I as an INFP won't stop the car I would sing loud, maybe cry and often I will drive way too fast 😅 it's this burning sensation in my heart and the tingling of my whole body that makes me want to drive fast

It took me forever to word this so hopefully it's understandable to other types. As an Infp when I listen to music I see/create a whole story of what's happening using the lyrics and the tones in relation to what things I've seen and experienced before as well as adding in how I'm currently feeling. Although I know I'm not in the story I would then feel things as though I was. When I re-listen to a song later the story changes based on my new life perspective and everything I've learnt since I last listened to it, while also remembering and bringing up the feelings from the other times I've listened to it.

INFP here (and musician/composer). I had to pause this video a few times as I walk around my living room to let music run through my head, only for a phone call to interrupt me and I was back to reality. I agree with you that any personality can become great musicians (one doesn't specifically have to be an INFP to be one). That being said, as an INFP, music profoundly effects my mood and how I go about my day. I have a personal list of songs which I deliberately try to avoid listening to because I know they will make me borderline cry (e.g. Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition - Ravel's orchestration). Unless I have a narrative laid out, I usually create music based on what I feel at that moment in time. Interestingly, when I do study/read music scores, I get pretty analytical reading the notes, but that's because I want to learn how I can recreate that certain effect that would play to my feelings in future works. Slightly off topic, writing about how I feel as an INFP is easy (especially when I have time to think), but telling people how I feel on the spot is trickier; every adjective or phrase I use feels like it needs to have an asterisk to it. Music somehow bridges this gap in which "if I can't write how I feel, but don't feel like talking, I'll let music do the talking". Great commentary btw! TO ADD: My boss at work is an ENTJ. Our personalities are complete opposites XD

Duuuude, same here. Whenever I research something or aftermath discussion, I put the earphones and play music while pacing alone

another musician INFP* here I find that I have a lot of INTP traits when it comes to music (in other stuff too, not just this) I often put music just to feel it, or if I'm doing some other task; I prefer putting happy and festival style music for those occasions because then it'll make me feel cheery and bubbyl which kinda gives me energy to complete my task? sorta????? when I put more broody or dark and repetitve styles of music though it forces my brain into a meditative state where I'm just introspecting rather than being bubbly I mostly don't compose music based on my feelings though, I'd say like 30-40% of the time; mostly what I'll do is just "hey maybe this concept would sound really cool if executed in this way" (kinda like how skimmerlit describes Ti composers do??), but when I do compose music with the purpose of eliciting a particular emotion or vibe I find the process is much faster and less painful to go through, and I usually can make an entire track in a single day when I do this, but it takes me weeks or months if I'm thinking about it in a more technical way sorta often when I try to make something that has a particular vibe, but obviously it never ends up being exactly what I had listened to so it will produce a completely different sensation in me and this will be quite jarring, but instead of focusing on the technical details of why it doesn't sound exactly like what I had in mind I instead focus on the different emotions that it produces, trying to figure out what they are exactly sometimes I will retroactively assign new significance to music I've made or listened to after I meditate on it some time and connect it with other experiences in terms of listening to music I often try to deconstruct what I'm listening to, in trying to identify why it makes me feel the things I do, and I'd say I'm 50/50 on the emotional-technical balance in trying to identify any factors that produce the feelings, and focusing on the feelings themselves; often I will deconstruct music with the purpose of replicating the feelings that it induced on me I can relate to the having to put a lot of asterisks on adjectives or having to think a lot to find a word that's perfectly suited to what I'm trying to describe I honestly don't know if I'm bad at identifying my feelings or if I just suck at finding the correct language to express it, I think it might be the latter since I do have some difficulties with language due to dyslexia

Personally, I'm an INFJ and I do agree with what you've mentioned here. I do approach art in more of I'm trying to convey a message or feel something specific or profit off of something from this. I tend to make and consume art in which I would find 'relevant'. It also comes with a competitive and analytical edge of critiquing work in whether or not there's a level of realism and good execution. I also am a snob for being picky with artists I choose to work with especially if I find their work something I'm motivated to get into the same direction of value I identify with. For my personal experiences with Fi types, I see a level of rigidness and exclusivity with the things they like but its a very personal one and most ISFPs and INFPs I've met tend to tell me, "I do this/pursue this because I like it." a very shallow answer as that but I can understand that they would want to go for it because they either find it visually pleasing/wish to be a replica of eg a character/relate to the role of the character. It hits the heart.

If you could comprehend the depth of feeling they feel inside you wouldn't dare to call it shallow. Fe types are the shallow chameleons.

Excellent video. As an ENTP, I have always approached art as this great thing that others have achieved. I never thought I could actually make something great, but because I knew art was great and that music made me feel things I could not explain, I had to figure it out. I had to know how to perform and explain and write music just as well just to deserve the music other people had written. Composition was never my passion. It was an obligation. I owed the people who made me feel something and it appears I will spend my life trying to deserve that feeling. Yea I have the meticulous analytical approach. I feel like if I can’t explain what makes me feel a certain way I have no right to express the feeling to others. Yea. So ofc I just learned all I could about music so I could try and explain it all. And now that I can explain most of it, writing it isn’t as fun. Stupid Ne gets bored too fast.

I think the introverted judging functions are in a way where our "identity" is, so they might feel the effects of music more personally, because the attention is directed inward. I notice high Fi, Ti users tend to talk to them selves or consult them selves more and easily dismiss others opinions, while high Fe,Te users have this constant awareness of other people or surroundings and their imaginary conversations are not with them selves but with imaginary people on the outside. *Figured out, a way to care less of criticism is to lean more in my Ti then Fe.

I'm an ENTP who enjoys experiencing and making art and, I can end up feeling constrained by unnecassery details when I'm making it. XNFPs (also an istj too so, maybe fi users in general?) that I came to know through years just created what they enjoyed deep down without considering the implications of their art, regardless of if it's embarrassing, or if it makes sense. Well, I'm not sure if I'm able to put it into words well, but people with different ways of thinking approach art differently yes. Also Fi users seem to feel that consuming force of art more frequently than I do, as well. Maybe they add their own imagination into the stories (Oh I ended up talking about things with stories rather than just drawings and music), finding something to be immersed into that I can't see. How we interact with art sure is an interesting concept..
