He might've made a sour jar or did a candle ritual, maybe he even did some blood magick. Just a warning- witchcraft is not something you should practice without proper research, especially blood magick. These spells can backfire badly.

Pentagrams and sigils are very common tattoos to get in the witchcraft community. The "witch words" he mentioned were probably nice phrases like "momento mori" or "nihil durat in aeternum" which mean harmless things. He must have been pissed to put a hex on them though
