Kipchoge's English is not great but he speaks from the heart, you can still understand what this event means to him. The man has single handily put marathon running on the map, he is the equivalent of what Michael Jordan is to basketball, what Tiger Woods is to golf and what Lionel Messi is to football. He is the greatest of all time, and we will probably never see such a runner in our lifetime again. The humility of the man is outstanding, there is no I but we. Nothing is possible without the team and he knows that. Not only is he the greatest marathon runner of all time, he is one of the greatest role models in sport of all time. He will inspire many kids to take up running and this will drastically improve health around the world. Bravo Kipchoge. Bravo.

Eliud simply says the experience of the first attempt helped him today and does not mention the crowd. While watching I had the feeling that this man does not even notice the crowd, he is simply running, putting out his best effort and enjoying being tucked behind his pacemakers. I think he appreciated the fact the crowd was there before and afterwards but during it was as if he was in a tunnel.
