I am an RN for 35 plus years- wide range of experiences, including Labor&Delivery and PostPartum. There is this one sentence I seem to repeat to many of my new moms and dads and I truly love this sentence: "The nights are sooo long, but the years are so short". Trust me, it is true. It just put things into the right perspective. Your baby is already 4 weeks old, enjoy NOW, like this second. And keep this especially in mind, when your baby has been crying for many hours through, had it's first temper tantrum, trouble at school, teenage years and so on. Keep remembering how short the years are. We all come and go, the universe is endless, GOD is alpha and omega, we are so small. But we do have NOW!

We had a very similar experience! Did cervadil and pitocin and almost 40 hrs of labor. I never dilated. Your video is so encouraging for new moms and I think its wise to not hold on too tightly to the birth plan.

Had my firstborn 35 years ago. My sister tricked me into drinking castor oil (I had never even heard of it) I woke up the next morning to my water breaking. I delivered 3 hours later with 10 minutes of pushing...I will say that I guess it worked but NEVER again 😂😂.

I had an emergency c section 34 years ago due to cord prolapse. Very scary. I had to be put to sleep. Horrific. Thankfully he and I were fine. It kinda brought back all the feelings. Birth plans weren’t even talked about back then. Glad your beautiful boy is happy and healthy.

Congratulations! My brother was born just a few ounces short of 12lbs. The doctor had to break his collar bone. Glad you went for the c-section.

I’m being induced next week Wednesday with my first & im watching every video I can as I also really want an unmedicated birth. I’m personally scared of the epidural than anything but I love your words of wisdom & thank you for sharing❤️

Congratulations Jeni! It will be a beautiful and life changing experience no matter the outcome, so don’t worry too much! I was very scared of getting an epidural, but it was a tool I very much needed in my birthing process. Best of luck to a healthy and happy unmedicated delivery!

I don’t quite understand the movement to insist women should go through birth without pain relief. Why is it better to feel extreme pain? Imagine if someone said they are so proud they endured kidney stone pain and passed it without meds. We’d be like okay.. but.. why put yourself through that? Everyone can make up their own minds. I just don’t quite get why ppl think we should endure such pain.

I am guessing you do not know the benefits of unmedicated labor. Maybe you should look those up.

Most people want to go unmedicated because people say it helps you heal faster, not risk the epidural risks, etc. so it’s just a choice they make based on what’s more important to them. I’m very pro-medicated for the reasons you stated as well (hello pain relief!) but I do know there are some risk with blood pressure or spinal issues that could happen but I’m ok with it.

Going a natural birth without induction, artificially breaking your water or epidural greatly increases your chances of not having a c section

Awe thank you! He’s wonderful. He was 9 pounds and 22 inches! A big boy for sure
