At about 4:10 minutes you mention 'grey seal out on the disc side'; if you were to remove the grey seal would it be the ball bearing side or the inner race side of the bearing? Also, phenomenal service video and a big part of the reason I ended up with Hydra hubs! Cheers

What other options of lube can be used?? Pandemic made international shippings unavailable in my country and there is a industrial bearing supplier that sells Timken , SKF,Loctite greases and there is this Loctite Lb 8034 used for o-ring installations Pao based oil with calcium sulphonate it has like the same texture of that Dumonde grease, as for the oil I think maybe Shimano mineral oil can work?

That is an excellent question. I'd like to know the same thing. What's the recommendation for end-cap grease that's water repellant and kind to the end-cap material? Marine grease would work but there are multiple marine grease choices.

It's more based on feel than anything. If the bearings start to feel grindy it's probably time for a change. It also doesn't hurt to clean out the freehub body and re-apply grease every ~6 months just to ensure everything is running smoothly.

I notice occasionally my freewheel will arbitrarily become quieter and then eventually louder again. Is this a cause for concern or is the grease just periodically migrating around inside the housing?

Seriously! All this guys on youtube wasting so much grease They apply so much grease then wipe 90% of the grease they apply. I have a tub of grease i bought in Asia in 2001 it was use on so many things but still has so many left because i have a tiny paint brush inside. Also on bike works i use a tootpick to apply grease on tiny areas. 90% of the lube the industry use goes to the garbage as excess.

Hi guys my cassette/freehub won't pull off the wheel. In the video it looks easy, but my freehub is definitely not coming loose just by pulling on the cassette firmly (or even extra firmly). Hydra with Microspline, only 2 months old. Any ideas?
@greenswater4 жыл бұрын
Having same problem, did you ever figure this out?
@tomnguyen78803 жыл бұрын
I'm late to the party, but just stumbled on this. It's the end cap that's stuck firmly on the axle holding everything on. Use some pliers to carefully pull and unseat the end cap first, you won't be able to completely remove it cause the cassette will be in the way. You should be able to pull the whole cassette/freehub assembly like in the video. Hope this helps.
