Finally it is time to micromanage... sort of.
Update 0.9.9.0 is The Carrier Update, centered around the ship flown least in about a year. Commanders are given control over its dedicated hangar and AI squadrons stationed there. This addition is very welcome for both defense and offense, though most importantly for activity - now the carrier has more things to do and more active ways to affect the battlespace.
This is almost RTS, however not quite as coordinated. No waypoints, no stay orders, orders themselves are not strict, all this makes squads good at being a form of support rather than offensive capability. Micromanagement, as inviting and sometimes wanted, as it is, is hard to perform, if at all. Still, the effect of remote braining for squads from the carrier gives them a valuable edge over other AI and unsuspecting players.
Make sure to visit Options → Keybinds to set up new binds. Keybind mechanics of the game come extremely handy this time. Here I have made left Alt key as the "Order Mode" key, where left click is for targeting, and right click is for order menu. This way assigning commands becomes fast and easier to learn, which means - ergonomic.
The game is Infinity: Battlescape by I-Novae Studios, version 0.9.9.0, server is US-East.
