You are spot on with your first impression. Most motorcycle riders are from Venezuela, Colombia, or other Central American countries. Panamanians usually have one or more cars. I’m European and I do everything with public transport in the city. In case of emergency you can fall-back to taxis. It works really well. However, you should live close to a metro station and a supermarket. Regarding friendliness: In my opinion Panamanians have two modes (i) friendly and (ii) stressed. When they are stressed they can be rude. People in the rural areas are also different from people in the city. The Spanish culture is more present in the rural areas (Los Santos, Herrera). You should visit the former US Canal Zone like Clayton or Ciudad del Saber, Ancon, Albrook (the neighborhood). There are some really beautiful and green places to live. Costa del Este or Panama Pacifico are also great to visit if you want to get a more complete impression of the city.

I don't know if it's fair to call Panamanians unfriendly, or stressed...as a people. If you are in a metropolitan zone and financial center, people are more focused on work and the task at hand. Things move faster, so no time to stop and smile. Similar to the vibe in NYC or LA.

Panamanian over here ✌🏻We are friendly, but very blunt compared to other latinamericans, so we pass as rude in comparison haha…best pristine beaches are on the Caribbean side, best surfing beaches are on the pacific side. Around 4% of Panamanians are of Chinese decent, we have also one of the biggest Jewish communities in Latinamerica, also many libanese, Indians, Americans, people from the Antilles, and basically every human group you can imagine…even many South Africans…but naturally our core culture (and dominant) is basically a mixed mestizo catholic culture with many layers of foreign components that are already considered as Panamanian…like one of our common traditions is to go for Cantonese dim sum on sundays hahah…enjoy! and if you have any doubts I’m glad to help :)

Wesley, some of the stuff in the video is true, but some of it is definitely not. As far as Panamanians a lot of us are very diverse ethnically. I think that perhaps you were using a lot of public transportation and I must say that yes a lot of dark skin people in Panama are humble and they do ride public transportation. While a lot of the population in Panama have cars and that's why Panamanians have lots of talking about traffic because there is just so much cars in Panama and it is very hot usually outside since it is a tropical climate and people would rather go in their cars even if it's a few blocks away. And many Panamanians go to the gym or go work out at the Amador Causeway or Omar Park. Panama. Panama City is very cliquish some neighborhoods you will think that you are in a very, very nice upscale area of Miami, where a lot of wealthier Panamanians live and also if you go out towards the western part of Panama City, you find a lot of mixed people in Panama of some having lots of Spaniard heritage especially in the heartland provinces of Panama onward to Costa Rica. In Panama is one of the most ethically diverse countries in the world!... And unique at that from the rest of Latin American cities. And I have to strongly disagree with you in saying that Panama is a little obese, etc. in terms of its population that is not true. It's just that you went to a restaurant with greasy quick food, and you honestly did not spend that much time in Panama to even judge. If you go outside of Panama City, the people even look different depending on what region of Panama you are in. There are a lot of light skin people in the heartland of Panama, which consist of provinces like Los Santos, Herrera, Cocle, Veraguas and Chiriqui. Unlike Asia and Southeast Asia, in Latin America there are countries that share DNA similarities, as well as same/similar cuisine, cultures, music etc .... Panama, Colombia and Venezuela are countries that were one 1 nation nation before and Panama and Colombia were both 1 country not too long ago... Panama separated from Colombia in 1903. There is even a misconception that Colombians are mostly light skin, which is not true at all. I know a lot of Colombians that are dark skinned, and not necessarily just from Cartagena. in fact COLOMBIA HAS THE LARGEST AFRO-HISPANIC population in Latin America. I've met ALOT of dark skin people from Medellin, which have also native/African roots.. I think that some of the judging does have to do with the the spreading of some misinformation about both countries and it is why many people don't have accurate information of either Colombia or Panama.. and to top it off Panama is a country that was part of Colombia and a lot of similarities not only in food, but also in culture and in people, because essentially it was part of Colombia as it was a province from Colombia. And not to mention, it is just incredibly silly to compare Panama (population 4 million) to Colombia (30 million plus) that's like comparing Taiwan with China..... not only that, but it is kind of funny to compare both places in terms of people because Panama was part of Colombia and both countries share same genetics with foreign genetics from Europe, Africa and even Asia as well. Also there's a good amount of African/Native descents from Colombia and Venezuela in Panama that are pedestrians who take mostly public transportation, so you're pretty much having a high chance of confusing a dark skin person for Panamanian when they are in fact, Colombian or Venezuelan. and as I said before Colombia and Panama were once one country. People from Panama are very friendly as well friendly.. The only thing is that Panama City has a hustle and bustle environment because this is a very cosmopolitan city and there's people not only from all over the world but there's a lot of business districts and that's why there's a lot of high-rises that our office towers as well just behind the residential condominiums.... so there's a lot of movement going on in fact, Panama City is a little more fast pace than Medellin.

