JC: I'm running out of water Also JC: I have 2 Water Pumps set to lowest Priority workspace so they are very rarely actually pumping water. I believe that the 1 bramble bramble was actually harvested when it was cut down, instead of providing a log.

Yeah, just went back to look at the description at 35:05 , and there's no log option as a resource. I think it's now a clear-cut and replant kind of "crop". Or, cut strips to gather flowers and let them grow back naturally.

Currently you use Lumberjacks to harvest them, but the mod creator Lapan saw JC getting confused and changed it again.

Hi Jc, good vid, mod creator commented on vid 2 about how brambles work, have to cut wild ones. Someone else did on vid 1 as well. And i think to build the pit and ladder lodge you need the "kissing" storages beside for them to stand on. Or a platform.

It would better if the gatherer flag had "(domesticated)" besides the "Bramble flowers" to make it more clear what it does.

If you go to 35:29 when you were watching the beaver cut the wild bramble down, you'll notice that a single bramble flower appeared in the inventory with the chestnuts. That's where your one bramble flower came from! 😂

Wild brambles are cut down to produce a bramble flower. Domestic brambles cut down produce wood, and gathered produce flowers.

That one bramble flower came from the one bramble bush cut down when you marked a few of them for cutting. The collected bramble flower showed in the resource list for a short time (see timestamp 00:35:41), but I think you missed it before it was carted off a few seconds later (see timestamp 00:35:55) to the Fermentation Barrel. I may be wrong, but I think that you can only get the bramble flower from the wild bramble bush when they are marked for cutting.

Im playing the most recent Whitepaws and yes, this is the case. The *planted* brambles (unlocked by the tree nursery) can be harversted for flowers with the gatherer flag (I believe) It also DOES cut the bramble down, but I find that if I leave a few as "uncut" in an area then the aggressive regrowth means that you still get a pretty constant supply still.

(Noticed at 21:02, but not really fixed.) 23:58 "I have four of these, and I'm constantly out of water" - most of the time you got only two water pumps active (as the others were down-prioritized), and during parts of the drought you had zero. I guess some of your pumpers also are not quite as efficient as they could be. The cooking tent is using 10 water every 14 hours (assuming it's working), which is roughly what 10 beavers drink during that time? 55:31 The new lumberjack building is done, and immediately your two pumps stop working again. Which means your stored water is going down in the last last days before the drought. → 15:40 For the pit-and-ladder lodges, it says in red "Warning: Buildings can't be built from under their own volume" (and a note "using squewer platforms might be necessary"). You can still make it work - for one more level you can use the log stairs to get up to build this level level (or two if you do the "log stairs on top of primitive platform thing" again), but then you'll need some science to research side platforms (or some warehouses) so they can build from the side. (I don't think that changed since the earlier version you played.) → For getting bramble flowers from the wild brambles, you need to tell your lumberjacks to actually cut them down (i.e. mark it as a tree cutting area). The gatherers later can get bramble flowers from domesticated brambles, which will be planted by the tree nursery. 34:56 Finally marking some brambles for cutting. 35:38 first bramble cut down, and flower harvested. 34:42 unmarked for cutting again. (The bramble was then brought to the fermentation barrel. Discovered at 56:28, but the conclusion was not drawn.) → 49:09 "What upgrade can this take? It says it replaces a forester" - there are a bunch of tower buildings which can be built on top of a forester (plus one of these triangular buildings, like tappers shack and the new Lumberjack's Barn you've built elsewhere), and these can also be built on top of this irrigation lodge instead of the forester (you see they have a somewhat similar shape). The drying tower (for harvesters) is one of them, I think there are also a tourist tower and a hauling tower. → 1:00:28 "This scavenger flag is going to have to move" ... and as you refused to build a storage for scrap metal, these 14 pieces of scrap won't be collected anytime soon.

Pretty sure the bever is not collecting the bramble flowers is because it has no storage at the gatherer flag. Might want to move the chestnuts somewhere.

Hi. I'm writing it on beggining of episode so if U do that during... Then sorry. And if U don't... You are lacking some storage. For prepared food, for mushrooms, and soo-on. That's why You have bottlenecks in food industry. Flowers are harvested by cutting bushes if I remember correctly. ;)

