I think Terang bulan is a brand ot mark of martabak. Balinese than associated it with martabak than start calling it terang bulan. The same as how Indonesian called toothpaste "odol". Odol is actually a brand / mark.

yeah we Indonesian love to use cheese (usually processed cheese) in sweet dishes. the sweet salty taste is heavenly. and the other sweet combination is chocholate and peanut,and chocolate banana

I still can't get over how non SEA people pronounce martabak manis. Here are some tips: the A is more to the front of your mouth and use the same stress for the words. People in English speaking countries use lexical stress like ENGlish and aBOUT. In Indonesia, it's pronounced MARTABAK MANIS and not MARtabak MANis. The I sounds more like a double E but shorter.

Martabak manis can be found in Malaysia and Singapore but they called apam balik or terang bulan, it's a snack originated from Fujian China called man jiang kuih/满煎粿, the version in Malaysia and Singapore are more similar to the original Fujian version, usually with peanuts, butter and sugar and sometime sweetcorn as fillings, while the Indonesian version I would say totally became a whole different thing with all those chocolate and cheese fillings.

Finally found a video describing ‘Martabak Manis’ of Indonesia only to find out that a very similar snack can be found in Singapore and Malaysia where it’s known as ‘Appom Balik’. If you’re ever back in Singapore give their version of Murtabak a try when you are feeling famished…..Zam-Zam restaurant serves the whopper version👍😋

True, but my whole family (including me) thinks that it's so rich that we could never finish the whole thing alone. Also, the ones I can find everywhere use the "new" recipe (id: versi martabak h**land), but there's this married couple near my house that use the old recipe, and I swear there's always a long queue whenever I buy it (and they open 6 days a week; they take breaks regularly and yet people keep coming)
