The solution to this setback is to play Ranji trophy whenever there is a series coming up in India. It is no shame to play Ranji trophy as Sachin Tendulkar Sir even at the age of 40 played for Mumbai to have some match practice before the series. The BCCI and team management should make stringent rules for every centrally contracted players to play Ranji trophy before any series is been played in India. From 2021, the collapse has been happening in every test series. But the lower order saved us many times and we kept ignoring the problem that our top order and middle order is not been able to play spin properly.

To be fair, as a cricketing minnow, with limited depth, we've been blessed with migration. Ravinda, born here, Sodhi arrived aged 4, Glen Phillips, aged 5, BJ Watling aged 10, Raval 16, Jeetan Patel, born here, others like Conway, Dutchie, Waggy, moved as adults to further their careers, a small world. Even technically, O'Rourke was born in ENG to a Kiwi family who moved back home when he was 5. There's a few Saffas dotted around the place at province level . . . . .

Pant got some shot balls and he's a lefty so a left arm spinner is easier to handle and hit with spin towards legside. There is no mystery balls he got like Ashwin so not that difficult to play him. They did nothing it is our captain and Kohli who want to play T-20 in test. You can’t blame younger players. These two had to show to the younger players how to play. Rohit Sharma we love his style of batting but on test you have to adjust. Hit big runs but also defend your wicket and go for atleast 70. We don’t want your quick 10 or 20 in test I want at least 70 even if comes from 200 balls. It is like Rohit have forgotten how to play for long he just want to score quick 50 and be done with it and people named it selfless batting. That is not true he doesn’t want to spend time to wicket and play sensible batting which can ensure our win. It is his short coming to not be able to play for long so he turn it into his style and self less batting. Spend sometime score around 100 then go. That is it. But they can’t even do that. If you say something you will be labeled as anti team India or not saying something to that player or this player. I think Rohit want to continue T-20 style in every format so he can play better in IPL and can still be relevant.

Love the show. Do you think one of the factors here (among others discussed) is that India took the turning tracks too far? Maybe, these 3 day pitches are neutering India’s batting so much that the opposition batters come into play. At some point, more degrees of turn and/or inconsistent bounce will stop favouring Indian spinners further and bring the opposition spin bowlers into the game. With these conditions, an out of form batting line up means disaster.

Here are the main reasons for India's loss: 1. They are suffering from "cricket exhaustion" because they are playing too much cricket. They just finished a series against Bangla and within days had to turn around and play another team. 2. The older players have lost their enthusiasm for the longer formats. The solution is simple: 1. Older players should be replaced by talented hungrier younger players esp. for Tests. 2. Only batsmen with a record of patience capable of batting long against both spin and pace should be selected for tests. 3. No player should be playing in all 3 formats, at most two formats for outstanding young players like Jaiswal, Gill, Pant, Rahul, Bumrah, Sundar etc.

1. Ashwin and Jadeja are definitely not the best of the spinners in the world, as they are sometimes called, not anymore definitely. In all previous series, they had better exploited conditions and more than that the visiting batters were mostly clueless and fearful of spin, unlike new zealand this time. New zealand showed a solid defence technique and a brilliant counter-attack game against spin. (I think we have their replacements available in form of Sundar and Axar, with kuldeep completing the trio) 2. Most the current indian batters don't have a solid defence technique, and some had but have forgotten that (Rohit, Virat). But he seemed clueless at batting this series. He too didn't have a solid defence, and didn't inspire confidence when was at crease. And, definitely not as good as all rounder, anymore, he has been considered.

Put any two of the top 8 India batters together and tell them to score 26 runs against New Zealand's attack and you would expect it to be a breeze. India has some kind of mental attitude issue, not a batting issue.

In srilanka both the matches Srilanka bat first and won. In India both in Pune n Mumbai NZ bat first and India batting 4th innings. In Bengaluru though India bat first it was advantage for NZ. So it’s more of who have advantage won the matches. Pitches should be prepared to nullify this type of advantage. India dig their own grave, paid for it in the end.

Two aspects: An excess of T20 has ruined the ability to execute proper test batsmanship. Secondly you cannot prepare spinning wickets if your own batsmen cannot play it.

As an observer,surely India Captainsy is the issue you not mention.Whilst Rohit has been a great batsmen,clearly a number of players dont play for him like Kohli,Siraj,Rahul.And Rohit is not dynamic,poor field positions,choosing his favorite bowlers like Ashwin when Axal patel and Kuldeep in better form.The future is Gill,Jaiswal,Pant the future with Kohli capt.Drop Rohit.
