Great job and maybe a catastrophe averted. We do virtually the same thing when an RV comes in with the Smoke detector and or propane alarm out of date or not working. We never ask the customer for permission to replace it and have never had a problem doing so. Most customers are very appreciative for looking out for their safety :) Great video as always :)

"Those safety switches are there for a reason." Yeah. Company CYA against law suits from stupid people. Now I have a mower that shuts the deck off every time I back up, unless I grab the PTO switch and hold it up. Every. Frickin. Time. So the problem is, my fix for that problem (a clothes pin that holds up the PTO switch) results in a setup that is more dangerous than it should be. When safety interlocks get ridiculous, customers will "fix" the problem in potentially dangerous ways. I was eight years old when my dad put me on the John Deere 110 and told me to mow the lawn. No safety interlocks on those tractors built in 1970. I'm still here, with all my fingers and toes. I don't think it's because I'm lucky. I think it's because I'm not stupid.

I could not agree more about some of the safety switches, especially the reverse one. I have the same feature on my riding mower that cannot be bypassed easily because it must be turned each time the key is in the on position to indicate you know to beware of children/pets around. Yes, customers will modify things when they are over engineered or difficult. This customers mower would have worked perfect with a new $20 switch but instead it was crudely modified to be dangerous. I know you are smarter than to install something like this but many times people need a reminder that safety is important. Thanks for watching!

I’ve always been told that an engine with a compression relief will not give you a true reading with a compression gauge. I was just told by someone today that after several rotations you’ll get a true rating. Curious as to what your thoughts on the subject are. Thank you.

Never will get a true reading. Just do a leakdown test if it has the compression release. Takes everything else out of the equation

@@IndRepair I agree with you. I use my single gauge more than the dual. Been around long enough to unhook high tension lead. Slowly turn push mower blade by hand. A good bounce back meant good compression. Yes sir, little snow on the mountain. LOL. thanks and take care.

I asked about my starter disengaging too fast. The bendix mates but then drops out. Is the spring loosing tension. I replace parts, but I have to know why I’m doing it.

I would remove the Bendix and inspect, probably partially stripped out or the drive shaft is worn
