On the run from Agent Mace and Agent Sieve of the Mirror Police, Lake and Jesse get locked in a train car where the only way to advance is to kick a toad. Lake and Jesse’s argument stems from a lack of honesty with each other, and it’s not until trust develops between the two that they’re able to escape (and free the toad from his existential nightmarish existence). This was another excellent episode of Infinity Train.

I love the idea that the mirror world is this complex manifold that intersects the real world at every reflective surface, it fills me with the same Lovecraftian existential horror that I got in the final episodes with the endless black spires and white fog

What I like about the Kick the Toad thing (well, 'like' might not be the right word), is that it gets to one of the overarching themes of this season: The Train, and by extension, One -One, don't really consider denizens to be worth as much as people. Which isn't to say that One-One doesn't care. He can be deeply loving and empathetic. After all, he considers Atticus to be his friend, and said corgi is a denizen too. It's just that One One's programming says the most important thing is to help passengers. If making a car where kicking an innocent being will help some passengers work through their hang ups, that's justified, even if it really sucks for the toad. Remember, he fully considers killing Lake as a way to resolve the Jesse's number error at the end of the season, and is only stopped by getting caught in a logic loop again. I suspect we'll be revisiting this issue in Season 3, since we'll be following kids from the Apex who explicitly believe that train denizens are worth less than them. Perhaps in addition to learning a lesson themselves, they'll start to change how the train operates as well?

That car is such a mess. To progress you have to make an immoral choice or you’re trapped till you starve? Is it a lesson that sometimes you can’t always do the right thing? That sometimes you need to take a step back to move forward? That sometimes you have to live and deal with your guilt rather than be passive in a worse situation?

@@thatnikkakris2339 These 3 girls find a magic box and are sent to a realm of frog people, huge birds and insects, lizards, etc... The show follows Anne, one of the 3 girls as she stays with a family of frogs called The Planters (hop pop, sprig, and polly) She has adventures in this world and the show is mostly episodic in the first half, but around episode 9-10 we begin to realize there's more to this world then we can see with Anne. I won't spoil anything, but believe me it's worth watching. The season finale was easily one of the best cartoon episodes I saw in 2019.

Pretty sure he used it because he wanted to And i don't blame him, the police is an inherently flawed system where any individual can use unrestricted force over other individuals, there are rules to prevent that, yeah, but since the police is who enforces said law, they usually ignore it And that's why ACAB is a thing, because even if a cop is "good", he's overlooking the crimes of his partners (because let's be real, a single cop can't do anything about the entire police force), so there's either those who don't want to become cops, or those that join in and become part of the problem, so ACAB

I'm like two years late in responding to this comment, but as an FYI to future viewers who may stumble across it, the above is referring to lots of foul comments that have since been deleted. So Bleh's comment may look out of place in the present without the context that, at one point in time in this comment section, there were in fact some straight-up racist (not even merely boot-licking) comments -supporting the killing of black people- in defense of the police.
