Hey Luke! Another great video. Pro Tip: To put on a sleeping bag with a hammock, do it before you get in (standing up next to the hammock), then there's no struggle and you're completely covered. Keep up the great videos! Love what you're doing!

I've been highly considering this product. I purchased the snugpak under blanket and was seriously impressed. On my last road trip up north one of the many nights it was 19 degrees Fahrenheit and with the under blanket, mss sleeping bag, a puffer jacket and thermals I stayed relatively warm to my surprise. I also sleep pretty warm. Experiencing how good the under blanket was I'll definitely be ordering the over quilt myself to really test it. Thanks for the review man, happy camping!

so glad you did a review on this Luke. I need an quilt for my hammock, but i don't wanna spend $300+ ... I will be getting one of these for next spring. Can't resist at that price. Great video brother

Hey Luke, I love my snugpak over quilt, have used it in 34-38 degree weather and stayed pretty warm. The foot box is a great feature, and it is so simple to get in and out of a hammock.

Good review. I'm a Cold War Vet and we used ALICE gear. The woobie was designed to go only as into the 50-60 s. I suspect based on my experience it was designed with the wings for drape when you turn on your side while using an under quilt. Going to 30 it does out class the woobie. My 1.9 lb Walmart ultra light 40 degree bag at $40 is lighter and smaller. I'm 210' 5' 9". This product may shine for larger or taller guys. If anyone can had sew buy one to rig as an under quilt and one for a top quilt if money is not tight. About money and outdoors we can all cut corners for normal conditions but lack of sleep will make the outing terrible. Your right about superior materials for the price. I like your vids because you spend woods time. You walk the talk. Others vids on first impressions is just that.

I think id like this, an underquilt, and one of those swiss blankets, all in all it could probably get you down to the mod 20's i would think

You are spot on my friend about 35 degrees used one for a few years now. Beware the cocoon though. You really have to be careful how you hang it.

Yep I have the top and under quilt and like he says I sleep hot as well. With those 2 items and I bring an extra whoopie blanket i've gone down to 30 and had no issues with staying warm but I run hot as well.

Thanks for sharing. It looks for a great hammock winter setup. So i would sleep on it and i had a good insulation on the side. Take care Dirk

Put a SOL Mylar bivy in your sleeping bag as well. Cheap alternative wal mart Mylar tube tent cut to size, tape with packaging tape. It with the clothes you bring it will extend the temp rating 15 degrees above 40. At 30 about 10 degrees more. At 20 only 5. You definitely need those extra layers with hoods. I used a very small 1.9 lb sleep bag for the testing last winter in a hammock with a closed cell foam pad. I finally made 2 under guilts one out of an old down comforter and the other out of a child's sleeping bag both from a thrift store. Thanks for sharing on this product.

You might also look at Snugpak's 'bottom' quilt, too. That depends on which hammock you've got, and what else you have on.

Nice review brah, love snugpak products! And it IS the best on the market for the $. No need to spend $200 for a quilt, i use this along w the snugpak underblanket and an HD mylar tarp draped over my ridgeline. Heard the cocoon does NOT come w rigging lines. Curious to see that review, looks like a cool product but been reading mixed reviews.

Every outdoor blanket should have a footbox. Not having that, I try to use 2 blankets if possible so that one is wrapped around the footsies and I can pull the other one up around my head without disturbing the foot coverage.

I've lived all over North Carolina from the beach to the mountains and the one thing I hated were the rattle snakes. Your hammock is hardly high enough to keep from having one snuggle up with you in your snugpak.
@scooter0410318 жыл бұрын
The rattle snakes are the least of my worries we don't have near the density of them as other states. The only time i've ever seen any is when I've been out purposefully looking for them.
@Surefiresecurity7 жыл бұрын
Snugpak is a UK company and thats their primary market. We don't really have a problem with snakes here. We only have three types and only one is venomous and not to prevalent. But I take your point re rattlers. Glad we don't have 'em here.

you can do the same thing with a sleeping bag...put your feet in the box and cover yourself while the zipper is facing down, that way you are not stuggling with anything.

What would you say about using a large merino wool blanket, wrapped under and over you as an alternative to the Snugpack over quilt? Do you think that the wool would insulate better?

The same insulation material is used for the Jungle Bag, Jungle Blanket and XL, the top and bottom hammock quilts Temp ratings on the Jungle Bag are over rated Cannot use it sleeping bare anywhere near 10C So expect similar for all these same material products I use the XL Blanket and double wrap myself

I didn´t find this quilt very warm even warm summer nights. Those wings, don´t work very well. I think, classic blanket or rolled style topquilt is better. For me, Snugpak hammock quilt was waste of money.

Sorry man! Good review and I'm sure it's a great product BUT, I was married for along time and every now and then I was sent on these trips to "that isle" in the grocery or drug store that had female products. It reminds me of a panty liner with wings! A huge one! Maybe for Giganta the cartoon character or female elephant for those lite days.
