Gamers Nexus said it right. Arrow Lake, despite being delayed a whole year, wasn't ready for launch. Too many bugs, too many issues. I really feel like the chip would do better and be better in gaming if Windows, Drivers, Microcode, etc were all optimized for launch.

Intel kept performance up for the most part, while reducing power consumption and eliminating hyper threading. While that may not be the performance gain we all want, it’s a positive sign of what’s to come if they keep at it. Think back to first gen Ryzen it was buggy, didn’t beat Intel but offered competitive performance albeit slower at a lower cost.
@jonascoscomАй бұрын
I see a cpu that is allround. Even the games I have seen were all playable. Intel is creating something that fit all side.

OK - so the bit confusing me, is the sacrifice made on the GPU, to accommodate 2 PCIe5.0 x M.2 slots. Is it possible to insert 2 PCIe5.0 M.2 SSD's WITHOUT interfering with the GPU running at maximum lanes? If so, what should be populated? I've gone blind looking at mobo specifications recently.
@PaulRichard-q6dАй бұрын
The way I'm reading it - is I can populate a GPU, and for SSD use M.2 slot 2_1 to give me unshared bandwidth; and 2nd SSD, still offering unshared bandwidth, is PCIe4.0 only. In short I can fit just one GPU with one PCIe5.0 SSD, without making a sacrifice.
@JCustomАй бұрын
M2.1, m2.3 and m2.4 are gen 5. Rest are gen 4. In short no you cannot have 2 gen5 without reducing 16x1. However, you may need to evaluate if you really need gen5 speeds. I find gen4 is way more than one needs for regular gaming work creation workloads. With next gen nv cards being gen5 that x8 also wouldn’t so bad a compromise either.
@PaulRichard-q6dАй бұрын
@@JCustom Thanks for the answer, and the detail. Yes, I think Gen4 is good enough - but if Gen5 exist, without throttling the GPU, then they might as well be used. I assume 1 Gen5 is possible without sharing GPU bandwidth, on M2._1, right? Then Gen4?

I want your advice. I am building intel core 9 285k. Do i need the new asus extreme AIO or i can just use none extreme? also do i need to wait for CUDIMM memory kits?
@JCustomАй бұрын
I think you will be fine with any aio. Most aios have a fairly flat cold plate which be fine for a wide range of chips. I would say for higher capacity greater than 32 cudimm wouldn’t hurt. However, from the three chips I have regular 7600 hasn’t been an issue

Still some room for optimizations but doubt it'll flip any charts around. It's definitely not a gaming topper, people are better off looking at X3D chips.

No, I only recommend this board for power users who can take advantage of the dual lan, thunderbolt 5 etc. from a functional perspective there are better options for gaming build that better on the wallet like the strix series

9000 series AMD was a bit lateral as well but a stepping stone to next gen, these intel chips are not much different. If Intel maintains the same socket, it would probably be more interesting on a refresh. It's my understanding that due to AMD and Intel both getting refreshed at the same time frame, there was more of a change on Intel side therefore more time was devoted to the Intel launch.

Its sure funny how fast people are to dismiss something. Jesus like maybe give it a little time so we can maybe learn a little more about this new gen before dismissing it. I have seen a lot of things I like about it and am waiting to see what becomes of it before dismissing it. Also this guys should have pointed out that the 3 pin RGB header is only 5 volts while the 4 pin ones are 12 volts. Please be aware of that so you dont blow things up. I really like the looks of this board so I think I will give it a try.

Locked to only a +400 Mhz increase on the P-cores is a hard pass for me. Even the LN2 boys could only manage a 7.5Ghz OC on the 285K. Gaming is a big disappointment and anyone looking to upgrade should look at a 7800X3D or 9800X3D. You want Intel, grab a Z790 board with a 12/13/14th gen CPU and call it a day.
@royzhou7275Ай бұрын
I strongly agree with you on gaming. 720p low might be a metric but it's an irrelevant one. Techtubers should at the bare minimum test the gaming separately. For e-spoprts and competitive titles, test them at 1080p/1440p, show us the 1% low. For AAA titles, test them in CPU intensive scenarios instead of using built-in benchmark at 1440p/4K with and without RT. Right now, most of their results are trash and it's not worth watching.
