What will developers do? We don't even have test bed. We don't have engine certification facilities. We don't put enough money into the engine development programme. It will take about 10-25 years to develop a world class engine which can match NATO engines in reliability and longevity. Russian And Chinese engines have a lot of issue and very poor service life. Just creating and generating thrust is not enough. The engine has to be able to perform for about 10,000 hours of flight which Nato engines do. Russian engines only provide 2000 hours of flying. Chinese engines about 800-1000 flying hours.

Committee is “considering” it, next defense babus will get “shocked” again with Dassault’s quoted price, once the Chinese aircraft dev news is cold, they will sit of the decision again. In any case, we should be negotiating for F-35 with as much tech & domestic mfg component is possible & become part of Western R&D & supply-chain for 5th Gen+ fighters. S-57 will always hv the risk of China buying & reverse engineering it & will be behind the curve in technology & pace of innovation.

GE proposal of using the South Korean engine as an interim solution is an eyewash. GE proposal will increase the cost of project for India buying first the korean engine then paying again for the new actual one,secondly decrease in capability by accepting inferior low thrust engine and this will delay the project Mk 1A program. It would be better if the original GE 404 are only accepted and bought.

And Iraq has ordered 36 Rafael 3 years ago. And they still hasn't received anything. So 2032 will be the latest...India will receive if it orders by January 2025

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025 and good decision for repeat order for 36 rafales. Ask dassault to deliver ASAP and close this chapter of rafales. And concentrate on mrfa 114 order either way 5th generation or 4.5 with immediate delivery. The China doesn't work according to indias timelines. MoD please expedite this MRFA. It has become a curse and a compromise on national security. Also to HAL to evaluate the power required from Samsung 404 engine whether it has sufficient power for interim period. And once the delivery starts then swap it with new f404 engines. Good luck.

It much be nice to be in such decision-making positions and be separated from ground reality of things!! for God's sake, wake up and put some of that hardly used brain to some good use. Go for practical solutions like ORCA and AMCA and fast track them with different engine options instead of spending billions on a jet whose numbers doesn't make much difference in protecting Bharat's borders. It's only a matter of time before China puts its 4.5 and 5th gen in Pak, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka's "bases" and to surround Bharat and make the country to silently give away the control of trade and seas to it.

Purchase of 36 additional Rafale F-4 variants as a interim measure clearly indicates that MRFA is likely to get canceled. This interim measure is taken until Tejas Mk2 enters production. Once tejasmk2 enters production by 2029, then there will be no need for MRFA & IAF by then will increase Tejasmk2 orders to more than 250 units. Its a good sign of improvement. India should not be inducting more Rafales only 72 rafales thats almost 4 squadrons; which seems to be suitable enough for nuclear roles, and interdiction ground attack roles. Once tejasmk2 materializes IAF should also do away with acquiring more Tejas Mk1As, and the funds utilized for Mk1As and its GEF404 engines should instead be utilized behind the ongoing developments of the kaveri engines; because the era of light combat fighters like tejasmk1As is been internationally replaced with drones, UAVs & UCAVs. It will be better to integrate the kaveri engines into more UCAVs & UAV Ghatak variants in the future. Because lCA tejas mk1As are unlikely to attract international customers in the future because of the end of light combat aircrafts era. It will be wiser to pitch forth tejasmk2 Meduim weight fighters for export to international customers. More tejasmk2 fighters can be built simultaneously along with AMCA Mk2 variants to replace older sukhoi-30mki variants by 2042 onwards.

The Chinese 6th generation fighter jets are an engineering marvel. Both the J-20 and J-35 surpass many 4.5 generation aircraft and are nearly on par with the Su-57 in terms of capabilities. To keep up, India needs to produce/procure at least 100 Su-57s and potentially add 36 more Rafales. 36 more as we already have infrastructure and expertise and with 98 (36+36+26) we can have robust MRO facility. Even with these additions, our squadron strength would still be insufficient. Don't underestimate your enemy but increase your own strength. The 97 additional Tejas MK1A should be scrapped instead additional 97 should placed for Tejas mk2 as F-414 engine deal is nearing, F-404 we will have a lot of problems. We are 15 years behind in the aircraft technology. Its at-least 15 years for AMCA/ORCA to come in numbers. Sad thing is Tejas mk1a is already outdated even before the first aircraft is coming. Pakistan is not ordering anymore J17 and going for J10 and now J35.

Honestly great we should get additional rafale jets and then we could later buy su57 after aero india under the mrfa and it would satisy the current needs as we'll be buying nearly 150 jets which will definitely help the squadron no and all 150 would be advanced jets which are far better than the f18 super hornet as majority will be 5th gen sukhois this will help our airforce stay ahead and later amca will make us even stronger

India should buy 180 su57 with 100% tot for jet and AL51F engine. Build 5-5 factories for jet and engine each in India.Make 270 SU75 (when is available in 5-7 years) using the same factories and engine. Get AL31FN engine tot and use them in Tejas MK1&2 SU30MKI, make 120 Tejas MK1 and 180 TEJAS MK2 using this engine. replace all 270 su30mki engines with this new engine. Use the same AL51F or more refined varient in later stage (2030 or later wherever available) in AMCA MK1. make 180 AMCA MK1. Make a new engine with Russia for AMCA with 170+ kn thrust with 6th gen tech. Get the tot and IPR for that engine. Use that engine for AMCA MK2. A total of 1200 jets can be made in India in the next 10 years.if Each factories produce 24 jets and engine per year, we can have 120 jets every year. That will make India the world's jet factory and Indian private companies can have the experience of making advanced fighters and parts like lockhead Martin and other Europeans companies.We can build the proper ecosystem for defence.

India has its own 80 kN Kaveri Engines, why would they go for a 78 kN foreign engine on an interim basis. Also, they would be far more expensive than the domestic engines.

Why Indian Government and HAL or DRDO didn't hired knowledgeable and experienced Aeronautical Engineers and Scientists in Aviation projects from abroads + Indian aeronautical engineers and tech geniuses from India and abroads why are they not ready to achieve successful mission on manufacturing advance and modern Fighter jets with latest technologies and combat capabilities why not daring to spend an enough investment on it for the project and salaries that can competed with other big Aviation companies from across the globe the existing Engineers and Scientists of DRDO can developed Ramjet engines for Rockets why they cannot do it for the AMCA and other 6 Gen fighter jets engines or even the future 7 Gen fighter Jets engines with the help of others from abroads

Additional order of 36 Rafales should have been ordered long back pathetic decision making. Still the order for Rafale Marines haven’t been placed yet like wth is happening. No doubt Government is doing great job with modernization however taking critical decisions foreseeing future scenarios is still lacking.
