I always have a problem with these kinds of questions. Because it says "people tell me that...", they don't, but what the question says about me is still true. So then I'm conflicted with what to answer... I LOVE the sound of thunder and rain, it's very calming. It makes me wanna go outside. Or sleep.

I don't hang out with people enough to get insight on how they view me, ha. The people who see me the most are co-workers and I don't think they are going to give me that kind of observation. That noise question was hard.... I HATE beeping alarms, but I love thunder, ha. I just ignored the thunder part and answered for the fire alarm.

I think I always score low on these because I take the question very literally. Eg I know that I have a lot of tics but people have not pointed them out to me, so I have to click "disagree" :P

Hmm think that's also why some don't get diagnosed until much later in life as they are aware of what they do and mask it...

Same! They should throw in some hidden trick questions to assess how literally you're taking the questions overall and then use your literalness as part of your score. I also suck at generalizing, so I pretty much want to write a paragraph for every single questions explaining in great detail why I responded the way I did... which I think would also shed some light on my neurology. ;) Actually I scored really low on this one, since I mask a lot and these questions were not phrased to take that into account. >:/

So many different ways to phrase "do you suck at eye contact?" Yes, yes I do. Like every other category scored around the middle, aggression very low, and eye contact was almost off the scale.

I felt like some of the questions were hard to answer as they were phrased in ways that don't really reflect my day-to-day experience, I felt much the same about the AQ test but found that the questions were somewhat easier for me to translate into my experience and was surprised that I got 36/50 on the AQ test.

1:48 Along with a bunch of other questions you seemed to interpret as being autistic means emotionless. I interpreted these as a referring to depression symptoms. Flat mood, rarely happy, usually sad, classic depression symptoms. Tho I do not see why this was included

lol, it just says, "Your autism spectrum symptoms are high." it gave me the graph too... I was high in poor Eye contact, social difficulties and fixations, lowest in depression and next was noise sensitivity. My mom doesn't want it to be true... but it seems to be.

@Just a genderfluid lesbian I was badly bullied in school so i would catch myself acting autistic and think to myself "Stop acting autistic people are going to make fun of you or think you're imitating autistic people to make fun of them." My dumb ass didn't consider that i was acting autistic because I was autistic. And through that I always associated acting autistic to being picked on so I learned to mask a lot.

I’m an autistic adult. I wasn’t diagnosed till I was 16. This test was something that was fun to take. I am now 32 and I do have stims that I don’t know that I do but I do them. I did have trouble sleeping when I was a kid. I had all the “classic” signs when I was younger. I wish you the best and you gained a new sub from me.

Hi Lori! Thanks for checking out the video :) i would say traits change over time as we grow. I mean for example I was really sensitive to loud noises so music concerts were not my things until I started going to gigs and playing in bands. It's just a thing that happens.

hi andy! I actually got diagnosed last Tuesday and prior to Tuesday, I'd been waiting ALL year for my diagnosis so I already figured that I had ASD - turns out, I do, LOL. not sure if it's high functioning as we have yet to actually discuss where on the spectrum I am and whatnot. though, I still did take the test, I got the highest in tics and fidgets, second highest in depression, (which was quite sad to see) and the third highest in abnormal posture; it wasn't TOO surprising to see, just, quite unsettling, I suppose? since, I'm impatient and want to know more about myself now it was really nice to see you take the test and comment on the minor things and such, it made it a lot more relaxing to take the test as I took the after I watched this video

I scored high. I'll detail the specific 'score' for each facet. I scored higher on Noise Sensitivity than I expected. Depression: Almost 3rd line from center. Fixations: Little above 3rd line from center. Abnormal/Flat Speech: Halfway between 2nd and 3rd line from center. Noise Sensitivity: A little above 3rd line from center. Social Difficulty: Almost on the 4th line from center(could barely see a separation). Anxiety: Almost on 4th line from center.^ Abnormal Posture: On 4th line from center. Poor Eye Contact: Full Pie Slice. Tics and Fidgets: 3 3/4 lines from center. Aggression: Slightly below 2nd line from center(My lowest).

