In this special episode of Industry Trends, Herb Dew, the founder and CEO of Human Technologies, Inc., talks about how companies are dealing with employees resigning in record numbers. Last year in South Carolina, on average 70,000 employees (or about 3% of the state's workforce) quit their job every month. It's more important than ever for companies to retain talent, because finding workers is proving to be quite the task.

Maybe this isn’t an issue in SC but I was surprised to not hear you talk about work life balance as a reason behind the Great Resignation. Since at least 2008, companies have been dealing with attrition (including layoffs) by adding to the workload of their remaining employees. High performers were rewarded with the biggest increases in their workload, and little else. Hours got longer and pressures became more intense each year. If anything, the volume of work expected increased during the pandemic because many people no longer had a commute and work could take over every waking hour. This was destroying employee’s mental and physical health at the same time that hundreds of thousands of people were dying from Covid. This created an existential crisis for nearly everyone, and it became a choice between working or dying. That is also why you see so many over 55 leaving their organizations. They are often the loyal high performers who have been squeezed the most brutally by their employers over the years. They are leaving now because the cost to their health has become too great. Advice to companies who want to retain their good employees would then be to take a very hard look at work life balance. That’s not going to be advice they want to hear. They want to hear about cheap solutions like socks, not expensive solutions like rational working hours and workloads. Which is why their employees will continue to quit or retire.

It’s time to move their companies out of the United States so we can become more off grid country instead off being controlled by so many laws and taxes the only laws we need is Don’t Murder,Don’t Rape,Don’t Steal,Don’t Tax and Don’t Damage Someone’s Belongings. Need Large Community’s with Gardening Water Tiny Homes and a place to cook.

I didn't quit my job last year at Kroger. They gave me no hours then got rid of me 2 months later with no notice. Im guessing because I asked for another day off as a part timer and I did not work past my shift as a night time stocker.
