My brother lives in Finland. I visited him and his family a couple of months ago and I'm hoping to visit again next year. I'm trying to learn Finnish so I can have a conversation with his wife and children in their native language. They speak English to but I just think that it would be cool to have a conversation with them in Finnish. I found Finland to be a nice and calm country when I visited :-) * I'm from England *

I'm Indonesian, I don't know finnish but last year I stumbled upon Finnish Christmas songs in KZbin for some reason. Probably someday I'll add Finnish into my foreign languages list 😁

I have to say that the reason i do not fix how someone speaks finnish is because then there would be no end, we would not get anywhere in the conversation.

Thanks for the comment! Wow we share the similar story as I started this channel when I was in Japan for exchange studies for a year. In my case I'm a bit lucky cos I have a Japanese girlfriend and we are talking in Japanese everyday, but I'm also playing video games in Japanese (e.g. Pokemon) and using some flashcard apps to keep up. Did you make any Japanese friends? Try reaching out to them. :)
@deathbytechnox37 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I never made any Japanese friends, which would have probably been the best thing to do. They even held conversation tables off campus to help practice, but I never went D: My plans for the future have changed slightly, though, and I plan to study in Finland within the next year or two, so I'm trying to find as many free, at-home learning sites and books, but I should probably also find some people online to have practice conversations with.

She is absolutely great at Finnish and also stunningly magnificent at expressing herself, even in Finnish that she hasn't learned for that long. Not so many people have that kind of sense on languages. I hope she has a great life in Finland even though most of us are not that welcoming, which I feel so sorry about! I just need to add, if she's ever to hear, that I've never heard someone speak so fluent Finnish that has stayed in here for only that amount of time.

6:50 i'd like to point out that other than not wanting to be rude the reason might be they just want to talk with you. Fixing every single grammartical error makes the conversation slow and the naturality just disappears. Even finnish people themselves sometimes accidentally blunder with the endings and the cases so why shouldn't I expect a foreigner to do the same
