one joke on this show that always gets a laugh out of me was when claire's actress got recasted and the way they found to make it feel less jarring to the audience was to make michael ask her if she did something to her appearance and she was like "no, dad, i just brushed my hair back" and he's like "whatever it is, you look like a whole new person". that was a very clever one. pretty sad the show didn't age all that well, it was a great part of my childhood alongside everybody hates chris.

I love MWAK, but looking back as a young adult, I wish the characters had better development for their characters; like yes it was funny and everything but the show lost me after season 3. After Claire was recast in s2, she didn’t change much, she was still smart and trying to navigate teenage life but she became more confident as she was beautiful whereas s1 Claire had insecurities and they just vanished like that. Then on s3, she became some sort of Jr 2.0, being dumb, falling down stairs and they only acknowledge her being pretty but she did have moments where she could outsmart Michael which I liked. Jr just became dumber and dumber every season passing by and I wish they would’ve given some new arc where he stops being such a child but not even having a baby made him realize that (especially after s3) Janet became crazier as the seasons went on, a little bit like Gina on Martin but it didn’t seem to lead nowhere. As for Kady, she just became a bratty child in a relationship with a genius boy and boy I liked Franklin but that storyline gave me a headache especially in the latter seasons. Yes it’s a sitcom but one thing I hated with sitcoms, is how they would make the characters ridiculously dumb as the seasons went on, just so unnecessary and annoying. But still a memorable show and I watch the first three seasons often.
@TheAngryj8 күн бұрын

there was an episode where junior went off on Michael about how hard he was about junior becoming a young parent. He kept bugging him about an egg and there was a moment where junior really did step up to Michael and tell him that his best might not be what his dad expects but he’s trying and it was so tense to the point Michael was speechless. I HATE that scene because instead of having us sit in that and really get the Dad’s reaction, immediately the egg broke and Michael just laughs at junior. IM STILL PISSED ABOUT THAT. I feel like it was those rare moment in the show where the dad got humbled but they completey dropped the ball on actually making the scene stick. I think even though junior was stupid most of the season, you got to see him develop and want more for himself. He went to college and found a passion of art. But his family was his biggest opp and kept telling him how stupid he was. I feel like he wasn’t as stupid as he let on because you seen pockets of him trying but his family STAYED demeaning him. Watching this sitcom now as a young adult for starters Janet and Michael's relationship is super toxic😮💨😔. From season 2 of Michael size-shaming Janet, to the constant arguments and marriage therapy sessions with the two. I especially hated the favoritism shown to Junior and how Janet and Michael never worried about him getting a woman pregnant or sleeping with many women,but yet Claire had gotten lectured and targeted every chance she had gotten and the Irony is that Junior ended up not only getting a woman pregnant,but made love in his parent's own bed. Does anybody notice that Gina and Janet's name was similar? Like Gina waters Payne and Janet Marine kyle? Like the marine and waters idk if I'm reaching. Also I think one thing about Claire's casting is that they attempted to make her more 'femenine' by making her self absorbed. The old Claire was still selfish at times but to me she seemed like a typical teenager who wanted distance from her parents in order to make her own identity, for instance the episode where she doesn't wanna go out with kady and the one where she doesn't want her dad to go bra shopping with her. She also stood up for junior and punched that one kid, whilst the new Claire seemed to be more dependent on junior and more idiotic,thinking her looks would do everything for her whilst the old Claire was insecure, remember when she cut her eyebrows too thin to get the attention of one boy. To put it simply besides their skin tone, their personalites was something that made the character so different throughout the series.

I love my wife and kids! At least I think I still do lol when i do a rewatch i usually only watch the episode with kat williams and like one other, but i definitely agree where it felt like nothing be happening on that show and theyre just like stuck in the house. And it didnt help that i personally hated the vacation episode so i was like damn.... nevermind.just go back home atp lmao. I guess as a kid i liked it because it felt like stuff was going on but as i got older and watched more sitcoms it was like not much going on to keep me watching despite the cast being funny together

Parker was in a movie with Alyson Stoner called Alice Upside Down. She played Alyson's new friend from her new school Elizabeth.

In regards to the mentioned scene in Scary movie, it was supposed to be a play on the scene from SCREAM. Someone gets a knife in the ear.

This show is still on TV here in France. In the daytime but still! It was massively popular here when it came out so I'm told. It's called "ma famille d'abord" (my family first)

Good title, for real ^^'. In my country, they translated to "Me, The Female Boss and the Children" 😅.

When I started watching My Wife and Kids, they played the episodes where Jay was absent. And I remember thinking, why is the show My Wife and Kids if the wife wasn't around?

South African🇿🇦here. I grew up watching My Wife and Kids, That's So Raven and Everybody Hates Chris. I always had a problem with Everybody Hates Chris, he wasn't only mistreated by the community, but he was mistreated by his own family. I caught that as a kid. Now I'm an adult and I find Rochelle problematic. Sorry, but that masculine energy she has over her husband is a NO. A husband that works 2 jobs, provides and protects his family, never been caught cheating... I'm sorry but I'm catering that man like I'm catering to a king. Julius was no dusty. He was a hard-working man who loved his family. He deserved a soft wife not some loud crazy wife... Pls do Everybody Hates Chris. Maybe u have a different view

Have you seen the black wonder years it's so good and they sadly took it away it has it's issues but it's overall a cute family show speaks volumes that they kept abbot on who has non black people in it but took off Wonder years who had an all black dark skin cast🙄
