1st Tejas MK1A held by IAF and IAF completed testing. But its engine belongs to ADA that's why no official hand over. As jet engine deal happens between IAF and GE and new engine which delivered from Oct is in possession with IAF base repair depot. So when u say no single MK1A delivered u are factually incorrect.

It takes 3 years to deliver the first plane after the purchase agreement is signed. In 3 years time HAL will be producing 24 jets per year. HAL will consider expanding their production capacity further if exports orders are secured. Hope you understand now why india is trying to sell Tejas mk1a.

The blunders have already been delivered to Azerbaijan, and there is no point in getting Tejas after 5-6years(with HALs slow production rate and slower delivery of engines from GE) At this time, ordering mig or sukhoi from war-torn Russia is a way better option for Armenia to tackle these Blunders of Azerbaijan.

Rafael and Captor radars were rejected because indigenous Uttam radar is superior. India wanted to fit Uttam in Rafale as well, but decided that integration cost in foreign aircraft was not cost effective for such a small order, so they went for second choice Rafael Thales radar..

The much superior state of the art indigenous Uttam modular radars were developed for the Tejas Mk2, AMCA, TEDBF, and Super Sukhoi upgrade. Since the extra 97 Tejas Mk1 A were ordered, as the Uttam is not ready for integration, it was decided that the Uttam would be fitted on those instead of the Elta radar. However since the Uttam has progressed ahead of schedule, it was decided that it would be fitted to Tejas Mk1A deliveries from the 40th of the first batch of 83 onward. Elta has also informed that there may be delays to supply of their radar because of supply chain delays so it is possible Uttam may replace it earlier than the 40th (assuming supplier timelines for delivery permit), provided the supply chain delay does not also affect Uttam. The use of the older Captor radar of the Typhoon and the Thales radar instead of the Uttam radar would be a retrograde step that would result in an inferior combat capability. The main reason apart from performance is that a foreign radar or avionics suite in the aircraft would require the supplier's approval to integrate any missile with the aircraft of any modification to the radar's hardware or software. For example with the Uttam and indigenous flight computer fitted to Tejas Mk 1A, Tejas Mk2, Mig 29, and Super Sukhoi, it would be possible to integrate and use any Indian, Russian, Israeli, European, or US weapon system on any of those aircraft (provided the pylon weight carrying capacity is appropriate). For example, the French have refused to allow integration of the Meteor missile on the IAF Tejas fitted with the Elta radar. The reason being that the Israelis are competitors, and they do not want to reveal the radar/avionics source codes to Elta to allow integration. The French are quite happy to allow integration of the Meteor on the Tejas with the Uttam radar, or on the Gripen however. Buying foreign aircraft comes with a lot of strings attached. The problems with keeping the Mirage 2000 and Jaguars flying is also due to the fact that the aircraft manufacturers and subcontractors will not license the production of spares to India. Why should they? They can make much more money selling new Rafales. This is the reason why the IN wanted the Uttam radar fitted to their Naval Rafales. Besides a much wider range of weapons, it would also allow LDRE to make improvements to the radar hardware and software to improve for example wave reflection clutter . Unfortunately this would have required complex integration with Dassault's avionics which would not have been economically viable for such a small number of aircraft, and Dassault would probably have priced their contribution prohibitively high anyway. Uttam is a very good radar - cutting edge in fact, and is a much better option than fitting any foreign radar for the reasons stated.

@@DataEngineering-e5l No doubt because ordering and fitting radars if not like ordering pizzas to take out - you have an existing contract with Elta, and there may be penalties involved, you have to conform that IAF is in agreement, and they take a long time to make any decisions, there are a lot of rubber stamping administrators in the government PMO who also take time to do the rubber stamping, and lastly the contract for the production and supply of the Uttam radars and its components has to be agreed with the supplier, and some time is required to mobilise the supply chain and production line. HAL can't just substitute the radars on their own. There are a lot of armchair posters who are just unable to understand this.

It's simple currently they know that in future they will get very low order for it so if they are producing it on a very large scale then soon in future they will have to shut or change all the assembly lines that will not be good in terms of cost management, so if they get order in large amount and they know that in future they will get orders too then they can produce it heavily and it will also be the efficient. For that we need multiple Tejas export orders. I think it's you who is emotional here not me. Just think critically.
