Join me for two nights wild camping beside a beautiful Australian River. This was one of the nicest camps I've had in a long time. I cook up some good tucker on the fire and just enjoy this beautiful location. Hope you all enjoy the vid!

Hey folks, I hope you enjoy the vid. Keen to hear your thoughts about the lightweight swag. I can't wait to show you guys! Also, I would just like to say that I've had a few people ask me recently how they could support the channel, so I've decided to create a Patreon. If you enjoy my vids and find value in them, it would be great if you would consider supporting me. Thanks legends and I hope you're all well! www.patreon.com/scottysgonewalkabouts

Hey, Scotty, my name is Tony Yardley. I live in Alabama. I used to do a fair amount of camping when I was younger as I live near the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. Now I’m 67 and disabled and don’t get around so good. One of my dreams was to visit Australia but now it will never happen . Thank you for giving me a real taste of the Australian countryside. I look forward to your videos.

Hey Fred, Real sorry to hear about the health issues, but super glad you had the pleasure of Alabama and all those golden years of camping, 99% of other people could only dream of! I've always dreamt of camping out that way for a week or more myself, one day after I fix a few health issues I'm facing myself! All the best pal

Finally a swag that will be designed for hiking and lightweight camping, not to be lugged around in a 4wd. Swags have moved so far from the traditional bedroll to accomodate thicker mattresses and more luxurious features that they have become completely impractical. I was searching for a decent quality lightweight swag for so long and the best I could come up with was the Darche Urban Nomad 700. Great idea Scotty and I think that I would definitely be interested in purchasing one in the future if you ever decide to manufacture it, it would be fantastic to have a swag you could take hiking. Keep it up and I love the channel 👍

I'm watching from Shinjuku (Tokyo), the centre of a 38 million people metropolis. I'm returning home to Australia in September and seeing this has me so hyped to come back. I've loved hiking and camping all over the Japan, with all its conveniences like high speed trains direct to/from trail heads, but I can't wait to come home and just sit by a creek and listen to the kookaburras.

A lightweight swag? Definitely! We have two 'swags' that are big and bulky and that's all you can find. I'm not an experienced camper but when I've come across an old fire at a camp spot that still has the cold 'charcoal' left from a previous fire I am grateful because it doesn't take long for these to get going and add a wee bit of fuel to a fire. But yeah I get what you are doing and applaud the care you take of our beautiful country!

For a water filter just use a %100 cotton bandana or towel, and run the water through it to remove corse material, and then just boil the water for several minutes and done. That way you dont have to spend money and waste time with filters. Just a suggestion. Great video once again, cheers scotty! 👍

Fletch 60 years ago at age 15 I hitch-hiked around Australia twice carrying my grandfather’s swag. It was a home-made tube of canvas with a sewn-in flanelette sheet. All my gear was rolled up in it and I carried it with a leather belt over my shoulder. Worked really well. Years later for pack-horse trips I bought a horse-riders swag made from oiled japara, very lightweight with a light foam mattress. Goes over the saddle easily and also fits into my narrow, tall rock-climbers rucksack.

I personally think that the lightweight swag is a great idea. I suppose its success will come down to how many people actually go hiking/camping or bushcrafting over here. It seems to be much more popular in the US or even the UK where we seem to go more for 4wd type camping. Maybe I just don't see it as much. I do know buying quality lightweight gear, that you see them use overseas, here takes a lot of hunting and is very expensive. Plenty of shops with the same brand name crap but once you try and get something a bit out of the ordinary you can struggle I have found. All the best with it mate I hope it works out for you and you have had enough experience to know what is desirable.
