Holy crap, dude. This trilogy has basically covered my childhood interests then gone all the way up to now. My kids (24 and 21) have taken an interest in the things I was into growing up, getting more of a taste for cyberpunk the more I showed them. Last year's game didn't hurt either. But this trilogy has been an amazing resource, opening up their reading and movie experiences in a major way. The nostalgia trip for me has been 2nd to none as well, fyi. THANKYOU! Okay, when you mentioned for the Ghost in the Shell movie that the composer based the opening music on Bulgarian choir I physically started. No one ever acknowledges our existence in the West so the fact that you knew this (cause of your research) just makes me really really happy. Thank you. Fun fact: they did try to have a Bulgarian choir sing the song but they turned it down because they were confused/couldn't sing it in the language they asked.

Northeast of Greece, I assure you we know who you are in the west. We just rarely visit because Greece and Turkey are more convenient flight routes and the history in those two appeal to us more than Bulgarian sites do. That said though, I find it pretty cool how your nation basically could have conquered Eastern Rome at one point but preferred working as mercenaries for them and keeping to their own turf instead 😉👍🏼

It's shocking how much you feel the post-modernism dripping off of anything Cyberpunk. This desire to escape the current life, to a future no matter how flawed (due to human nature or continuing issues). Everything was cleanly organized, and I really enjoyed the Ghost in the Shell segment. Quality video as always Indigo congrats on getting this thing out. Now MMO developers pls watch these and make a cyberpunk MMO, thanks!

Who in their right mind would want to live in any of cyberpunk-worlds? 90% are dystopias and life there just sucks, hard. Sure, if you were an ultra-wealthy corporate-tool that might work out alright, but in what world wouldn't it? For the rest you are either practically a modern work-slave, or part of the violent underbelly of society _(the punk part)_ It's the same like most mediaeval reenacters told me: The middle ages were cool and all, but you wouldn't want to live there for more than a weekend. Same principal applies here.

@@Scytha86 Oh yeah, we are already 100% in the beginning years of a cyberpunk-dystopia, the stuff that gets skimped over in most forewords within a few sentences. The main differences currently are: • We lack really strong, yet small power sources necessary to run cybernetics like in CP2077 _(we can already run simple once for a day or so)_ • We lack really sophisticated neurological interfaces to connect cyberware and software to our brains • We don't have open warzones _(yet)_ were police wont help you and you *have* to carry guns just to survive the day, think Mogadishu in the 90s at its worst, just on an almost global scale There are of course more differences, but our present wouldn't look out of place as a recent past in most cyberpunk-works.

@Skiamakhos3 жыл бұрын
Cyberpunk 2077 is just the latest iteration though - I was playing R. Talsorian Games' Cyberpunk back in '88, long before Deus Ex came out. This is the good thing though: both are just part of a sci fi subculture that goes back to Philip K Dick's novels & short stories, which themselves owe a fair bit to the likes of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, who herself was inspired by Samuel Taylor Coleridge's nightmare visions of "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" (see her arctic scenes in particular - but also there's fanmail she sent him when she was a girl). Ain't culture great? :-D

@@wiwysova Exactly, people were simping the Blade Runner sequel before the blasted CDPR game, even before that the mainstream were bombarded with the word "cyberpunk" from descriptions of anime like Psycho Pass, Serial Experiments Lain or in a way Ergo Proxy, but also from people's description of the Deus Ex games. The one thing that blew up with Cyberpunk's release was the popularity of the subgenre of electronic music "Midtempo" erroneously called "Cyberpunk" as a music genre, all cause of the OST's heavy use of that subgenre.
@milkjug42373 жыл бұрын

I almost included a section about Armitage III. It was one of the earliest cyberpunk anime I watched back in the day, but I had to pick my battles. Too many titles to cover in this series. Some of the visuals are really stunning, though, so I had to include them somewhere.

I am beyond ecstatic that this has been released saw part 1 and was enthralled yet again by this amazing genre and all the ideas borne from it. I can only say that this is nothing short of an excellent production in which a lot of love and care has gone into it and i am nothing short of amazed. Thank you for creating such a deep dive into this genre and showing and exploring all its forms and mediums.
