Man that is awesome! I usually run mine slow so it stops at 0.02 grains short so I can manually drop one kernel in before I drop it in my casing. Because I prefer accuracy over speed. This allows both! Thanks for sharing.

The v4 is still a great unit and ultimately you can add this to it if you like. As of today and with what options are out there, I tell people is that the v3 is great for someone who does a couple calibers and not a lot load testing. The v4 really makes life easy for doing various powders, charges and cartridges because of how it works. Both are great and honestly at this point the best one is the one you can actually get your hands on.

Re-visiting this now that I have had a SuperTrickler for a couple of months. As much as I love the ST for the extra functionality, sometimes I wish for something simpler. Out of all your throwers (V3, V4 and ST) which one is your current go-to?

Quick question John. What the diameter of the hole you drilled on the top cover and what distance from the center hole to it? Thanks,

At $360 plus shipping and the V4 Autotrickler being $490 plus shipping, this doesn't make sense to me. My V3 throws as fast as I can seat bullets.

Thanks for talking me into one! It works great but I was wondering what powder cup you use? Both the stock V3 and 419 cups I have the powder likes to bounce out her and there. Not a big deal but it gets annoying cleaning them off the platen.

@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
All you need is the v4 and the new trickler unit and a v3 cable. If you don't have a v3 cable you can order one from Autotrickler for about $10. Just cut the cord open like I show in the video and manually match them up to the cord on your v4. I'm hoping in the near future Ingenuity Products makes a patch cable that let's you just plug and play. other than that, you have everything you need to get going.

@brettinnj2 жыл бұрын
Very cool. The price seems high considering the V3 cost $500 total and you have to cannibalize your autotrickler. I also noticed a clear top that you drilled out. So I'm guessing the plexiglass shroud that you bought for the V3 was unusable? Where did you get the clear top? My FX-120i came with a thin plastic top.
@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
That clear plexi top is from Area 419 but you can just drill a hole in the stock plastic one and achieve the same success.

I am just getting started in competition shooting, have only shot 1 f-class and loved it. I have an RCBS now, should I sell it and buy an A&D and the IP before I get frustrated. My goal is to be competitive at SWN's someday.
@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
I don't know which RCBS you have but it's not a bad unit but any combination of AutoTrickler will definitely take you to the next level in terms of repeatability and time savings. They're pretty far behind so I'd order now if you want one this year.

best bet at this point is to buy the trickler electronics from Adam (autotrickler) and just manually dump the initial charge and use this for the trickle up. easy peezy

Any of the A&D FX series are what you need for the AutoTrickler system. He used to make a system for the Sartorius but doesn't anymore so you have to go with the A&D.

Have you checked to see if any of your dispensed kernels (not ball powder) get sliced in half? Are they dropped 100% unaffected? If you have the time perform quick dispensing test over white piece of paper with some extruded powder.
@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t done a dedicated test to be honest but one of the features he has that I didn’t point out is on the underside near the exit shoot he has a ball bearing and it is just big enough to knock kernels out of the way to keep them from cutting so that only kernels that fit in the desk make it through. Ultimately this means that some longer kernels might never get picked up in the desk but it does also prevent them from being cut or chopped.

@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
If you're new to this then the V4 is your only real option unless you find a used v2/3 and then get this. Neither one is a bad option. The V4 is still a better choice for those looking to do all kinds of powder and lots of different charges.
@zoidelux2 жыл бұрын
@@FClassJohn thanks John, im just using 1 charge master lite, occasionally check the throws with a gempro 250… just cant help but wonder if the occasional throw thats .1 or .2 off might be affecting load development/groups… have you tested and confirmed what kind of powder deviations start affecting groups/ taking you out of a node?
@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
@@zoidelux If you're doing your job correctly then .1gr won't really make a difference BUT I don't like taking a chance. It's a weird fine line between cost (which gets you accuracy and speed) or saving money which is still fine but less accurate and slower.

@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
If I have more than one fx120 they help me identify in the Autotrickler system which scale is being connected. You don’t see it with one scale but if you have several Autotrickler systems running at once the app will post up those numbers for you to choose which you want to connect to.
