The project only went 3 weeks and 11 million dollars over budget. And it's still in beta.
"Homemade" Induction Brass Annealer built around the chineasium ZVS induction board. Raspberry PI Zero is the brains of the operation. 12vdc power supply for ancillary items. 48vdc power supply for the induction board.
The case feeder is a headache and a half, hopefully a ground breaking update to come in the near future for that.
The coil is nearly 3" diameter which is far too big, but I had to stop ruining copper. In the future I plan on trying the sand or salt trick. It works for the time being, but takes considerably longer to get the brass up to temp.

This is insanely awesome! I'm just getting into diy induction annealing. I think it is very consistent compared to flame annealing.

Thanks! I'm probably about $300 into it, but I had a lot of the small miscellaneous fasteners, wiring, etc. Not the most cost effective but fun and a really good learning experience. I'm away from home for a while but I plan on redoing the coil in the future to get the radius down.

Hi, great Video I love your brass feeder. Unfortiunatly I wasn‘t quite able to realise it with Arduino. For you long heating duration: I use 4mm OD 3mm ID copper pipe with 6x 30mm windings, in an 48V system. With this i get ~3 Second for .338LM ~ 5.2s with glass insulation. And

Turn the coil to a smaller diameter. I'm making one also. I'm using a Raspberry Pi Pico.

Yeah, I gave up after kinking too much tubing. When time allows I'll try the sand method and see how that goes.

@@zsdewitt I 3D printed a spiral mandrel to bend 5/32" copper tubing around.

@@stbrunton I actually tried that but it failed under the pressure. Admittedly, the infill wasn't very high and I didn't revise it before giving up. Did you have good results with yours?

@@zsdewitt I got it to work.

You can also fill it with water and close both ends. What is much easier is just to use thinner copper tube (car brake line etc). Larger area is better for high frequency but at 48V I’m melting my cases in 0.9 seconds… I’m now running on 24V, it takes a bit more time but therefor it heats the neck and shoulder more even. I had the problem my necks where melting before the shoulder got annealed 😅

This is the best annealing setup I've seen!! If I may ask, do you have a parts list and a schematic on how to assemble it?
@zsdewitt
@zsdewitt 2 жыл бұрын
I really wish I would have better documented the entire build. If only I could do it over again. That being said, I can come up with a pretty inclusive BOM. A schematic would be nice too, but I won't have time for at least the next few weeks. It's still very much a work in progress and I'm on an extended work trip right now, so no progress is being made.

@@zsdewitt I gotcha. It's a nice piece of kit thats for sure! Well I'll keep your video up and subscribe to your channel to see for more updates! Thanks for the reply!

This is great, isnt the coil too big¿

Yeah, I definitely need to rework it to have a tighter radius.
