Injury videos are good as they are more relatable and a common difficult experience - the psychology of obsession - compulsion, driving self too hard, and the process of diagnosis and disappointment. Lionel is so positive and handles it so well.

Had a stress fracture in the ribs 3 months ago, doc told me to train through it because not moving does not help and will only make you stiff. Worked just fine with not too much pain when swimming. And before people say I'm not a pro and that it is not comparable. My Ironman pace is 1:18-1:20/100m....

What caused you to get it
@erikschmidt5263
@erikschmidt5263 4 ай бұрын
@@MilanSmore Doctor said it was probably fractured due to excessive tension in the serratus from a combination of heavy lifting like deadlifts and weighted pullups and hard swimming. But the final blow came through high abdominal pressure while doing heavy and deep squats. So the reason is definitely different from Lionel's.

Speedy recovery, Lionel! 🤞 Ideas for videos: 1.Nutrition - in training days, or how you plan it for the races. What has changed, what you've learned. 2. Recovery - in normal days, and now with the injury 3. Tips from your career - things that might help newbies in their journey, etc. Cheers!

Got to tell you that this video was something I desperately needed to lift my spirits after I myself underwent an MRI earlier this week that identified a torn MCL and meniscus in my knee - the result of an injury I picked up during a training session. It does feel good to know that I'm not alone in this and I want YOU to know that too! You got this Lionel, wish you a speedy recovery, because I can't wait to see you in action again!

The proverbial blessing in disguise, a chance to rest, recover and focus on other things with plenty of time before the goal race in October. There's numerous examples of triathletes coming back from injuries, often stress factures, and winning or PB's, i.e. Kienle's 1st @ Kona 2014, Jan's 1st and T.O.'s 2nd @ Kona 2019.

Melodrama,I felt your pain. I always thought one only has so many races,RACES in one’s body. There so many triathletes with heart problems- down the line. I think that has something to do with maxing-out. It’s the breath of the matter, resting pulse-to maxed out,what ever it takes,do or surf. So as you’ve said,” listen to your body,”but narrative is an after thought.

Maybe a nice recovery video series to show the mere mortals that overdoing it on a regular basis = never get better. It would be refreshing especially since most pro cyclists are talking about riding at zone 2 so you can go fast in races and it seems to be working in their results. As always all the best!
