abuse: I still don’t think it’s worth clapping for, it’s not right to think it’s “for the best” that she had to go through what she did. Do not credit the likes of Littlefinger and Ramsay for her character growth. And I mean yes, I agree that Sansa’s and Arya’s comments about Daenerys etc. don’t make much sense in this episode… But neither does a lot that Daenerys has said during this season and the one before. So I blame the writing rather than the characters. Pre-season 7 Daenerys was someone I would definitely root for the throne, but since then she’s been all about her birthright, destiny and all that crap… So yes, I’m more with the characters that are doubting her, even though at the same time all their arguments against Daenerys don’t make sense. Nearly none of them have heard all of Daenerys’ bad statements, so they don’t have as big of a reason to doubt her as the viewer. Varys I sort of understand: He wants to do better than he did before, and he also has more influence than before, so therefore it makes sense he would be more careful with Daenerys than he was with the previous rulers. (Besides, by the time Robert was planning on assassinating Daenerys, Varys was already conspiring against him, he was only pretending to be loyal to him.) But I do think he seemed too eager to cast her aside for Jon too soon. After the conversation he had with Daenerys in his next scene, though, it makes more sense. She didn’t show any concern for the people of King’s Landing and didn’t really give a valid, intelligent response to Varys’ pleading. No matter what her decision, if that’s her way of justifying it, I wouldn’t trust her either. I also think it’s wrong to say Tyrion only cares for his family… He pleaded with Cersei in order to save the people of King’s Landing, not because he actually cares for Cersei above all. Just because his plans to help Daenerys have failed doesn’t mean it’s because of conflicting motives. It’s like you said previously, many of his plans made a certain type of sense on paper, but they ended up being the wrong decisions, and he was out-witted by the enemy instead. But to be clear, I think Tyrion and Varys suffer from bad writing in these last seasons as much as everyone else, they’re not half as sharp as they were before. Another thing I want to mention, I find it dumb everyone is now saying “Robert’s rebellion was based on a lie” and “Many people died for nothing”... Like, half the Houses didn’t rise against the Mad King just because of Robert’s love life dfhdjf. What happened to Lyanna got Robert riled up to gather the forces, but the people were in it to end the tyranny of the Mad King. That wasn’t for nothing. What Tywin did to King’s Landing was terrible, and Robert did excuse him for it… But let’s remember, Robert didn’t lie to anybody, and he wasn’t just being petty about “Lyanna not loving him back”. He genuinely thought she was kidnapped… I rather think Rhaegar and Lyanna hold responsibility for a lot, by escaping without telling anyone and without thinking about the consequences to everyone else.

Sansa became stronger IN SPITE of THESE EVENTS, despite what happened to her she rose above them, denied their hold on her; they are all dead, she and her house still stands. Sansa and House Stark aren't standing because LF, Joffrey, Ramsay or House Lannister won, but because the Starks are stronger inside and overcame their individual obstacles , though a couple had magic on their side.
@NovaLena222 жыл бұрын
Well said. I always hated that line of dialogue. It makes it seem as if Sansa (or all women) should be grateful for the horrors and abuse they suffer because it somehow makes them a stronger, better person. But what about the people who suffer through that same kind of abuse and are never the same, or become less than what they were, or who fall into a well of despair so deep that they never recover. People like Sansa were strong to begin with. Her trials and tribulations have only served to help her become the best version of herself. She started out as the daughter of a Stark. Now... she is a Stark.

GoT is nothing if not an extended exposition on humanity's possession of power over others, which can be summarized using the by now trite adage that "Power corrupts." And that obtains regardless of how one intends to use that power. Daenerys and Jon represent two polar opposite views of power: to seek it out and let it destroy you and those around you (Daenerys), or to treat it as a dangerous weapon that must only be possessed temporarily and preferably never completely (Jon).

My thoughts on this episode. - Jaime sleeping with Brienne felt weird. I always imagined them as just having a great respect for each other, Knight to Knight. Tormund courting her felt more natural and could have been earned if they continued to flesh it out. - Aegon shouldn’t have told the Stark sisters about his parentage, it wasn’t in character. Also robbing us of their reaction to the news was downright criminal. - Euron is just a terrible character and not in a good way. Also there’s no way Dany couldn’t have seen their ships having a literal bird’s eye view. Also also do you realize how insanely difficult it is to snipe an aerial enemy from the waves at that distance, even if it’s a dragon? Also also also Dany could have ended the iron fleet right there by simply flying behind them and burning them. - Ghost should have been petted. - Rip Missandei. Died in chains, just tragic. - finally, fuck Euron. Seriously, terrible character! 👎 also, did he not realize Tyrion tell Cersei she’s pregnant? How does he know that? - Rip Jaime’s character arc. - The Tyrion Character you see in these later seasons is not the same one as George RR Martin’s Tyrion. This one is a complete witless idiot.