Thunder = impressive/looks (lightning) awesome. When I was a kid (not anymore unfortunately) I was able to predict when a thunderstorm would hit to with in about 15 minutes (but no longer than a day ahead) ;) I've got to say if they're looking at co-morbid conditions (such as depression) at the same time there are no where near enough questions. Gotta say this one's a bit pants as far as I can see. It sounds like it's been done with no input from someone on the spectrum. Another good vid ;)

I love thunderstorms so much. Big special interest. And I love the sound of thunder in a big, stimmy way. Unless it’s lightning hitting right next to me or something but who loves that? I’ve been way too close to some lightning strikes. I also didn’t like some of the titles. Tics and fidgets? Aggression? I am definitely not aggressive. “Overly defensive is overstimulated” sure.

I've always loved lightning storms. Once a lightning bolt came through the ceiling and missed my head by about a yard. It looked really different from what I had imagined. The next day I realized that most of the houses on my hill (in Vermont) had lightning rods. I was also hit by lightning in my car. I was okay, but I had to replace most of the electrical system of the car. Both of these events were accompanied by a bomb-like noise and blinding light. Curiously, I made a joke about this when I was young. I had a hat with a hole in it and someone asked what made the hole, I said (lying) "Lightning....on Trail Peak."

My poor eye contact is slightly higher tics and fidgets is a bit lower (but still moderately high) aggression, depression, abnormal/flat speech, and noise sensitivity just a tad higher (not much) fixations and abnormal posture is the same social difficulty is a bit higher (between the 3rd and 4th lines) anxiety is just a tiny bit higher but that's about as high as it can go. It says my autism spectrum symptoms are high.

Wait, intrusive thoughts about bad things happening are a sign of OCD? Is... is call of the void a sign of OCD? That would explain a lot, honestly. I've been suspecting more and more that I have OCD because I have this mental cycle I have to go through to feel balanced and it gets worse as I get older. It's always entertaining (and sometimes a little frustrating) to see how neurotypicals interpret our behavior based on what they can see from the outside. The thing about rarely feeling happy and things like that is the result of people equating flat affect with not actually feeling anything. I don't know about anyone else, but for my part I just don't feel the need to show my emotions on my face when I'm content, I save the facial expressions for big stuff unless I just really feel like smiling that day. Oh, and another interesting thing I have found is that some people (though not all) who have never experienced what it's like to not have a developed theory of mind tend to be overconfident in their ability to read other people, may assume they know everything about social interaction and psychology (despite sometimes being _less_ empathetic because of their overconfidence), and tend to be quick to judge. For example, assuming someone is being "rude" because they don't like their mannerisms or the way they talk. Does speaking like a poetic Vulcan count as speaking like a robot? I speak earnestly and passionately with tons of figures of speech, colloquial slang, precise wording, and the occasional pun or snark, and I end up sounding like a poem or something, but that said all my arguments and speeches are firmly centered around logic and what makes sense.
@IndieAndy
@IndieAndy 4 жыл бұрын
I would have said so as I know a few autistic people who also have OCD and it's something that comes up from time to time. I did skim read your comment just due to not processing long comments at the moment but I have to say that the part about the overconfidence in reading people I 100% believe! The people in real life I have to spend time with can be very over confident and try reading people and just fail miserably!

I don't have a diagnosis, though I am in the process of seeking out someone to officially say yay or nay... but autism does make my childhood make soo much more sense, and make me feel less like a weird alien. So, take this as from someone who is maybe not autistic or low on the spectrum? I am still new with diving into the autistic community. The phrase, "person with autistic traits," has felt fitting at least. Anyways.. I took this test and the AQ after watching both of your videos and Yo Samdy Sam's video. I scored moderate on this one, and just one point too low on the other. I am high on the fourth level on fixations (though probably not high enough, I can REALLY get sucked in by things that interest me), noise sensitivity, and abnormal posture. Slightly lower on poor eye contact, but if I would have taken this at a younger age (I'm in my 40s) I would have scored higher. Tics, anxiety, and social difficulty are only in the third. Though, like the eye contact, I would have scored much higher in the social difficulty if I took this test 10 or 20 years ago. I've put in a lot of work of trying to figure out how to communicate with people. I also joined a career with a lot of social rules, that probably helped since it, "taught," me how to behave (or mask?) around people. Though, outside of my job I feel a bit more like a fish out of water with social engagements.

And I’m scared to ask my mom about it, because last time I asked her about similar stuff (I told her I might have ADHD) she got kinda mad and said it wasn’t ADHD and it was because I spend so much time on my screen, and I worry like a lot, so she got mad over me searching about it, though I think I might have autism but I’m too scared to ask my mom.
