I have just ordered the G900 Pro. Going hardwired. The rear camera with the pro is not compatible with the previous models. So, that suggests some difference. It appears that the strapped version can have slightly more left offset which helps reduce the ADAS camera getting in the way of the front view. However, the 67 designs mount looks cleaner. Its out of stock for RHD at the moment so I will see how I get on with the strapped version for now. Thank you for your video. Oh BTW, I got the blacksheep Display Sun Anti-Glare Protection Cover and it is well worth it. It removes the glare 90% of the time. Low sun coming in from the side can still create some glare, but it does the job when the sun is higher in the sky. Easy install too. under 1 minute with no screwing.

Thanks for your comments. I'll look up the blacksheep cover as that's an occasional pain point for me. The 67 designs folks are pretty attentive and I wouldn't be surprised to see the RHD plate back in stock within a couple of weeks. They're selling a lot of these as it's the only good solution for the time being.

Hey, Josh. I like the 67 Designs products. I use one of their L-Track Base mounts to attach a GoPro to the side of my Grenadier when I’m recording off-road videos. 🙂

Hah! I've been driving my new Grenadier and thinking the rear vision is adequate but wishing I had an unobstructed rearward view. So your video is quite timely as I had been thinking about installing a wireless rearview camera, but I like your method better.
@MyAutomobileObsession3 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! I wasn't aware of a wireless option, but figure that would still require some power to the camera in the back. Glad to hear that this video gave you a few ideas.

Hi, loved the video. My local installer said it would cost $1020 to have the wolf box installed as you have done. That seems really expensive. Would you mind sharing what your install cost was?
@MyAutomobileObsessionАй бұрын
Thanks for the question. I'm happy to share this privately, but as we have 50% of viewers outside of the U.S., it's not helpful in this space. Please send me an e-mail and I'll respond promptly. You can find my e-mail address from youtube on a desktop browser (doesn't seem to work on a mobile device), clicking on my channel, then the more... link and my contact e-mail should be shown for you. If you're in the U.S., I would agree that you are correct about the installation seeming a little high, but please confirm in your message to me that the installer is including ALL the parts needed as well as the special 67designs bracket as that is the only way your installer could possibly justify the price. In the meanwhile, I'll do the math on my install as I bought all the parts and just paid for the install. That way I'll have an answer ready for you.

My wife doesn’t like the digital rear view mirrors in our Defender. Makes her dizzy. With the Wolfbox, can you turn off the camera and just use it as a standard mirror (for the odd time my wife drives the Grenny)?
@MyAutomobileObsessionАй бұрын
Yes, the mirror can power off leaving it to act as a simple mirror. Just don't add the anti-glare cover as that prevents it from acting as a mirror and you'd be good to go! I do get the "dizzy" comment - it takes a little focus practice on the eyes. Thanks for the question.

Hi Josh, have you considered installing a power step?
@MyAutomobileObsession3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question. Actually, I had the side stepper installed by the dealer as I needed an immediate solution and they are actually great. They don't protrude too far out, and I find getting in and out very easy in front, and about an 8 out of 10 score in the rear and it has more to do with the door being narrow along the bottom - not sure that a power step would improve that.

I'm an owner and interested in the Wolfbox.... question....does the larger size of the mirror and mount block any of your overhead lights or switches...ie, driver and passenger overhead reading lights?
@MyAutomobileObsession3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question. It partially obstructs that "Passenger Airbag" display that is in front of the big built-in assembly (containing the front facing Grenadier camera) that the original mirror attaches to, but does NOT interfere with any of the switches up top - at least it doesn't if you do the OEM-like install with the original factory mirror removed and use the special bracket for the Wolfbox. If you strapped the Wolfbox on top of the Factory mirror, it would push the setup closer to those switches and then you might have a little tight space to reach those buttons, but as I installed it - it all works fine.

Is it easy to route the cables from the mirror to the back?
@MyAutomobileObsession3 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question. I know it's not difficult for a professional (I hired one to install mine), but the comments I got were that the most difficulty came near the back of the vehicle where the wiring has to be tapped into that triggers the reverse functionality. The other difficult spot was running wiring into the door through the tubing with the other existing wiring. I know owners have done this wiring on their own, but I wanted it right, so got somebody smarter than me to do it!

