I don’t know what it is about her voice. Just about any song she sings makes me cry a good cry. Not many things in life does this to me . My heart is somehow in line with the tone of her voice. The sound of her voice is so soothing and hypnotic that my mind goes to places in my past. Some memories are sorrowful and painful and just by listening to her angelic voice some how makes everything better and replaces them with joy and happiness. She is currently 13 (9 in this performance) - She began singing at the age of one and a half - At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through KZbin videos and started studying all the greats from Jazz history. - Angelina always sings barefoot..... When Angelina was 6, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. The girl complimented her on her pretty shoes, so Angelina took them off and gave them to the girl. She made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help. (that's a shortened version. the full story is more touching than the way I have told it here). When Angelina was 9 years old she wrote a book about the story that can be purchased on her website. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the show at just 8 years old. - In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes" - The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney. - Angelina has covered more than 100 songs over the last 6 years. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else) - Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, and many more. Well written Rusty, added a lot that I was not sure of. Like you I feel Angelina is destined to become one of the greatest singers, especially jazz, of all time, along side Fitzgerald, Horne, Vaughan and Holiday and her unique interpretation of any song she sings is thrilling. A further reason she stands out from the rest is that she puts that individual Angelina interpretation to many of the great classics of years gone by. The first thing I saw of this super talent was her version of the Ella Fitzgerald song "Ev'ry time we say goodbye" having actually seen the great Ella sing this at Ronnie Scott's Jazz club in Soho, nearly 60 years ago,but it brought tears of joy and memory to me. You need to hear her sing 'I'm A Fool To Want You' that she does a cappella at age 7. It was the first audition for her to compete in Norway's Got Talent. After this audition she then came back and sang 'Gloomy Sunday' for the first appearance in front of a crowd. Angelina is now 13 and has sung all around the world. She was part of the 80th birthday tribute concert for Quincy Jones. I have viewed almost all her performances and I have never even seen a hint of nervousness or apprehension ever. This was NOT a Nina Simone song, it was from "Screaming" Jay Hawkins. Angelina was not yet 10 years old when recording this, her birthday was January 10th 2006. Great reaction. I'm sure that it's the same thought that 90% of all reactors have after watching this performance for the first time: "I'm going to go subscribe to her right now!". How could you not? Also went and checked out a few of your own songs in comparison to Angelina (completely different styles, so I can't judge), and I have to say I'm quite impressed. The production on 'Human' was excellent, as was the performance, but by far my favorite of them all was 'Lost'. I got a very big Pink vibe from that one, and believe me, that's possibly the best compliment I could give to any female singer. So a big thumbs up from me. Angelina is a jazzy girl from Norway, that was 9 in this video. By now she is 13. She is not just a singer, she is the music. Nobody can learn to sing like that If this was posssible to learn, there would be a millon Angelinas around in the world. But there aren't. Angelina is unique. She was simply born as a genius talent. But even so, there wouldn't be much fame without the good people around her. She play instruments, arrange the music and write her own songs ( ex. Shield ). With her versatile voice she can sing anything and you get shocked every time... Try - Song for A - with music written specially for her by a Russian composer . Try - Autimn leaves - . or - Wicked game - or - Born to die - or..... There are a lot of videos to choose in between. And she is gooood... whatever you choose....

I am impressed that you picked up on many of Angelina's traits listening to just one of her songs. Since every song she sings is so personalized, there isn't just one "Angelina way." She can belt out a song as well as anyone alive, sing softly in a lullaby-mesmerizing way, handle notes so low in pitch you can't believe it, or outdo Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing"'s high range when she wants. She is not very well known yet since she and her parents long ago agreed that it was just a hobby while she is at school, so is not yet a commercial enterprise. She has turned down offers from the largest production companies in the world. She is about to release her third album, one with all original songs, and, I am told, will appear on America's Got Talent - The Champions in January. Then everyone will know and love her.

I think that with turning 14, and finding that she does not have enough money to do the flashier band recordings/videos she wants to do, she will be using AGT Champions to win, or at least raise her public profile. She definitely does not want to sign with any major producer (she's had lots of offers) for fear of losing her independence to sing whatever she wants, commercially viable or not. I am hoping that the new album, with all songs she has written, will be a hit.

Greetings from Norway. I just subscribed to your channel . Welcome to the world of Angelina Jordan Astar. This was a great reaction video. I'm always happy when I see new people discover her for the first time. But many stop to react to her after this video, which I hope you don't do. She was about 9 years old in this video. I first discovered Angelina Jordan Astar when she first participated in Norway's got talent 2014, when she was 7 and 8 years old. I wouldn't believed it if you had asked me 10 years ago. I have never been interested in the jazz music genre , but Angelina's interpretations of old jazz music classics has "opened my eyes" for that kind of music for sure, and in a way "touched me". In the past year she has posted some great covers of modern music as well. As many has written she has released some original songs. One of them is her song Shield, which has already been covered in a song competition. Didn't wanna stop... Needed to just continue watching... Yep. That's it. I have exactly the same reaction to Angelina. It's been two years, now, and I still don't want to stop, and still need to just continue. I'm starting to realize that this is a permanent state. Believe it or not, she just keeps getting better, and my addiction to that amazing voice keeps getting worse. Now that you've got your first taste, you can't get away. That's the first time I've described Angelina's voice as an addictive substance. The analogy struck me as incredibly accurate, the moment I thought of it. It still does. I know you just got caught and I'm not only speaking to Nya but to every new viewer who's never had the chance before to watch Angelina... this is the start of a new journey for all of you guys I KNOW because the same happened to me and I've also witnessed how a KZbinr reacts the first time to Angelina and 2 weeks later there's another reaction video by the same KZbinr until they realized they've been reacting to her videos non-stop, noy lying, just passing info. BTW, your version of I Put A Spell On You was very nice as well, though closer to Nina Simone's version while Angelina's version is closer to the original from 1956 by Screemin' Jay Hawkin (who's face is on the candle she holds in the beginning of the video). I tried to find other songs both you and Angelina have a cover of, but couldn't find any, though you both have songs named Bang, Bang. Angelina's cover (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnTEdayfpthqjck) from the semi finale of Norway Got Talent (when she was 8 years old) is a cover of Nancy Sinatras version from 1966, the same year the original by Cher (written by her husband at the time, Sonny Bono) was released. Your cover of Bang, Bang is a completely different song. Anyway, I see recommandations of her covers of A million years ago (kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3mvpY2HaNh8rac) and Valerie (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaLQe3-hnNBlf80) and both are good suggestions! There are lots of more songs to watch if you continue to react to her, including three originals (and probably more soon as she is working on a new album).