@chrissysviews: Thank you so much for your sharp analysis. The way you have described, the country could have not been better. There’s so much more to it than just Panama City… sometimes you gotta get out of the bubble and your preconceived misconceptions to understand a country. And like you pointed out correctly, especially when you mistake immigrants from other countries for Panamanians.

@@ronjames-music it is not as much that people need to censor what they say around others, but we need to be skeptical and analyze every statement that one makes and compared to the many others visitors comments & experience, and so we are able to tell the mindset of the few that will constantly emphasize that they don't like the people or will not live in this place. It seems to me that they are trying to stop others from visiting the city. And as if that was not bad enough, he makes statement hating and dark-skinned people and calling others obese. These statement rose my eyebrows and Cause me to question as to whether the person is sincere, racist are just an agent that was sent to degrate the the people and the country for whatsoever political reason it be. Thoughts: I have watched your channel a few times in the past when you were in Colombia and for the most parts i liked your insights. But as far as this video is concerned you don't do Panama justice in my opinion. Your opinion is your opinion.... i understand, but if your going to do a video on Panama don't just show a hot hostel with no AC. You made a lot of generalizations in this video about people being Obese , mostly dark.... not friendly ....i would think you have to travel to many cities and and spend real time in a place to make some of those those comments. I have never had anyone say to me that Panamanians are rude and not friendly. Also, there are many beautiful women there so you clearly were not there long. Its ok not to like a place for one reason or another but you painted this country in a poor light in my Opinion.. Come on man in the city of Panama alone...you have Cinta Costera, Amador Causeway, Casco Viejo that are are all beautiful s....but you have no photos of the beauty.. Instead you showed shots of a hot Hostel with no AC with people laying around drained from the heat..Lol. .Hey..... i would not like Panama either if that is all it had to offer. Respect.

This are the most weirdest comment I've ever heard of Panama. Yes I take that it is hot and humid, but this is What's needed to create the magic of an adventurous vacation, and that cannot happen in a cold or freezing weather climate. It is all about beaches hiking, mountain, riding bicycle in family through a strip of land that goes through the sea to the islands etc. This doesn't cost much either, you could also walk it it's free. But if your interest is in dealing with beautiful womens their are many many races too. Panama is known to be the melting pot. There is no need for name-calling who's fat dark skin or what have you. The color doesn't matter. To each his own. As for me I love my dark-skinned woman, also Food in Panama is also rice and peas with coconut, oxtail, arroz con Pollo stew fish etc you needed to move aroud to different places. Another thing to consider is that you could live in a place like this if you have your apartment and car with A/C. The Metro Train, Bus,Mall etc.has A/C, does your hostel have A/C ? You will not live here,is your personal choice, but others love it, just check out the different expat that are flooding into Panama. I have listened to every statement you made considering what Panamal is, and I am sure that you do not know Panama or the panamenians. Didn't see you walking through the city and videotaping yourself anywhere of course you will be bored. Just my observation. Goodnight.

As regards to the climate, it is a city located inside a tropical rainy forest, similar to Manila, Singapur, kuala Lumpur. It may be hot but not so much as cities in the middle east like Dubai or Doha. The most important all the places, public offices and malls have air conditioning. Something to be reckoned is that Panamá is the most multi-cultural and cosmopolitan city in the region.