@@MyAutomobileObsession Thx for answering. Lucky for me I have a Quartermaster 😁. I'm looking for a camera mirror bc I'm putting a Hardtop canopy over the bed and I'm losing my rearview mirror line of sight. But so to speak it shouldn't be an issue running the cables to the mirror?
@MyAutomobileObsession3 ай бұрын
@@nattydepaepe5906 I would think that it would be easier to route cables in a Quartermaster since you don't have a door to contend with. I would still suggest a pro mainly because they're good at removing panels and getting them all back in place like nothing happened. Additionally, they can review the canopy and may determine that the camera be placed down on the bumper vs. up high. This is also something you can do a little test on by getting the wolfbox and just laying the wire exposed and temporarily mounting the camera and mirror and drive around a little - it will help you determine what will work best for you. Also, big congratulations on the Quartermaster! That's exciting!

I do not understand why there are no power seats in a 80-90K vehicle, when virtually every other vehicle sold in the USA comes with power seats, both those intended for on-road and off-road travel. This is something that can and should be corrected very easily. I understand Ineos desire to keep things relatively simply, as more electrical and computer technology is often associated with more things that can go wrong in a vehicle, however, power seat generally give little trouble in vehicles. I am an audiophile and found the stereo system in the Granadier seriously lacking. Not having built in bluetooth integration for hands-free cellphone use in a vehicle in today's market is also inexcusable. What was Ineos thinking, people taking their vehicle off-road wouldn't be making and receiving calls on their iPhones. I mean why should you have to create an aftermarket fix so you can use your cellphone while driving, when most other vehicles offered in the USA, at least as an option, allow hands-free cellphone use. During my test drive, I found the lack of sound deadening materials in the Granadier was not noticeable in the cabin unit I increased speeds to around 55 - 65 mph, at those levels, the in-cabin noise levels became rather intrusive and bothersome. It is interesting that consumers are coming up with aftermarket solutions to counter some of the shortcomings of the Grenadier, which is fine, but in reality the manufacture should be correcting these faults and flaws in the vehicle, certainly in the next model year. The crazy bad turning radius of the Granadier needs a fix. I could live with the steering not returning to center, but that turning radius is very problematic when having to make tight turns and maneuver in tight areas. A 2-3 maneuver k-turn on most vehicles becomes a 5-6 k-turn on a Granadier, which is worrisome when traffic is barreling down on you or traffic refuses to wait, and given the horrible rear visibility, very small infotainment screen to view the back up camera images, and lack of pedestrian cross traffic alert and avoidance system, backing up in tight spaces with poles, parking meters, other vehicles, and pedestrians around you becomes a disconcerting and very challenging endeavor.

Thanks for your comments. I do agree that some of the choices are curioius. The Trialmaster is touted as the off-road mud and boots version with drain plugs in the floor and an interior that you can hose out - which would explain why power seats were not a consideration. But the Fieldmaster with leather seats is where the power seats are a logical inclusion. You make many good points that some of us learned AFTER we got our Grenadier's but you may also find that most buyers decided that the pros outweighed the cons as this vehicle is not perfect, but there is also nothing quite like it. I dare say that INEOS is paying attention and will evolve the Grenadier to whatever keeps them selling. PS - I don't like the turning radius either!
@jamesmichael54752 ай бұрын
@@MyAutomobileObsession Yes, the Granadier has much appeal, particularly to the male populace, that is why I have not ruled out purchasing one, but in reality, it was designed and constructed to be more of a single purpose vehicle than just about anything on the road in its class, and that purpose was not driving in urban and suburban environments and roads. The solid front and rear axles and steering make the driving dynamics excellent off-roading, but somewhat challenged on-road. In test driving the Granadier I did not find the ride particular bad, but the noise levels at highway speeds was a bit much, and the turning radius, was disconcerting for me, because I have to navigate tight spaces and narrow roads. There is much to like about and appreciate the Granadier for, but there are also needed fixes before it can be considered a viable suburban commuter vehicle.

@@MyAutomobileObsession I have been driving Lexus GX and LX vehicles since 2003, and found them to be dam reliable and comfortable. However, with each revision of the GX model, the interior has gotten less and less luxurious, less real wood, and more cheap plastic. The 2nd row seating of the GX 460 and now GX 550 are perhaps the worst ergonomically designed seating in the automotive world, nevermind the near useless 3rd row. I am very disappointed with the interior of the new GX550, finding it to be a huge Miss. The Mark Levinson Sound System which I have had in all my Lexus is superb. I am considering the Land Rover Defender 110 X, the Lexus LX, and Granadier. I like the Mercedes AMG-G-63, but not the price.

Part of the philosophy of the Grenadier was the ability to hose out the floor, hence the drain plugs built in; power seat electronics would negate this ability.