Okay, so I did the math on the mushroom grower non-sawdust to sawdust method and the efficiency needed out of the log gnawing station. I'm not quite sure why the hemming and hawing at the math, but considering your a self proclaimed band/music nerd, I know you know how to count. Seriously, if you can rattle off how many 32nd notes to fill a single 4/4 bar with one quarter-note and one half-rest, figuring out mushroom grower efficiency should be a cakewalk. Anyway, Part 1 is in reference to the last video and Part 2 is reflective of this one. Part 1: Log gnawing station with 2 workers making planks: (This is your break-even point) 1 log + 10hrs = 1 plank + 5 sawdust Mushroom grower: Non-sawdust: 3 logs + 20 water + 80hrs = 40 mushrooms Sawdust: 1 sawdust + 0.1 water + 1hr = 1 mushroom Based on these efficiency numbers, let's normalize the log gnawing station to the non-sawdust method: Log gnawing station: 8 logs + 80hrs = 8 planks + 40 sawdust Non-sawdust: 3 logs + 20 water + 80hrs = 40 mushrooms Sawdust: 40 sawdust + 4 water + 40 hrs = 40 mushrooms Based on a two-worker log gnawing station's efficiency The sawdust method uses 0 logs (but assumes that you are making something that byproducts sawdust...and, let's face it, you're always byproducting sawdust), 80% less water, and produces the same number of mushrooms as the non-sawdust method. It is, by far, way more efficient...as long as you're making at least 1 sawdust every 2hrs. Part 2: You added another mushroom grower and switched to screwpress axels... Okay, you now need to be producing 1 sawdust every hour and considering that your five-worker log gnawing station's efficiency is 70hrs = 8 sawdust or 0.11 sawdust every hour. So, I would suggest you build one more focused on making sawdust. It should only require one or two beavers to process enough sawdust and you get the added benefit of producing a butt-ton of mushrooms for food... and expanding beaver minds when you "infuse" them with badwater.

Cut down the brambles but save a few to let them spread again, very simple. Flowered brambles will drop flowers instead of logs, the time is how long to wait between a growing bramble and when its ready to cut to produce flowers.

You really need to build more farmhouses. It doesn't matter if you plant more cabbage considering the two farmers that you have can't keep up with the current amount.

Are the brambles marked for cutting? Wild brambles you cut them for the flower, domesticated ones you harvest the flowers

38:50 : oh, crap, that's not what i intended to have happen once you break the blockages 😨 for the brambles, as others have said, they need to be designated for cutting and then cut as trees, they are not longer "cut for wood / harvest for flowers", that was the limiting factor that prevented me from having the game replace all birch with brambles. now the domesticated brambles still work like the old ones, which is super confusing (you're not alone in that, many people couldn't figure it out). I think i'm going to change the domesticated bramble too because that's just too misleading to have the havester tell you it can prioritize brambles when that won't be even remotely possible before cycle 40 or so. regarding farms / water pumps, they both produce far more than their three inhabitants consume, so you can build plenty of farms as long as you also build plenty of water pumps, and vice versa, i never saw that cause problem (but keep your farms and water pump prioritized, other wise it will be an ungodly mess). also don't forget that it's fine to pause your water pump houses during drougths, it's better than de-prioritizing for reasons you demonstrated in this video 😅 and regarding the forester upgrades, before you had just farm upgrades on top of two farms and the ones for the water pumps, but somewhat recently i added an upgrade that was meant to sit on one forester and one tapper shack. but then i figured that since both the tapper shack and the farmhouse where basically the same shape, it would make sense that you should be able to swap them and still be able to put an upgrade on top. so i added a few variants of other things (like the lumberjack barn) that are triangle shape, and now you can for example put an assistant farmer upgrade on one harvester cottage (has a green roof) + one tapper shack, and conversely you can put a drying tower (upgrade) on top of a forester + farmhouse. and lastly since i was overhauling this system i changed the irrigation lodge to be roughly the same shape as a forester, so for any upgrade that says it needs to be on a forester + one triangle roof building you can instead have an irrigation tower. if it's not really clear make a new game and enter devmode to insta-build stuff and see how it works 😊

I think you got that one wild bramble flower when you were zoomed in on that one beaver that chopped the bramble down ... i.e. maybe you have to chop down/clear the wild brambles to obtain the flowers? 🤔 do you have a plan in mind for keeping the beavers out of the bad water when it comes? maybe have a small tank already built and assigned for bad water to pump/save some when it eventually comes

29:12 🤔❓🤔 maybe the pit n ladder building stack has to be treated like "ladder" beaver must stand beside it to build 1 unit above prior [ 2nd floor could be built standing on ground] .... So to build 3rd floor beaver must stand at 2nd floor .. build a side platform for beaver to stand on while building the higher level ( or build stairs so beaver can stand higher ) ... If you add path from center ladder exit on top, will beaver then build higher 🤔🤔❓❓

@@JCTheBeard I'm playing Whitepaws ATM and you can get pretty high from building 2 "tower blocks" side by side, so they can stand on top of one to build the other. Obivousy it's twice the resources (and housing space, so population growth and all the associated issues) to get teh same height, but you don't need to do any science to get there

The intent behind that is to force players to not overbuild. It's *supposed* to be punishing as a direct response to how easy the base game is. I know a lot of people aren't a fan of the mechanic but it does make sense in the context of the intent behind the mod

And I would maybe even increase the difficulty, because the way it is now, you can alternate between two buildings that provide the same population space, because you can close one and open the other and the available space remains the same.
