Spent 15 years missing the late night Singapore mee goreng I used to crave after. This was the first recipe that actually hit the mark. It’s easy to do, and the flavor is killer!

Hi Marion! I'm Indonesian and I adore this channel. But when you said "kekap manis" I was like, huh? What? Then it hit me. OHHH it's kecap manis It's actually pronounced as "ke-chap manis", but thanks for sharing this recipe, much love from Indonesia ♡

Right! I was wondering what that was too. The worst part? This chick didn't even wonder for a second there is something truly f*cked up in the way she butchered that word!

Wasn't sure about this recipe until she mentioned the fish paste. So many recipes miss this. I recently added fish sauce and a bit of sugar to my Mee Goreng, and it took it to the next level. This was based on Vietnamese dipping sauce, which tastes surprisingly similar to Indomie Mee Goreng :)

As a Indonesian, I can approve this is mie goreng, but “kacap manis” is not pronounced like this.
@cheese_potato Жыл бұрын
I didn't have Kecap Manis and can't use shrimp paste being a vegetarian. But this was a dish best on its own... I used dark brown sugar and replaced the meat with mushrooms, also added white parts of scallions and red chilli flakes to oil along with garlic before cooking my mushrooms... this was the best noodles recipe so far I have ever made...

For me shrimp paste is actually one of the key flavours not only a hidden umami kick 😂 I use it the same way that its used in this recipe and since I got a jar of sambal terasi from my indonesian colleague it finally seems to be more authentic. But I would go for less though when cooking for friends.

Instead of making ribbon eggs and chopping the garlic, you can improve the taste by scrambling the eggs and make the garlic to a paste which you add at to the wok. The scrambled eggs added after the paste would bind all the tastes together ;) everything else is exactly the same afterwards :)
