I'm glad you were able to see a doctor and find out what was happening. Regarding the buried animal you came across, I'd suggest you be careful and alert in that area. Bears will often bury the carcass of animals they've killed and will come back later to eat it. They can be very protective of these spots. If you don't have bear spray already, it might be good to get some to have when you go on your walks.

True that predators bury their kills, but that was definitely a human burial. Branches on top and all. Predators don't do that.

Yes David, definitely cougar or bear, my guess would be cougar because it was fairly clean! Cat more than likely! And yes definitely stay clear of a predator kill they have to work to hard to give them up easily. For the most part a cat will stay clear of you but when food or young are involved they have a different mindset.

David, you might want to consider selling your ambo and getting another one with a taller interior height. As you can't stand upright when you are inside, you are throwing your body mechanics off. If that is something that isn't feasible for you, then perhaps raise the ceiling where you are able to. If you take off the ceiling panel you will see that there are aluminum 2"x2"s going across the ceiling. In between the 2"x2"s the ceiling is higher. You may want to consider opening up a channel or two so you can walk front to back and cook, wash dishes, etc while completely standing upright instead of hunched over. You'll lose a little in ceiling insulation but it may be worth it. Another thing to consider is Pilates floor exercises and yoga. Good to hear you are doing better.

Been there with an injury in the back country with no help. Severely sprained knee. Could put zero weight on it. Somehow managed to climb into my Ursa Minor top to sleep. Also managed the next day to put the top down. Called my buddy and drove from Flagstaff to Alabama. He put me up and it took me close to two months to recover. Really wakes you up to how precarious your well being it in this lifestyle. Be well. Be safe. Quick recovery.

I know EXACTLY what you went through. Take this seriously. After spasms subsided work on stretching your hamstrings laying on your back with one leg up and one leg flat to the ground for 15 minutes minimum. Do these stretches every day. This stretches all the lower back muscles and will take the stress off the vertebrae and compressed nerves. You might have a disc rupture, but you can heal this. There are more stretches to do, but the hammies will be your biggest muscle to help lower back. Stretching is incredibly important. I’ve been there.. My thoughts and prayers.

After 30 years of place work my back was shot, with a lot of daily pain. Seeing a good chiropractor multiple times certainly helped but for the last six years I have been using a hard foam roll every day and you can feel it re align the vertebrae preventing them from going out. Since starting this regimen I haven’t had to see a chiropractor more than a half dozen times. There is a you tube video “ bob and Brad” who are physical therapist who have some good info on persistent back pain.

Glad you're feeling better David. I've had lots of problems with my back and neck (disks at L1, L2, C6) excruciating shooting pain just like you described plus joint inflammation in my fingers, elbows shoulders and toes. Nothing really helped until I cut processed food out of my diet. Once I did that things started turning around. All the pain started going away and I could actually see the difference in the size of my knuckles, both toes and fingers. Nearest I can figure I had developed some kind of food allergy that was attacking the soft tissue of my joints (which is more common than most people think. I've gone from being a prematurely crumpled up old man to digging in the garden, getting more exercise and being a lot healthier. I also lost about 25 pounds of belly fat and went back to the muscle tone I had when I was younger. The brain fog I was experiencing cleared up as well. Every time I fall off the wagon and start eating processed junk again the pain starts coming back which nudges me back towards a cleaner diet. I don't know if that's what's happening to you but it's something that is pretty easy to experiment with by removing certain things from your diet and then going back to eating them after a couple weeks and seeing how you feel. The foods that make you feel bad when you go back to eating them are most likely causing some kind of reaction. I know this is advice that you didn't ask for but it's what worked for me so I thought I'd share it. Good luck to you and Lefty.

Hi Infotoons • just found your comment and the list of those letters and numbers instantly had me relating to your pain. I've had two back ops. Neither really helped. The best ive found is cognitive behaviour therapy....mind over matter or pain.....I feel for you both. It's breath takingly dreadful..... Always be aware of how easy it is to upset your back.....The lack of sleep and constant aggravating pain is awful.....You are not alone and thankfully he had someone help him move past it..... If you don't mind me asking, what foods have you cut out? I have 3 vertebrae in my neck Wich are losing the cartelege between the bones and causing alot of pain in my elbows, wrists and finger joints, I've heard about changing food's can help, I don't want to releigh.on pain meds if I can do it a more natural way! but at this point I'd eat radioactive bat shit on a daily basis if I thought it would help relive the pain! there's times I can't hardly turn my head or do simple things without a lot of pain, plus sleep loss! and 60 is to young to fell like I'm 95!

