Logical, methodical, always very well-presented. Great video.

Good job, Martin! Always a good day when you get a freebie and all it really needs is a carb clean and rebuild! Great for the bottom line! 🔧👍

Great video Martin. I assume the problem was the seat switch that wouldn't let the mower crank? I pulled the seat switch on my mower and removed the metal, pronged safety switch just like you did and I get nothing when I turn the key. I assume that means the seat switch is the problem or could it be one of the remaining safety switches? Have you ever made a video on testing the different safety switches on mowers?

There is a video on testing safeties at kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2mloYN-j9CcidU that we made

Could you explain how to tighten up the steering on those riders? Mine developed so much slop in it. New parts don't get it all out.
@IndRepair6 ай бұрын
What all was replaced? Most times it is in the steering bushings at the shaft or steering plate. It could also be axle or wheel spindle play

Do you have an opinion which carb setup is better for the Briggs and Stratton v-twin, the single or double barrel carb.?? I have no experience with the single yet and little- next to nothing with the double. Only replaced doubles with after market ones, never cleaned them.
@IndRepair6 ай бұрын
I prefer the single barrel but they are both Nikki carburetors, which are not great to work on and more ethanol sensitive. Bottom line is neither are great designs in my opinion

I have used probably 5 or 6 different brands and it is the only one that I have seen that didn't leak out of the bottom after using for a while. I believe they will all have an issue eventually if you use them for gas because it swells the material used to make the suction against the middle tube. These have worked well longer than other brands but we are sure not to put gas through the ones we use the manual pumps on

Martin, have you done any videos on Snapper/Ferris zero turns? I've got my first ZT in for service/repair Snapper pro s150xt/Kawi FX730v and I'm going to have to replace both the drive and deck belts (among other things). I did do a search on your channel and couldn't come up with anything. FWIW, the ID tag on this says B&S, so I guess they must have been the ones who bought up Snapper.
@IndRepair5 ай бұрын
I sure do not, hey are very similar to many others mowers but not exactly the same. I have full faith in you being able to get it done!

u think i should use high millage oil to prevent leaks
@IndRepair6 ай бұрын
Thicker oil will always leak less but also flows slower. It may help a little but don't think the difference will be measurable

you can actually an air fluid evakuator to suck out gas? lmk.
@IndRepair6 ай бұрын
They do not mention it on them and probably don't just incase they were to catch static electricity or something and light up. That being said, we use them for fuel consistently without issue...

I have a john deere with a 22 horsepower Briggs. Its running lean. I'm thinking probably intake manifold gaskets. Im prepared to drill out the jets as well it that doesn't work. Briggs are known for running lean so I may go ahead and increase the jets by at least 1 size.
@IndRepair6 ай бұрын
They definitely lean them out enough to sell in California, which means that the jets are definitely undersized

Why a fuel pump on a gravity fed tank?
@IndRepair5 ай бұрын
They love to do silly things like this. I believe the tank bottom actually sits just below where it would need to completely empty though
