Just for interest those birds are called Bell Miners. The common name refers to their bell-like call. 'Miner' is an old alternative spelling of 'myna'.

Once you roll an ankle, it seems to remain weak. I would consider a brace or binding for it, from now on as a preventative measure. You still managed to take some incredible footage, and I always love the accompanying soundtrack. Thank you for another great video.

Not uncommon to roll the same ankle again. I take hiking poles, can use as poles for the tarp and handy when carrying a load over rough terrain. I used to think they were for oldies until I did extensive hiking overseas through the himalayas. They are brilliant in the mountains.

Scotty, I had a pack swing on a walk once, went head first into the creek bed rocks. I too should of gone back to the car, but pushed on. I used cold stones from the creek to curb the swelling, give it a try if you get hurt in the future, even if you have to strap them to your leg/swollen part. Makes the rest of your journey much better.

Hi Scotty. Sorry about the ankle mate. Good call going back. Some wilderness 1at aid, soak the ankle in a stream for 20min. Strap up and hike. When you get to camp sleep with your injured limb elevated higher than your heart. This will help with some of the throbbing and reduce the swelling. Best of luck. Hope the ankle heals well.

Always have a roll of sporttape in youre pack, i twisted my ankle pretty bad on a fishing tripp. fell throu a beaver dens roof with my back pack, aprox 25kg and all the weigt on my right foot when it landed on a small logg, I still remember the crunchy noise my ankle did when it happened and the pain was horrific. All i did was pull the strings on my hiking boots as hard as I could and walked back to the car 3 km. There I took the boot of, if I had removed the boot where i hurt my ankle I would never gotten the shoe back on. After that tripp I always have sport tape in my back pack.

G'day Scotty. When this 73yr old used to tramp here in Nz, used to carry a roll of heavy duty insulation tape in case of a situation like yours. Wrap it around the outside of your boot using the boot leather as your support up around your ankle. You probably should have camped there and Turned around around next day instead of carrying on. Don't forget, 10km in, means 10km out. Ok..lecture over. I don't mind waiting for you to get better. Just get better. And yep i look forward to seeing your videos. Take care mate.

@@etard82 yeah my boots were Italian design. "Osolo." And I wore gaiters as well. Kinda ruins your day if things turn to custard with your ankles while tramping alone. One thing to remembr also when hiking in the bush, is that the widest point on your body should be your shoulders. Not extra attachments on your pack. Lessons over. Thanks for your comment. Stay safe.
