@15:00, You said the synchronous motor with damper winding(without rotor excitation) starting principle is same with Induction motor starting principles, right? So in that synchronous motor starting procedure video you explained, at time t=0, a CCW torque will produce, and at time t=3/20ms, CCW torque is produced right? So that means in one complete cycle, 2 values of tourque induces and both will be in CCW direction and then rotor starts to rotate. So in induction motor also, in one complete electrical cycle, only 2 times(t=0, t=3/20ms) torques are producing? So comparing same rating of syn motor(with damper winding and with field excitation) and induction motors, torque will be less in induction motors right? Can u please clear my doubt Varun

The field direction would be same, just the current direction reverses...so the force direction will reverse...giving a unidirectional torque overall
