"Indu Enage Govindaa"........reminded of the the same sung by late. PB Shrinivas in the movie "Mantralaya Mahime" ( Kannada), directed by T. V. Singh Thakur, based on the book Sri Raghavendra Vijaya written by Rajaguru Rajacharya, and stars Super Star Rajkumar in the role of Raghavendra Swami, a Hindu saint who lived in the 17th century. Legendary Udaykumar, top actresses -Jayanthi and Kalpana appeared in pivotal roles in the film. The music of the film was composed by the duo Rajan-Nagendra with lyrics for the soundtrack penned by G. V. Iyer. The film is being colorised in wide-screen and set to release in this year 2022. This song in Bhairavi ragam was written by Gurusarvabhouma Raghavendra Swamy. Though it is a Bhairavi is a 'sampoorna ragam', it has two different dhaivathams in its scale making it a Bhashanga Ragam, and hence is not classified as a 'melakarta ragam' (parent scale). It is considered a janya of the 20th Melakarta - Natabhairavi. Here the song is in 'Mukhari'......The ragam that is often spoken of as a shoka rasa, but in reality it also exudes bhakthi rasa and shanta rasa effectively...It is full of emotive appeal. Mukhari’s allied ragas include Huseni, Bhairavi, Salagabhairavi, Kokilavarali and Maanji. Mukhari has to be enunciated with very precise swara positions and gamakas in order to achieve propriety, to avoid meandering into neighbouring pastures. It includes Sadja, Chatusruti Rishabha, Suddha Madhyama, Panchama, Chatusruti Dhaivata (ascent) and Suddha Dhaivata (descent), and Kaisiki Nishada. The Sadharana Gandhara appears in the avarohana and is absent in the ascent. The important phrases in Mukhari include ‘SRM G, RS’ where the emphasis is on the Madhyama, and ‘PDSR’ where the Rishabha is emphasised. It is a special raga, full of melodic possibilities. Lyrics are totally amiss here. You have to research more. You missed ‘ge’ a couple of times initially. Enage govinda. It is not ninna. It is ninnaya paadaaeavindava. It is not Mukunda. It is Mukundane. It cannot be so many mistakes in the first line itself. And it continues with the rest of the pada.

@@subramanyamjois624 there is nothing to feel bad sir. Clearly they have the wrong lyrics throughout the pada. That is not acceptable. We are not pointing at their musical ability here. Simply highlighting that this rendition has too many errors which is not fair to the composer: without our great composer gurus, today’s musicians are nothing. All their fame pivots on the merit of our composers.

It is my experience some singers eliminate or add a letter or two to their convenience and adjust and keep melody and refining the beauty of the raga.The lyrics are hundreds years old,so ommissions and commissions are possible.let us enjoy the melody and bhakthi in the rendition.I am not a qualified classical singer but the above is my observation.