@@russpendergraft5057 Processed sugar, corn products and wheat products were the big three for me. Wheat in particular was a problem for me even though it didn't seem to mess with my gut. Organic weed doesn't make me hurt nearly as much. When I do the best is when I'm able to keep on a ketogenic diet. Adding iodine, collagen, quality bioavailable vitamin and mineral supplements along with very large doses of vitamin C and D3 are other things that helped. I also buy single ingredients and cook for myself instead of letting corporations cook for me using ingredients I can't pronounce. This isn't something I did all at once. First I eliminated sugar, then corn, then wheat, then went to the ketogenic diet later adding all the things I mentioned over the course of about 3 years. It's not easy but pain is a very good motivator. I've fallen off the wagon and when I do after about a month I start feeling the pain coming back into play. When I'm doing good my diet consists mainly of fresh vegetables, meat, a lot of fat (mainly organic butter, heavy cream and coconut oil in my coffee and unsweetened cocoa) along with a little bit of tubers and fruits. Although I do backslide and make myself an organic pizza now and then. I don't know if this is something you're willing or able to do but this is what helped me. I hope something here helps you Russ. Good luck.

Your choice of food stuffs to cut out is awesome. I got my dietary information from a real dietitian as my doctor had no information for me. It is life changing. Finally I couldn't go without a bathroom trip, an hour or more, just getting off the bed, crawled to the bathroom, then couldn't get up to use it. Day 3 was getting myself half cleaned and crawling to kitchen. Still couldn't reach the phone. By the 5th day I managed to stand and shuffle. I had never in over 60 years, had back, hip pain. My heart goes out to you - I know the pain you were feeling. I've had my lower back seize up (shooting pain) and it would literally take me 10 minutes to turn from my left side to my right side and then sit up to get out of bed - I'd have to take deep breathes to prime myself for a bit of a turn, then lay there for a few minutes while the pain subsided and repeat until I was upright - I couldn't walk without a walker because I couldn't straighten up - it hurt so bad I thought I would die from the pain - needless to say I was out of commission for quite a few days. As a result of that episode, I'm extremely cautious about my back.

I am so happy you both are ok! So glad someone was there to help you out! Please you both be safe. Sometimes we forget how things can happen to us. Last year I suffered a stage three shoulder separation mountain biking in Utah. If I was there alone it would have been a bad time. Just take your time and be safe. We love you guy's.

Hello David & Lefty, I know that God is with you. Your friend showed up and helped you when you needed it most. You have paid it forward many times by helping other and now it was your turn. May God bless your friend that helped and everyone on the way home. I'm sorry you and Lefty had to go through this but, you know you will come out the other side. Lefty showed how much he loves you with his actions. God bless my friend and be well. Russ & Keira

Watching ya'all on here... I went and bought myself a little camper! (Thor, Majestic 19G) I was turning nomad!! I was on the way home from my purchase. Dislocated my hip. Did not go to the doctor for months. I'm now 18 months later, still not 100% better... and I'm not a nomad! Thinking I should just sell, make a new plan... I've lost my courage. Oh you just said you're piriformis... I had a lot of pain in the piriformis and sciatica... I purchased a TENS machine. (Amazon $30) They come rechargeable best investment ever! Glad you're up and moving towards home and glad you had a friend. Keep us posted! Tell Lefty, he's such a good boy! 🐾

Wow, what an experience. I hope you won't be offended, but I had to laugh at Lefty's reaction to you being ill. I have never seen a dog look so concerned, the expression on his face just cracked me up. So glad your on the mend mate.

I am so glad you are feeling better. I know exactly what you are going through. I have been in bed for 5 days with traveling neck and back pain. I don't think I have the same issue you did because my back pain started in my neck over a week ago then moved into my shoulder, then down my back and then finally into my hips, lower back and butt since Sunday afternoon. I think it's sciatica caused by something else. I will see a PT on Monday (I hope). Thank GOD my husband is being a very patient nurse for me.

I used to often get the exact same pain. Sometimes even just randomly. The best thing for me was a good broad spectrum CBD oil. The last time it happened to me I was standing like you were in the video, barely able to move, legs wanting to give out, a friend offered some CBD, and it literally cleared up the pain within a matter of minutes. Even though I knew about CBD and promoted it, I had no idea it would work so quickly and powerfully. Another dose later when the pain came back. At least eased it long enough to get back to normal for a while.

Oh wow. I am so sorry for you. Good thing Bobby was around to help. Isn't it amazing that our animal companions know when we are sick or hurt? Glad you got in to the doc and can get some treatment! You made me laugh when you said you emerged "more grizzled". Is that a good thing???

Oh, David, I am so sorry to hear of your back trouble. I thought it might be a bulging disc by the way you described the pain and all.. I have never heard of that condition you said it turned out to be. But at least you know. And you are correct. “That which does not kill us makes us stronger…” I am glad you had Bobby there to help you. And, of course, sweet Lefty. Take good care and take it easy….don’t overdo. You don’t want to reinjure yourself.

I had that happen to my back before, it’s probably your sciatic nerve. Ice it when it first happens and the next day apply wet heat for at least 20 minutes three times a day. Heat water on stove top and use a small towel to apply directly to the area. Good luck.
