Hyperbeam is one of those cards that is probably good but is so antithetical to my usual strategy I never like taking it

It's good frontload for non-boss fights with low to mid health enemies like slavers. Not every card has to be good for every fight.

@@qb4428Yep. A card that saves you 11 HP in 3 or 4 hallway fights each is less flashy than the card that keeps you from getting crushed by slime boss or executed by Champ, but you still save a shit ton of health either way

Hyberbeam is really good if you can get it in the first 3-4 levels and then build around it. Basically Hyberbeam is a Plasma energy build, since focus doesn't effect Plasma, so you build around just channeling plasma and Reprogram.

It's essentially like a bigger Haemokinesis, in that it's a big attack card that you only want to play in certain combats or as a finisher because of the price it costs you.

@@jacobwansleeben3364 No, it's nothing like hemokinesis. If your deck doesn't need focus, then it's a big attack card with no downside. If your deck does need focus, it shouldn't be in the deck because you don't want cards in your deck that you 90% of the time can't play - that's practically like picking a curse on purpose. hemokinesis on the other hand is a card that says, "I can win all fights quickly OR I can heal so much that my hit points don't matter."

Defect although tricky to use is also a favorite of mine, the other characters don’t scale as hard but it can be very slow until all the pieces are together and figuring out how to not die first is the tricky part

The last elite in act 3, would it have been better to jump to the shop? With 704 gold and no courier, the odds of spending all that in one shop are low, and seeing 2 shops probably gets 2 good relics and 2 chances to find Pellets with Biased Cog, which almost immediately wins the run. Plus, at this stage, most powers are good, so getting two shots at Capacitor+, Loop+, Defrag+ etc seemed great as well, and the additional card remove also seemed nice. You managed to spend most of the money but I think that last shop was significantly above average, so it was a bit lucky to do so.

Can anyone explain why he constantly keeps forgetting to play his zero cost damage cards, particularly when hes struggling against an elite. There specifically several times i saw a hyperbeam at 0 cost and him just a few seconds ago was saying he needs to wrap up the fight immediately. So does he just not see it or am i missing some sort of mechanism?

In the case of Hyperbeam, the focus down might not be worth it, especially if he's relying on frost to stay alive. @Baalorlord aghh yeah that makes sense for most of the cases I saw! And some of the rest were to make sure the relic was gonna proc early next fight. There still were a few times left that hyperbeam would have ended an encounter so I'm a bit confused on those but hey he's clearly extremely skilled at the game so I just chop it up to either there's a reason he did it that I don't know or he forgot because he's been playing for hours and hours and mistakes are bound to happen. Thank you so much for the response:) I found him a few days ago and I've been watching at least 1 or 2 videos a day. It's gotten me back into the game
