To answer your one question, a drifter is a small self contained surface crawler drill able to angle drill in positions a normal rotary blast drill couldn't. These drills are most often found on quarry's or on big construction jobs. An Ingersoll Rand ECM590 would be an example of a drifter rock drill

Ingersol Rand manufactured some tough tools, air compressors, and such. I have used an IR impact hand air driver in the 1970s, that was manufactured in 1949, at my place of employment. They had some old, very large, 3 phase, air compressors that were IR, also, still in good working condition. They also had several large, wet vacuum pumps. I believe some of those lasted 50years, in a tough production environment, with only a motor replacement, on a couple. They had started having to replace some of the pumps when I retired.

I don't know, most likely it will end up either being bought for parts or getting scrapped. I think this one was shut down in the early 90s. And I have heard those straight 6-71 detroits are good engines!

Oh the F9. Yes that's a drifter. Actually I'm on filming that machine again to make a more detailed video.
