Hey, die hard Quentin tarantino fan here, you should really watch all of his earlier films like pulp fiction, resevoir dogs, jackie brown and definitely kill bill, tarantino is a filmmaker who dedicated to old school filmmaking and it;'s evident in all his work, but you should definitely as well watch his second wester The hateful eight, also his newest film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Tarantinos scores, 99% of the time, are pieces of score or songs lifted from other movies. One of the more obscure ones is this is the scene where Landa shows up at the restaurant and puts his hand on Shoshana.. that's the thumping theme song of "Master of the Flyiing Guillotine (1977), which was done by NEU, the german punk / experimental band.

Most Americans don't know this but in the bar scene where Michael Fassbender gave himself away was because in Germany, it is common and taught that when you want to show the #3 with your fingers, they always lift up the index finger, middle finger, and thumb! Americans indicate this by simply holding up the index, middle, and ring as he did. If you look at that quick scene the Nazi Captain stared at his hands with a puzzled look. Hence, the dead give away even if Michael had a perfect accent.

@serhio4275
@serhio4275 2 жыл бұрын
Ye know what's really interesting ? This movie is a joke at other patriotic war movies. Here villains are much smarter and two steps ahead of Basterds. Hans Landa already know that french man hide jews and just want to play with him, scaring him to have confession just for fun, and that big smoking pipe represents himself as Sherlock Holmes. He recognized Shoshanna at first glance but he already have a plan to switch side, war come to it's end either, so ended only with taunts - even if Basterds is fail their plan, Shoshanna will be plan B. And that italian scene - he just went laughing of how ridiculous their plan and words, how stupid it sounds, "And that how you goin' to end the war?" Other detail - officer at pub. He already saw that movie of which they talking about in Shoshanna's cinema - you can see poster of that movie at start of previous chapter, so he knew that legend of english agent is fake. + as was said, everyone knows who Hugo is, especially officers, so it's double fail. And one more detail about that movie which nazi's are watching. They laugh when on screen enemy is dying, but isn't we do the same when watch similar movie ? Like i said, one big joke. Still good guys wins even with such losses

The most shocking thing about this movie is it made me sympathize with Nazi soldiers. The Basterds behaved like a bunch of psychopathic douchebag frat boys that I ended up wishing they're all dead. At least that was what stayed with me 12 years later. P. S. I was hooked by Tarantino in late 2000s, so here's what I recommend/remember liking: Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill vol. 1(vol. 2 is sooo boring).