The outskirts have a mix of upscale and poor neighborhoods, and everything in between. The metro was designed to run through the blue collar areas, people who depend on public trasportation and can't afford to buy a car, hence your impression of the outskirts of the city. If you want to see beautiful chicas you need to go to Casco Viejo, Amador Causeway, or Cinta Costera on the weekends. That's where you'll see all the beauties, otherwise you'll see mostly "obese' housewives running errands. Panamanian young girls tend to stay indoors until the weekend, then they let loose 😉 You won't find that street culture you find in Colombia where it seems like nobody stays home.

@@WheresWes Yes. Also, Panamanian men tend to like their women on the chubby side, so that explains things a bit too. The city is very cosmopolitan with people of all races. Very rare in Latin America. That's why you see a lot of "dark" people. All those races mixing together ❤️ Have you been to Multiplaza mall?

But how crazy to compare countries that have no comparison. First, 4.5 million people live in Panama, more or less, and perhaps a million and a half really are Panamanian, the other 3 million are foreigners. An example is my family of Jewish origin. My father and I were born in Panama. And that is how it is for those of Chinese, Indian, North American, Afro-Caribbean European descent and obviously if you investigate the history of the birth of Panama as a nation it is made in the style of the USA from many of its foods and customs of course there will be a lot of influence from the Caribbean because they came for the construction of the canal and they are the grandparents with a heritage rich in flavor and they speak good English for the most part and regarding beauty I did not know that being dark-skinned was being ugly that is called racism and it is well known that racism is a sign of low and superficial intellect... in short, it is strange to see a person of a not so privileged race taking this position that is always seen more in the mind of another group that has had the supramacy of the humanity ..... and now I wonder if you had only come to Kunayala all of Panama would be without overweight and short stature or if you had only gone to azuero then the people would be clear and easy-going or if you had only visited Boquete then it would only be Anglo-Saxon people with gringo hobbies you can't really evaluate a country by one million inhabitants who live in the capital and the other three don't count.

There are a couple of points he made in the video that didn’t make any sense. 1. Panama is a melting pot. Probably one of the most diverse places I’ve ever visited. To hint that Columbia is more diverse is honestly a joke. Even a friend of mine from Cali Colombia was telling me that one of the things she enjoys the most about Panama is the diversity of the people and the culture. 2. Yes, I agree some Panamanians look like Caribbean people, because a lot of them came during the time when the canal was built, and their ancestors decided to stay and integrate in the local community, but the truth of the matter is when you take a closer look at them, you are going to realize that a lot of them look much more like a African-Americans. Especially when you look at the way they dress and their overall style. Even a friend of mine from Detroit pointed out, what he loves about Panama is that if he doesn’t open his mouth (he doesn’t speak Spanish) , he blends right in versus in Columbia he sticks out like a sore thumb , because everyone recognize him as an American. 3. What he said about the Asian population was almost a slap in the face and I’m not even Asian. Panamanians of Chinese decent and Panamanians of East Indian decent, have a long history in Panama that dates back generations, to the time when white colonialists decided to bring them over from Asia to build a railroads. Afterwards they stayed and integrated with the local population and married local women. That explains why you will find a lot of “Latino” looking Panamanians with Chinese last names. The other thing there’s a reason why there’s a Chinatown in Panama City. And last but not least to say that in California Asians, speak their language and English and it surprised you that in Panama they speak their language and Spanish. What’s surprising about that are they supposed to speak English? Panama is the spanish-speaking country, so that statement was beyond me. Other than that informative video. 👍

dude you have clearly not been to Panama. Colombia and Panama are VERY alike. In fact Panama WAS part of Colombia and the people are extremely similar to Cartagena/Barranquilla. Even some Panamanian honeys are finer than Colombians I've met a few. US Style cars/trafffic?? and Panama IS NOT obese like US. that's because No offense to any Asian men but in Panama they prefer Gringos anyway all day man, even more than their own men.