You are so nice to apologize and share your second thoughts about somethings with no shaming of doing so (usually people stand by what they say even if it can be wrong) But, still, I think you don’t have to be sorry about saying what you think and feel, that’s the main reason why there is this reaction channels, to enjoy others people perspective of the show. Going in the most specific aspect of this, about Sansa, yes, it’s true she has motivation to behave in some ways due to what happened to her along story BUT there are things we cannot deny like the simple fact that Daenerys came to help in the war against the dead, no matter if she pretended to rule the north afterwards, but still she understood that this war was important and she gave her great part for this, the very least the north and Sansa can do is showing grateful and be nice. Sansa behaved really bad and rude to Daenerys before and after the battle and that is what really made me dislike her, even though I understand her character.

She's been showing streaks of unraveling, but all this is hitting her at once and she is at her tether. I cannot judge your instant reaction to Sansa. With the exceptions of the horrors she's been through, she has been my least favorite character since the beginning. Sansa has once again put Jon's life in danger. By telling Tyrion what she promised not to say, she instantly puts him in harm's way from Dany who could decide to eliminate her competition because she wants that throne so badly. Sansa is playing roulette with his life, because she's hoping it will give her what she's always wanted. The first time was during the battle of the bastards when she withheld the Vale army from him, of which he could have used a better strategy than what they had. I still believe she was hoping he would have died in the battle, because the look on her face when he climbed the pit to chase Ramsey seemed almost like she was disappointed. I know she's been through hell, but so has the rest of her family. None of them have ever thrown the others under the bus like that. When Arya and her were supposed to be fighting to put on a show for Baelish, Arya said some truths about her. One of Arya's skillsets are reading people well. The only thing I can give her credit for in this episode is what she told Dany about letting the soldiers rest and heal. Dany's response was an overreaction, imo. I liked Dany, but I have always been Team Jon, and yet Jon chose her. Although he does love her, he can't be with her the way she wants because he wasn't raised that way and it is too disturbing for him, I think. Now that Daenerys is unraveling the question remains how does she not go full on vengeful and murderous like her dad? And if you constantly need others to curb your temper, how much of a ruler can you be without turning into a tyrant/monster yourself? I know that Jaime thinks he still needs to pay for what he's done in the past and so he may feel he's no better than Cersei. Yes, she sent Bronn to murder both him and Tyrion, but then I can see him wanting to save his last child from possible death if he can. I think it was dumb of him to leave Brienne. She was the best thing that happened to him in a long time. They dumbed down Tormund's character and made him look foolish in order to make Jaime look like the better choice. I AM TEAM TORMUND. LOL

As for Varys's relationship with Dany, I'm guessing his doubts started around the time she badgered him for daring to serve previous rulers and threatening to burn him alive if he ever betrays her. I'm pretty sure this was not the kind of treatment he either expected or was accustomed to. All the previous rulers understood his role and his utility, and indeed he explained it once to Tyrion that he will never compromise on his services because it's the one thing keeping him alive. On Dany's court on the other hand, there is no need for his services. The sterile court is packed with obedient drones, the Unsullied, who relay everything to her. There are no sycophants courting favor, no power games played behind the scenes and absolutely no secrets to discover and relay to Dany. Dany's sterile ideological purity and absolutist style of ruling would never allow for any of it.

having an opinion is having an opinion. It may be strange, bizarre, awkward but you know what I think you are entitled to your opinion. That is what the world is all about. Thinking and sharing. I am not saying that everyone has a good opinion but as long as the opinion is not hurting or arming or shaming or .., endangering someone, we can share and open minded have an opinion,. Do not apologize for it. Your culture is different than mine and I am glad. that way I am learning. I am learning new things. We are learning new things. Sometime I think that American (Canadian included) are thinking that if you do not think the way we do ....something is wrong with you but NO we just come from living experiences. We have to be open minded ..... Difficult for some (sometime including me) of us. Love your reactions.
