This is interesting. Tales of Maj'eyal is my favorite roguelike (and game). The way Inknbound streamlines the turn-based nature of the genre with real-time exploration was a fantastic idea.

Me and my friends played a lot of the demo during the last steam next fest. Had a ton of fun and have been excited for its release since. Ready to see what’s been added, and it looks like it’s coming into early access so hopefully there will be frequent updates with addition content. We did feel like the multiplayer scaling was either weak or actually non existent, certainly wouldn’t mind some additional difficulty options.

Really surprised you've made no reference to Hades, the game which I felt Inkbound was closest to in structure (if not gameplay) during my time with the demo during Next Fest. Though the mythology is far shallower, there is a similar mechanic whereby NPCs reveal new information during and in between runs, further pushing the player towards that "one more run" feeling, hoping to have the NPCs reveal more information regarding this unique and curious world. I loved the heck out of it during that Demo period, though I have to admit that hearing it will be always online is disheartening.

I am definitely interested in this game, but I wonder how good it will be to play singleplayer. Most of my roguelike playing is quite spur of the moment when I have free time in the day, so I don't want to have to spend time finding people to buddy up with on Discord. I will pay close attention to its launch to see how it ends up playing out. Monster Train kept me very busy during lockdown

Monster Train is one of my all time favorite games hands down. I've bought it on steam and ipad. I've also played it on my xbox via gamepass some. I've yet to beat lvl 25 convenant but trying to do so on iPad.

I always feel kind of skeptical of games that take a single theme (ink, in this case), and makes every game mechanic, item, reference, metaphor, etc. all about that one thing. This reminds me a lot of Lost in Random where everything is about dice, fitting for its title. That was a great game, but sometimes going fully into a single theme can work really well, or flop entirely because it all feels too forced.

I'm worried the exact movement will not work well with my inner perfectionist. If there are 1 pixel size spots where I can stand safely I might spend 20 minutes getting my positioning just right, sapping all the fun out of it.

The game looks cute and a turn-based roguelike is definitely something I'd be interested in, but unless it's really cheap or goes free to play, I think the online only nature along with microtransactions can easily ruin it. I'm honestly sick and tired of aggressive monetization in paid titles.

Idk why but i can't get immersed into any 2d or isometric games anymore at this point. I start and I like some of them at the start, then completely lose interest after a few hours

Monster Train is the best designed turn based combat game ever. 8-9 battles, not overtly random but strategies weren't repeatable so you had to have an eye for synergies. The difficulty was very intuitive. The expansion really completed the game. I'm eager to see how this one goes.

Unfortunately, as soon as 'roguelite' is mentioned, my interest drops by about 95%. For those that just love this genre, it's a bit different from the majority of 2D, Slay the Spire clones. Enjoy!

How much does this game rely on playing with other people? Namely, is playing solo still fun? I've played a couple of games for 1-4 players, and solo play while technically possible, was ass. edit: Never mind. 7:55 you should have mentioned that it's an always online service with microtransactions, battle passes, and their own in-game paid currency, at the very beginning of the video. Not interested anymore.
