Between Cleen and Christian for a captain I would pick Cleen all day amy day. Just for the fact that half the time Christian is just looking for some angle to screw someone over or play head games and I would rather have a coach that is focused on the tattoos themselves than worrying and thinking about how to play mind games.

I’d be fine with it. As long as it was what I wanted I couldn’t give a rats ar*e. Everyone has a different opinion, and in real life the artist is there to please the client.

I think that if the canvases are dishing out their skin for something permanent and are happy, then they should be left happy in their own ignorance. The old lady who was so happy with her self portrait on her daughter was mortified when the judges said it looked like Leatherface. Once someone says they see something and you find it, you can never unsee it. When it comes to canvases or the subject being tattooed, ignorance is bliss.

Also they are ripping on good tattoos often because it's for the title"Ink Master" so even a bad tattoo there is probably higher level than your local shops. Not to mention how much these bigger pieces would cost by this level of tattoo artist outside the show. Bet the show pays them some as well.

Bird Nerd here: The shoebill wasn't that bad, except for the weird feathers around the neck, also the flowers on the beak made it look a bit flat and foreshortened. A shoebill is not the smartest choice to submit for judging as a lotta folks have never seen one and they are so odd looking. My first time seeing one, I literly thought it was a muppet.

They were the inspiration for the characters in Dark Crystal, which is a Jim Henson movies with puppets. I think a lot of people have seen at least a reference to this and not the bird so the link is drawn.

He's been known for being an asshole for years. Probably 5 years ago he got some shit because he kept posting on his social media about how gross he thought overweight women are and how he didn't like tattooing "whales". Several women with similar stories have come forward accusing him of sexual assault, sexual harassment, inappropriate comments, body shaming, homophobia, and just being an awful person in general. That makes his reactions to Laura less "funny" and more creepy...

I grew up with Joel, whose real last name is Joel Coombs by the way. I was mad at him for years for “selling out” by playing cheesy music given where we grew up is very working class and what people call “rough”. I think I was actually jealous, and now I’m happy for him. Any way you can get out of where we grew up is valid, and also impressive. People don’t have the luxury of thinking big where we are from, but he always did, and he made it happen.

I think they started doing blind because 1) favorites and 2) people noticed that the judges would judge the women a whole lot harsher for the same mistakes the men made. Also something they praised the men doing they critiqued against the women.

I used to like Christian but I saw an older episode recently that I hadn’t seen before, and what he was doing was actually bullying a competitor from another team. It was spiteful, and so juvenile and completely unnecessary. He is a freaking grandfather, I bet he would hate it if one of his grandchildren was bullied like that. It has completely changed my opinion of him, I have no respect for him (not that he would lose any sleep over that). Anthony is terrific, always calm, encouraging and respectful to others. He seems like a really good guy.

The show looked fixed to me. Too often bad tattoos somehow got through depending on who did them while strong tattoos get vited off. One week they boot someone for not following the brief then a couple of weeks later the tattoo of the day was one that didn't come close to following the brief. I suspect they know exactly who did what and pretended to not know.
