At least Indycar is competitive at the front. The F1 season was over before it even started. An exceptional driver in a dominant car, with a mediocre teammate, makes F1 very boring. At least Hamilton's years with Merc had some competition for most of it. This is just depressing.

@@LSB001 - F1 throughout its entire history has had dominant teams: Mercedes with Fangio. Ferrari with Ascari. Cooper with Brabham. Lotus with Clark. Tyrell with Stewart and Cevert. Lotus again with Peterson, Fittipaldi, and Andretti. McLaren with Prost and Rosberg. Williams with Piquet and Mansell. McLaren with Senna and Prost. Williams again with Mansell and Prost. Benetton with Schumacher. Ferrari with Schumacher. Red Bull with Vettel. Mercedes with Hamilton. and now, Red Bull with Verstappen. It's only been the current generation of F1 fans who have been crying about it. Many of these recent fans really don't understand the sport at all. The Constructors Championship is actually regarded as the more important championship than the Drivers Championship, but the latter gets the spotlight on "TV" because that's what most in the public care about. As long as you have a race series where teams design and build their own cars, even tailored to a specific driver, you're going to have dominant teams. That's just how it is. If you want closer racing in a cookie-cutter spec series, watch Indycar.

It is absolutely logical that they are looking for a new talented driver to beat Verstappen. Palou is already a superstar in Indycars and he has a champions mentality and attitude. McLaren needs to hurry up and ink him to a contract now before he gets away. With Norris and Piastri there's no room now but Palou is too good of a talent to let walk. Sign him and loan him out to Williams, Alfa Romeo, or Haas, and then if Lando does leave call him up.

No doubt oval racing takes skill and nerve, but the circuits are really showcasing the better actual drivers in terms of racecraft, set up ability etc. Also that Indy has similar issues to F1 when it comes to circuits in a massive field spread, not a great deal of over taking etc. Wonder if DRS will show up the more circuits Indy go to.

Lo que caracteriza a la IndyCar es su impredictibilidad en sus carreras, nadie sabe quien va a ganar, y al menos los equipos denominados chicos o de media tabla tienen cierta oportunidad de tener un gran resultado, mientras que en la F1 ya se sabe de ante mano quien va a ganar, incluso más no me sorprendería qué Verstappen gane el campeonato en Japón o en alguna de las carreras de norte america.

@moshegoldberg9685 Indycar averages 3.4 cautions each race. On road courses, it's 3.0. That's not very much, and a big reason why lap 1 collisions are so common is because of rolling starts leading to a much closer pack of cars than a standing start. Also, to act like guys like Scott Dixon, Will Power, Scott McLaughlin, and Alex Palou are just "F1 Washouts" shows how fucking stupid you are. F1 and Indycar have similarities, but it's still a very different skillset to be fast in Indy vs. being fast in F1, just ask Fernando Alonso about 2019.

​@moshegoldberg9685 Give me a break dude, I'm a F1 fan first and foremost, but you can clearly see indycars are way rougher to drive. They are raw racing machines, with no powersteering, way less aero and much bumpier tracks. Also what allows F1 to have way less accidents is that the grid is not even competing with each other. For instance, nobody except the top 4 teams defended against Perez yesterday...You can't have an accident when the cars simply let the fast cars go through. Often even backmarkers will let a mid table team go through because "it's not their fight". That doesn't happen in Indy obviously, since the cars are specs and everyone is against everyone. So, given how it's a much rawer spec race, it's obvious they will have way more accidents. I would not trade IndyCar raw gritty fair racing for a "safer" field like F1 if that means the cars are super stable, have tons of aero and nobody even tries to fight the top team except maybe some podium finishers. They are very different style of races, and it's very difficult to adapt to each other.
