In my mind, this is the sweet spot of comic book art - flat colors but richer than the old basic coloring, detailed but not rigid and realistic, and still confined mostly to panels. The biz gets way crazier in just a few years, and even now I wish a lot of main stream art would be dialed back a bit.

Hey Omar, I think it's the first time I'm commenting on your videos, but I have to say super awesome! Between yourself, Gem Mint and Kurtis (FB group) I've got an all my comic doubts resolved! Thanks so much! So here goes my question: Having not read any of these series I'm quite confused by all the Thanos related material that's been put out in recent years (no doubt milking the success of the movies). Would be great if you could clarify either in writing or new video the reading order or even the need to get (just omnis to keep it simple): 1) Thanos Wars Infinity Origin 2) Inifinity Gauntlet 3) Infinity War 4) Infinity Crusade 5) Infinity Wars 6) Infinity by Starlin & Hickman and any others I've surely missed. Wonderful review Uncanny Omar! Would you mind considering doing a detailed retro-review of the last part of Uncanny X-Men V2 (Thomas/Adams) and Uncanny X-Men V1 and the first 3rd of Uncanny X-Men V2 up to Uncanny #143 - these are the stories where comics grew up - you were too young when they were released but from following your channel I know you have the utmost respect for those amazing stories. Your Children of the Atom review/unboxing was simply amazing. I was in high school and had been collecting for some time, and I have to tell you - the Thomas/Adams and Wein/Claremont/Cockrum-Byrne/Austin/G. Wein/Orzochowski/Shooter run of X-Men was literally incredible, with month-to-month edge-of-year-seats excitement/drama/pathos. Before that time, these were the key Marvel milestones: FF entire Lee/Kirby run; Spiderman entire Lee/Ditko run, Dr. Strange by Lee/Ditko; Silver Surfer by Lee/Buscema; Warlock (i.e., Strange Tales, etc) by Jim Starlin; Kree-Scrull War by Thomas/Adams; and finally Conan by Thomas/Windsor-Smith; Tales of Asgard by various - that was it - those were absolute, amazing runs/storeylines at Marvel, but they were completely eclipsed by the Claremont/Byrne/Austin run on Uncanny. Over at DC, you could probably say the LSH in Adventure Comics and Superboy & The Legion of Super-Heroes, Neal Adams Deadman and Spectre, and Dennis O'Neil/Adams GL/GA were the other amazing runs - but once (again, living in those days, going to high school, getting ready for university, the Uncanny X-Men were absolutely phenomenal - a lot has been written about what made that run so amazing, but a lot of it was Cockrum's amazing layouts, the Byrne/Austin perfect artistic collaboration, the Claremont/Byrne plotting, the international team, the fact that the Dark Phoenix saga which essentially began with the Sentinels capturing the X-Men in issue #98 having an ending in #137 (and in the Epilogue of #138), the Days of Future Past storyline that soon followed, the fact that for the most part the X-Men were on their own separate from the rest of the Marvel Universe super-heroes, the fact that the X-Men were often in civilian clothes and not in costume, the long-lasting/evolving subplots (eg., Proteus, Phoenix, etc), the fact that the X-Men were away from their home for so long (eg., when they saved the universe in #108, then from #110 onwards they were captured by Magneto and taken to Antarctica, Savage Land, Japan, Canada, and then after being home for a short time they went off to Scotland for the Proteus storyline, etc; and finally the triple assault of amazing storylines of Proteus - Hellfire Club - Dark Phoenix - absolutely amazing! Coinciding with the Claremont/Byrne/Austin run we also had the first part of the Miller/Janson Daredevil, the Demon in the Bottle Iron Man saga which actually went on for over 30 issues via the Micheline/Romita/Layton run, tthe amazing Roy Thomas/Keith Pollard Thor Celestial Saga which actually started in The Mighty Thor #230s up through #301. Great independent comics around that time included Cerebus, Elfquest, First Kingdom, and Mage, Grendel, Lone Wolf & Cub, DeMatteis's Blood: A Tale and Moonshadow, and Marvel's Weird World were right around the corner. After Uncanny X-Men we got Simonson's Thor run, Layton's first Hercules mini-series, Byrne's FF run, Kraven's Last Hunt (deMatteis/Zeck), and over at DC we got Crisis on Infinite Earths and, of course, Alan Moore's Saga of Swamp Thing, V for Vendetta, and Watchmen together with Miller's Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Year One - and after that we've got the all the amazing stories that The Uncanny Omar grew up with, beginning with the issues of Uncanny X-Men after the celebrated Claremont/Byrne/Austin run, Kingdom Come, etc. Please consider doing this - as a long-time comics fan who got his first taste of comics when I was 5 years old in 1969 when I was sick and my father brought me a JLA/JSA cross-over with Solomon Grundy, I would be more than happy to team up with you if you wanted to do a solid Uncanny X-Men review - its so much more than just the Dark Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past!

This looks really good. Despite how ridiculous the motivation of Thanos is, I still enjoy the story. It was really cool reading this for the first time, and seeing all of the heroes instantly getting taken out with the Gauntlet like something out of Super Smash Bros. Thanos was essentially a genie, and Starlin really made that clear. I think the only thing is that he does kind of write himself into a corner setting the stakes so high, that it was going to be really hard to have a quality payoff. I may want to pick this up once it's released, because even after all of this time it's still one of my favorite stories. Maybe I'll get it for a friend instead. I just got the X-Men Children of the Atom boxset too. I feel like I'm spending way too much on comics sometimes.

Pietro Grisolia I third this!!! I was able to get one in okay condition for cover price in the last year. I’m actually reading it right now since I’ve been reading from Amazing #1 and finally caught up. Stern is the best writer so far on Spidey besides Stan Lee easily(remember I’m only including everyone up to Roger Stern). It’s been fantastic and I only just got to his amazing run. I’ve made it through spectacular and it’s really really great. This NEEDS to be reprinted!!

How I was able to obtain this omni: the costs for the book itself was ridiculously overpriced since OOP so I decided to bite the bullet and pick up the graphic novel (which was the gateway drug into my comic collection) and then got Rebirth of Thanos followed by winning an eBay auction for Silver Silver Infinity Gauntlet Epic Collection (it was oop at the time) and then bought the Thanos Quest Epic Collection followed by picking up each individual issue needed to complete the contents through various eBay sellers (Doctor Strange ones being the most challenging to find in a set - which I did). Really glad I went with this route because I ended up with Incredible Hulk issue #383 signed by the man Peter David himself! (payed less than $10 for that). And.....yeah

It's too bad Perez couldn't do the entire series. I like Ron Lim's art but it's such a stark contrast to Perez's tight detailed pencil work. Marvel should have given George more lead time to do the complete series or at least let him do the layouts for the final two issues with Lim doing the finish pencils.

I remember when my brother bought the Infinity Gauntlet series in single issues. Back then we would go to the comic book stores. Literally, right before you walk into the comic book store, you can smell the old comics in the air. We bought this story as it came out in single issues. I can remember my brother explaining to me what was going on in the comic book. I was shocked when Thanos turned Wolverine into rubber. Wolverine and Hulk being my two favorite characters. I like this new segment that you thought of. Keep them coming. I now have this run in my comic book collection. I also have that Silver Surfer issue number 50 in my collection. I love that cover. Silver Surfer is one of my top five favorite super heroes. Stay safe.
