I love that you two are actually nuanced in your reactions to Dany! Yes it’s unsettling what’s happening with her but she’s going through a lot of traumatic shit all At once. Almost no one I see react to this ever acknowledges that Daenerys has been pretty fucked over this season. She 100% correctly assumed what would happen if Jon told Sansa, she has done nothing but follow her advisors advice and it’s gone horribly, she lost a huge amount of her force defending the north, and they just killed her best friend in front of her. Of course she’s getting pushed to a breaking point!

She has lived through serious trauma and so much loss! *how she was treated by her brother *sold to the Dothraki *losing Drogo & miscarrying *putting her trust in people only to constantly be betrayed *keep trusting people who are not helping her at all *losing John *watching her children get killed in front of her! *And now her sweet, loyal and beautiful best friend beheaded in front of her & *Greyworm! *F off to everyone! Some don’t bat an eye at children being crucified alive but wince at the “slavers” getting the same treatment?! Tyrion can give that speech to the public how he wished they all had burned & died but Daenerys can’t talk the same?! Disgusting Cersei blows up the sept, innocent people and that part of kings landing when the bell k*lls people outside too. But not Daenerys?! Sorry for the rant!🤭😅

Emilia Clarke played that last bit at the end very good without saying a thing. The slow build up of rage and hatred in her look and facial expressions, even the little twitches on her face. Dany has now lost everyone she loves and kept her impulses in check, except Jon. If Jon hadn't distance himself from her and kept the relationship going like it was, things may have been different. I think Jamie deep down really hates himself, for his life experiences and what he has done in the past. Why would she give it up? Why should she? What other ruler would, except for the single man who doesn't want it and refuses it? Let's be really, really real: most of the people who binge the entire series over a period of months don't absorb nearly as much of it as those of us who watched it season to season. KZbin is full of reactors who are on, like, the sixth season and still can't remember basic stuff like Bran's name or that King's Landing is the capital. They miss half the dialogue by talking over it, so of course they have a shallower relationship with the show, and the serious flaws of the final seasons don't land the same way with them. The Bronn thing is completely in character. From day one we've known Bronn is a mercenary. Remember when asked if he would kill babies when ordered to, without question? He replied no, NOT without question... his question would be "For how much?" His own welfare, riches and status and such will always come first. That's who and what he has been this whole time. Yes, he is friendly with Tyrion and that's probably the only reason he talked to them first at all.

I don't know if it's very difficult to know who would rule better. Daenerys: she survived her brother's abuse; she was sold into marriage; she survived Drogo's daily rapes; she survived the fire and brought the dragons back to life; she led her people through the desert to safety; she dominated 3 powerful cities; freed enslaved people; gave up on her dreams to continue fighting for her children's freedom; she trapped the dragons so they wouldn't hurt anyone; she managed, through diplomacy, to rule a very powerful city. And Jon: Snow Jokes aside, Jon doesn't have what it takes (and doesn't even want) to rule a kingdom. He did well on the Watch, but that was it. He had a very good and privileged life, without knowing what the common people suffer. His place is in the North.
@1080lights10 ай бұрын
Daenerys managed to convince herself to fight for a certain cause, but her primary motivation has been to take the throne because it belongs to her. She has been “I will burn your city to the ground if you don’t give in to me” literally since season 2. And she’s had to be convinced by others with increasing frequency that “hey maybe let’s not do mass murder,” by Jorah and Barristan and Tyrion.
@sivannatalie10 ай бұрын
I would argue Dany’s more of a conqueror than a ruler. Look what happened in Meereen. She made mistake after mistake which led to a battle and she ended up killing a shit ton of people so she could move on to the next location.
@DiegoFernandesLima10 ай бұрын
@@1080lights And what's the problem with that? Everyone in this series has killed a bunch of people for disobedience. Jon killed a lot of people to take Winterfell back from Ramsey and eliminate him once and for all so the Starks could stay safe. Tyrion killed a lot of people in the war, Robb killed a lot of people to be king. Everyone killed to get what they want and also killed when they were disobeyed. Why can't Daeneryz do the same?

No. Jon was raised to be a steward. He knows how to lead, to make compromises, how to gain support and how to do it right. Yes, he had to make difficult decissions. Dany forced her way though. She doesn't know how to compromise - which is an impossible trait for a ruler. Btw: she failed with all 3 cities.

Those ballistas probably have more range and accuracy than WW1 anti-aircraft guns. It's fantasy, yes, but it still makes no sense.
@dnocturn8410 ай бұрын
It makes less sense, that Dany and her dragons overlooked them and straight flew into range. And her fleet also fails to spot them - while they were waaay too close. Must have been some people with eye problems and a good portion of distraction at play here.

Well, how much sense does it make when good guys and bad guys enter a shootout and every single bad guy dies while the good guys emerge unscathed? Such plot machinations are never a problem when they work in favor of the good guys, but when good guys are downed right when they are supposed to be on the final upswing to glorious victory, all of a sudden everyone is an expert in crossbow ballistics. As for the whole accuracy discussion, not much needed to hit a slow moving target unaware of your presence. Dany was frolicking in the clouds completely not bothering to check what's on the ground, plus Rhaegal himself obscured Dany's view of the Iron Fleet.
@dnocturn8410 ай бұрын
@@SerbAtheist Sure, some things never make sense. But here it is a huge plot point, to kill Danys second dragon, destroy her fleet and capture (and later kill) Missandei. This should not have been done so cheap. Like they had no other clue, how to make this happen with storytelling and just opted out for the cheapest and quickest way possible. You could argue about some other cheap deaths, like for example that of Sir Barristan, which was cheap and unworthy for his character too. But there is was kind of acceptable. And this scene is easily be fixable to make logical sense, without changing the outcome and all of this still in the same episode: Let Euron attack their fleet. He might have an advantage with speed, due to wind, ship design etc. And he is a skilled sea warrior. Add ballista attacks, if you really want to, why not. Dany spots this on her dragon, wants to warn them, but fails. She then joins the battle, to help out against Euron. Now she is in ballista range of Eurons ships. Now they shoot down dragon no. 2. Dany stops supporting her fleet, fleet gets destroyed, Missandei gets captured. Same thing, but now it makes sense. Surprising her in her position of advantage, high up in the sky, doesn't.

About the build up of Jon vs the Night King: how many build up storylines have actually ended up like we though they would/should? They had build up about Ned being the Hand and change things in KL (didn't achieve sh*t), the build up for him sneakily declaring "Robert's true hair King" instead of naming Joffrey (paper was totally meaningless and ripped up), build up of Rob going to war against KL (well... Red Wedding), build up of Khal Drogo sailing to Westeros to fight for Daeny to get the Iron Throne (pointlessly dead 2 episodes later), build up of Tyrion being so clever he could help Daeny regain the Throne in a few days (from whereon every plan he presents makes everything worse), build up of Arya becoming "no-one" (just for her to declare herself Arya of Winterfell and going back to her old life literally the next second)... I am sure I am forgetting a ton of other storylines ;-) So yeah, this show was telling the viewer from the first season on: "nothing will end as expected" - and people got pissed when nothing ended as expected 😂😂🤣
