Well now the mission has changed for this game. Instead of unlocking characters it's about unlocking better gear and leveling up your character. I think it would be really fucking dumb if your favorite character was locked behind a mode and you had to use other characters you didn't like for countless hours just to unlock him. Then after you unlock him you have to spend even more time leveling him up and unlocking all his gear when you could have simple done that since day one if you had that character unlocked. Nostalgia is fucking with your ability to look at things logically.

@Damion you're mistaken about something here. If they release a game like old system. It would be like here's the game, no dlc, but the locked character would be for example joker. Not the dlc character. They will choose the current roster like Brainiac and Joker for example.

Silent Lulamoon Yeah it sucks but some people would rather spend the money to buy these cosmetics than expend that much time to earn them. Whether it be because of work or school or other things that occupy their time so they can't devote that much time to farming for those coins. It's simply an option for them but you can earn around it for the most part. And on the bright side, Mother boxes can't be bought! (Injustice Loot boxes)

It doesn't because of the grinding and lootboxes. It would be an amazing game if it wasn't ruined by WB's greed. Instead, after finishing the story for tge first time, I'm now stuck wondering how much time I want to put into this game because the amount of grinding you have to do to unlock the gear is ridiculous, and like the reviewer said, they try to force us to spend more to avoid this.

The biggest booming trend in games in the last 5 years has been adapting the rpg element that is loot. Games such as call of duty and even fighting games are starting to realize that replay ability relies heavily on being rewarded for the time put into the game. This is why mmorpg's last as long as they do. Some story modes in mmo rpg's will literally take months to complete, and that is without reaching the end game which many argue is where the game actually begins. I think this trend will result in people crossing over genres because of this one commonality.

As a 40 yr old life-long gamer, this seems pretty complicated when it some to gear and upgrades (which I mostly don't care about). For the most part, it's all a matter of getting used to the mechanics of the game. As long as I get combos and defeats under my belt, I'm a happy camper. The cinematic scenes, story, and animation are definitely a bonus. Overall, I'm happy with this title. It's when I'm defeated over and over that I'm not having a good time....but this game is good! Glad I bought it!

Correction: In unranked mode the default is to allow Gear Stats, Augments, and Abilities. "Competitive Mode" is an additional rule which is on in ranked but off in unranked (by default). Check out 4:48 of your own review if you have worries. This means that Multiverse loot does in fact play a role in the casual mode.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Take your time. Play training mode. Approach like you would play any in depth RPG you've never played before. That is learn the mechanics and you should be good to go.

I'd rate it maybe a 4, some characters are very awkward to use unless you've spent a ridiculous amount of time mastering their combos and timing, and it unfortunately doesn't have a mode dedicated to teaching you combos like in Street Fighter 4. It has a fair share of user friendly characters, but even with them you have invest a lot of time into practicing with them to unlock their full potential. This game's a hard one for me, I have a background with Tekken and Soul Calibur, which are a bit slower paced, this game is fast as hell in comparison. If you play it enough, you will be good at it.

Mrs. Pereira, it is admittedly a fighting game- but it's a fighting game about superheroes- compared to other fighting games like Mortal Kombat, or other games period such as the Grand Theft Auto series, the "harsh" content is pretty minimal. All violence, although rendered well, is in a cartoon style, and even Atrocitus's(an evil character based on hate) plasma-blood power is more of a red laser then blood. Other than cartoon-like fighting, the game is pretty mild. Next to no explicit sexual, drug or alcohol, or foul language content. Netherealm needs to pander the superhero game to the young audience as well, so its pretty safe I'm most regards. Hope I could help.

I would be more excited for Injustice, but even with the Gear System, it looks like it won't stray away too much from the first game's formula (keepaway galore). Artstyle looks pretty bland as well. Also, after the MKX PC fiasco, I tend to stay away from that kind of disrespect. It isn't at Capcom level with the rootkits for SFV, but it's still pretty bad. If anything, at least the game is pretty complete in terms of single player stuff, NRS is really good at making the casual crowd happy.

Netherrealm Studios really came in their own with Injustice 2. The game is well polished and fine tuned and is an absolute joy to play. It does have it's flaws but there are very few. It's a nice change from Mortal Kombat til the next MK comes out. Truth be told, I look forward to the future of the series.

The story was fine, but almost half the characters weren't featured enough and the Joker should have been replaced with someone else.

After the dissapointments of sfv and kof XIV this game totally improved upon everything from the first game which was fantastic This is easily the best fighting game ive ever played Netherrealm are now the literal king of fighting games

Just beat the game and I gotta say. I really enjoyed it. I love the fighting. Its fluid and fast compared to the first. I also like/dislike the gear system. Like: I like the fact it can add aesthetic changes towards your character as well as stat boosts. As well as shaders. But what I also like is part of what I don't like. Though i'm a big fan of showing off epic items etc to give the (I got what you don't have) feeling I can't help but see the system as flawed. Epic gear has the best stats out of them all. Though, level locked, I still think they shouldn't be the "best" in terms of stats. It makes sense that they are but to really make gear unique you should be able to mix and match to make a fighter you want to play with where the commons are comparable to the epics in some ways. For example, if you like a armor set for batman that's your favorite but has awful stats but you have to choose the suit that is your least favorite because of how it performs. That's my main gripe. I think you should be able to pick a set of armor with good stats but still change the aesthetics. Because I have unlocked some cool common ones but they are useless compared to the epics.

Actually, you can give one gear you really like aesthetically the abilities of other powerful gear, NetherRealm thought of everything.

Depends on what you’re looking for in a fighting game. If you want something a bit more in-depth, go with Fighterz. If you want something accessible and fun, this game might be more your speed.
