America is currently plagued by the hydra-headed evil duo of inflation and recession. The worst part about this recession is that consumers are racking up credit card debt. In April alone, credit card debt went up 20% while rates have doubled in a year. Inflation is so high that consumers are literally taking debt for basic life necessities. Collapse has indeed begun..

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.

Since Biden took office, there seem to have been more unfavorable results in America. These results include effects on the markets, such as price declines and sharp increases in inflation, as well as bank failures. I wonder if the sudden increase in interest rates will help value investors or if it would be wiser to stay away from the stock and financial markets for the time being.

I completely agree. I'm 54 years old and recently retired with roughly $1.8m in outside retirement funds, no debt, and very little money in retirement funds relative to the total value of my portfolio over the past 3 years. To be honest, the Fin-advisor's role can only be downplayed, not dismissed. Simply try to identify a reliable one. Spending money on possibilities and things that might not exist much sooner than we realize is completely different from wasting it. As you said, being value-conscious is essential.

More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.

The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.

Inflation can have a significant impact on individuals and their cost of living. As a result, it can cause negative market sentiment. It is important for individuals and businesses to find ways to navigate and potentially mitigate the effects of inflation on their finances. The current economic climate, including underperformance of financial markets due to fear of inflation, has led to a decrease in the value of my portfolio. I would appreciate any recommendations on how to potentially increase returns during this market downturn.

Honestly, as someone born in Texas and who briefly lived in Kentucky, the central and mid-states are not that much better off than the coastlines. Prices are going up everywhere and unfortunately all states have issues which need to be taken into account regardless of one’s financial situation and circumstances. This is also part of the problem of moving to a, so-called, “lower cost of living state”, because while you may be living in a “cheaper” state there are many central states with less job opportunities and equally expensive rental and housing options. Let’s not kid ourselves. Prices are going up everywhere, regardless.

True, there is no place to hide. There are some exceptions outside our country but the same thing, generally is happening to all currencies. As you pointed out, the only successful advice is to extinguish all debt and reduce your consumption. If you can't do it yourself, the situation will compress your options for you. But if you do it yourself, you might be able to avoid financial ruin. Scale back now. Inflation is going to continue to worsen.

I agree. I live in a smaller “city” (if you can call it that) and rent prices are ridiculous here too. Better paying jobs here start between $15-20 an hour. Every time an apartment is listed for rent there are at least 50% laugh emoji’s. The rest split between sad, mad or thumbs up. The only jobs making more are medical or attorneys. School wages aren’t bad for the area. But those people usually own their homes not rent.

Some prices at Aldi are the same or more than Walmart. Some are cheaper. If you can find a Walmart with an Aldi close buy, check prices for any and everything you buy regularly. Keep an eye out for any sales or discounts, but only for items you regularly use or will begin using regularly. Only buy one of any new items you think you might use regularly until you know your family will actually eat it... I don't have any grocery stores within about 20miles, but on the way to Walmart, I have to pass a more expensive grocery store, that we stop in on occasion on our way home because they have a back corner where they put clearance frozen meats and manager specials that are cheaper than Wal-Marts or Aldi's meats. Ground pork goes as low as 99 cents a pound... We walk in, head immediately to the back, pick out what we want, walk to register to pay, and leave without walking the whole store... We live out in the country with 3 larger towns within 25 miles of us, and some weeks, we go to a different town to shop and will check out prices at their local stores once in a while. Also, only shop the perimeter of the store for healthy foods. Ask when they put out their meats on clearance and go shopping on those dates at that time... Good luck!

Life is not always smooth sailing and honky dory, there will be curve balls and this hard economic situation is one of them. The best is react and sacrifice a little to make it through. Complaining and sulking makes our mindset closed and downward spiral we go. The changes my family made were; we didn’t buy a new car and kept our 2006 Toyota Corolla (we did a mild tune up), we don’t buy brand name products unless they are on sale (flyers and price matching is awesome), we eat still at the great restaurants we love but less often and/or skip/share the desserts, and the savings we generate goes to investing. Since we can’t change the economic situation, we changed instead.

I've seen many, many political fundraising campaigns over the years, but that just now is the first one I have ever in my life seen that actually said to take care of ourselves first. My first apartment back in 2001 was a LUXURY apartment 1 bed/1 bath in a high-end area for $720/mth. The apartment I lived in when I moved to ATL used to be $750/mth. Enjoyed the video. Comical and you provided excellent advice to the audience. You must track your expenses to form a baseline of your spending. Next, see what expenses are. Then, create a budget on paper or spreadsheet, cutting out or reducing expenses where possible. It's going to get uncomfortable. Also, keep track of when memberships end to cancel automatic renewal or to change the plan to reduce cost. Money spent on expensive leisure activities such as distant vacations are likely not affordable. So, find low cost/no cost activities to participate around town or at home. Lastly, be willing to shop around during your normal route during the day. Look for sales on the grocery items that you like. BUT I will never pay mayo again! I will be making my own. It's less expensive and healthier. We all have to take "out of the box" action moving forward.

Some really ask for 5 years of experience for an entry level job. I was lucky to land something in my field when I first started. But there are jobs that require no degree that offers way more money. I’ve grown to realize college is a scam if you’re not getting a degree in medicine, dental or law. Sure you can turn other degrees into a career ……if your the lucky few. America is ass backwards…sad to see what’s going on. Hope all is well sir.

My job covers my health insurance. While I'm doing fine. I get absolutely angry when I hear the kind of spending people do. I used to do KZbin with someone and he was already in debt and than he would go out buy a car for his daughter and than spend 2k on a PC.
